Theres some serious potential here, theres just a few things i would change

-The block spawning makes the game a bit too easy so maybe have it break after a bunch of turns (every turn change the frame where it gradually becomes more broken) (this could also make it so you cant mindlessly end the turn until you get a good set up)

-Have it so the abilities dont reset when you end turn (maybe this was done on purpose by design so idk)

Overall a solid game and i enjoyed my time with it, 4/5

Very cool game. Really impressive for a game jam. The tutorial is great. I just wish there was some music to go along with it.

Also I like the title ;)

I really like this! I love how the relatively simple mechanics of falling blocks, three abilities and three types of tokens all work together to form a really complex game without being complicated at all. Well done!

Awesome game ! The concept is very clever and innovative.

The art style is beautiful and it's so polish. It feels very pleasant to play.

Could be nice if we could undo dice on spell and unselect a spell. Also, if we read instruction more than once the game softlock :p

I really enjoyed the game, nice job :)

Excellent game, very polished and fun game loop. If it had a bit more feeling of progression like upgradable special attacks then I could see myself playing for a long time. Very well designed overall. Great job!

Than you! I'm glad you liked it. And that is exactly the plan, I've been working on a post-jam version that breaks the game out into more discrete levels, with upgrades in between.

Great game! Had a lot of fun with it. So, release on mobile, when? :D

Developer

Thank you! We'll see lol, I don't have much experience with developing for mobile- but it definitely would make sense as a mobile game I think.

Cool game! I liked the concept a lot, and the art is great! The gameplay is fun and intuitive as well. One thing I'd suggest to add though is some sort of deselect or undo function, since it kind of locks you into a move once you click on it, even if it's a misclick, which makes it frustrating sometimes. Also, indicating the amount of damage the abilities will do would also improve clarity. Other than that, I really enjoyed playing the game. I glanced at the clock and 30 minutes went by already haha. Well done!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad that you liked it. And yeah, I agree. You can actually cancel using an ability if you right click instead of left click, but it still doesn't reset the dice you used so you can kind of screw yourself. An undo option would be interesting, and is probably needed in the post-jam version I've been working on- as it has a lot more enemies that punish misusing your dice.

UI cleanup/clarity is another thing I've been working on too. Having to check the instructions page to see what your abilities do is probably not ideal lol.

The game looks awesome. looks like it was designed for mobile platforms! am I wrong?

Anyway, I really enjoyed the game - Nice job!

Developer

I wasn't designing for mobile originally, although as I added more to the UI it ended up looking more and more like a mobile game lol. Glad you liked it!

Interesting! Rating count is surprisingly low for a fantastic game like this, you should leave comments on other people's game and advertise your game on discord. That being said, I love the concept: the obstacles, the enemies, many different abilities to use,... all combined into one amazing experience! You could really make this into a full-fledge mobile game and I'll happily buy it. Overall great work!

Developer

Thank you, that means a lot. I might try posting in the discord, but it is what it is. The few people who have played it have seemed to like it a lot, which is nice.

And I've working on a more finished version this week, implementing a lot of the ideas I didn't have time to do (Like more traditional rogue-like elements and more effects that effect your dice like Curse), and fixing up my awful 48 hour spaghetti code lol.

Woah this game reminds me of old puzzle games like Panel De Pon and Magical Drop 2. This is a truly amazing game, enjoyed all of it.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it

This is really cool! I really like the feel and how everything is responsive.

As a fellow Godot user:

1. I wish I was as good at making my games feel as "Juicy" as yours

2. A tip for when your exporting - uncheck  the 'export as debug' setting

But all together, great job! Feel free to come check out my puzzle dungeon game if you have time:) Cheers and go Godot!

Developer

Oh my god did I leave export as debug on? It kept rechecking it every time I exported and I must have forgot for the last one, dang.

And thank you! I feel like the sound effects go a really long way towards making buttons and things feel good to use

Submitted

Yea sadly I didn't have time to add sound to mine - what sound program do you use to make yours? Also I do the debug thing all the time too :)

Developer(+1)

I grabbed a few sound effects from online and then used audacity to trim and mix them as needed, which I'm pretty sure is free to use

Really clever mash-up of multiple different genres/archetypes for a great result! I love the art style and the game is super satisfying/juicy, which is particularly impressive given the time frame. I like the element of strategy to figuring out the right way to tetris pieces. Could see this being a great mobile game

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it! I wanted to try focusing on making everything as juicy as I could, although I probably spent more time on it than I should have
