This game is extremely hard for me because my spacebar isn't anywhere near my left hand - it's on the right side of my keyboard, while my left has WASD and of course I have a mouse. I think cleaning up the controls and making it so it works on more keyboards is a generally good idea, since you have an otherwise incredible game here, really well done. The concept of hot potato is really well executed as well.

Thanks for the feedback! I really should have some kind of quick setup for doing key customization, it's just something I never really implemented for a jam game. Will definitely do so if I expand on this. Out of curiosity, what kind of keyboard do you have? I've never heard of a keyboard with space on the right side.

Also the game should work using W (or up arrow) as a jump key, I just only mentioned it in the description (whoops)

I use a Kinesis Advantage 2 LF.  I get absolutely brutal carpal tunnel otherwise! https://kinesis-ergo.com/shop/advantage2/

I think this is the best game I played so far, congrats, I end up finish, but god damn, this is hard!!

Beautiful presentation, just above my skill level! I feel like the die-hard platformer lovers would get right into this one. :)

Your concept for this submission is fantastic and you could definitely take this further and make a fully-fledged game out of it! Your pixel art blew me away, absolutely 10/10, I wanna live in a world that looks like that. Congrats on making such a solid entry!

Cool idea! Art looks really good. That calm music make me feel it is relaxing game but it is actually quite challenging.

Wow! This is extremely impressive and a lot of fun to play. Very unique concept too

This is a really good game! The art is amazing and the gameplay is surprisingly complex and fun. I feel like a speedrun of this would look really cool.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I want to see a speedrun as well, even I haven't managed to get through the whole game without failing at least once :P

It is tricky! Here's some stuff that I forgot to add: my only criticism is that the physics of the bouncy things is kind of wonky sometimes (I was having trouble with the level where you climb up a tower with horizontal bouncy things). Also I experienced a glitch where if you die right as you enter the next level you stay invisible.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to check out that bug when the jam ends :)

Nice Art well done

Wow! The art and music and sfx are all fantastic and fit well together. The characters sprite is wonderful and I love the background art. The game is super hard. I got to the two moving platforms with the torches and had to stop. Couldn't figure that one out. So many levels and various mechanics, its so impressive! Great game!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Thankfully that level is pretty close to the end, you weren't missing out on too much :P

Beautiful game! I love the concept and the art is fantastic. It's pretty hard, but very enjoyable.

Wow the art is gorgeous! The animations for the player were really fluid and those environmental pieces just hit the spot.

This game is definitely very challenging, so I really appreciate that you gave the player a quick restart.

The platform controls are all very well done, but the juggling is difficult.
I saw that you increased the hitbox of the light sticks quite a bit and I think maybe the player could get some of the same treatment. There were a couple times when I thought I touched the fire, only to have it shatter right next to me.
The trajectory of the fire is sometimes hard to imagine so I recommend adding a trajectory line.

This game was clearly well polished, and I think if you playtested a bit more and gotten feedback on the difficulty you would have made a perfect game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The catch radius is actually pretty big but it looks like I forgot to make the collider on the flame bigger as well. Trajectory line is a good idea :)

Great concept. But damn is it hard to play...

Really like the color palette. And the sound fits really well.

Very impressive entry all in all. Well done!

PS: I somehow got stuck inside the floor pretty early on. I went into the next room but panicked and went back immediately, then I was inside the floor and had to restart the game to resolve it. I don't know if it helps but I attached a screenshot...
