I really enjoyed it! Did you make the art? Either way the whole experience has a cohesive style and presentation, and the music and sound is awesome too. Cool game.
After rolling two dice (and getting one curse and one blessing), subsequent dice didn't do anything, was that supposed to happen?
Anyways, cool and creative game, movement and combat were really satisfying, I dig it!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for playing!
I made all of the art, although most of it was made before the jam. The dice rolls are completely random and will often roll nothing; however, it is possible to get all eight effects in one run of the game.
The dash attack is really fun to use, even breaking the destructible terrain was satisfying. The players animations are great and I like the 1-bit pixel art style! Really cool game!
Thank you so much!
The animations and art-style in general is really nice, a bit unfortunate it only runs in a small window but maybe that's a problem only on my system. Also the mechanics and objective were a bit confusing, a tutorial explaining them would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for playing!
You should be able to switch to fullscreen from the settings menu in-game. Sorry that the goal and mechanics of the game seemed vague. I ran out of time to implement an in-game tutorial during the jam so I tried to add the information that would have been in the tutorial to the game page. If there is any information that is lacking from the game page feel free to let me know and I will be sure to add it.
Love the simple style and how much variety there is to each room. The combat is fun although a bit confusing at first. I also appreciate the fact that you accually save progress of the player most people(including me) dont bother doing that for a jam. Unfortunately tho the game opens in a tiny window on my device which i dunno if its intended.
Also the box spawning bat is cool
Thanks for the feedback and for playing!
Really smooth controls and great animations. Very easy to keep saying "just one more room" and keep playing for ages haha. Great work!
Thanks!
Good game! I really liked the gameplay, it was interesting and fuN! I also liked the art style! Well done:)
Thank you!
Fun game and cool concept, I really like the art and music, but I wish there was some music for the boss as well. The fact that the dash was an attack, but also for dashing was a really cool idea! Though it does feel like the coins aren't really worth getting, as you basically don't really need them for anything. The concept of curses and blesses is cool, but you don't really need to roll the dice again after getting all the blesses, other than that the game is really fun!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
nice fun game
Thanks!
Fun visuals! Reminds me a lot of downwell
Thanks! Downwell was definitely one of my main inspirations
Good job! I've always been a sucker for 1 bit pixel art, I especially like how you did the different particle effects. Good use of sound effects too.
I will say, I wish there was a way to actually see what the curses/blessings you get actually did (Maybe there is a way and I missed it). I think even if you just named the curses/blessings and had that appear with the already existing popup would help a lot
Thanks for playing and for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
I ran out of time during the Jam to add in-game text for each curse/blessing. However, the effects of each one can be viewed on the game page
Oh, yup, there they are. Told you I had probably missed it, I had only looked at the submission page
Fun dungeon crawler with an interesting dash attack mechanic. I really like the pixel art aesthetic. Reminds me of downwell. I gotta give making pixel art like this a try.
Thanks! Downwell was certainly a huge inspiration for me.
You should definitely try making pixel art like it, it's great fun c:
I LOVE THIS 1-BIT ARTSTYLE!
Psst! Rate my game too!
Thank you so much! c:
I've never really played with anything like the attack in this game, but once I got the hang of it, it was super fun! Ended up clearing the boss on my 3rd life.
My only real critique is that I wasn't always sure what the effects I gained did (I was able to work most of them out, though). Otherwise, though, had a lot of fun. Nice job on this game!
Congrats on beating the boss and thanks for playing!
I thought the main character's dash attack was pretty unique. Since there's a lot of top-down shooters in the jam, I was half-expecting to be shooting things, but was pleasantly surprised and refreshed. I also like the vibe and music of the game - it was suiting for a retro dungeon crawler.
My main feedback is that there didn't feel like there was a compelling enough reason to fight the monsters (since you can easily run past them) or gather coins. I did find the heart pool room, which was neat! I would have loved to see more variation in the rooms, though I can understand the jam has a pretty short time limit to get things done.
Overall, I had fun! Nice job with this!
Thank you so much playing!
I really appreciate your feedback and I concede that I probably should have made it obvious that killing enemies is required to reach the final boss.
Ahhh, that makes sense. I should have tried to clear rooms of enemies to see what happened. I was really set on exploring haha.
Good job! I liked the roguelike elements and the monochrome graphics. In the end it is a good game!
Thanks!
