Game Description
Centuries of unnsustainable practices by humanity led to the severe degradation of the earth’s atmosphere which has created polluted monsters which still roam the city. Help the citizens by collecting the solar orbs and eliminating the monsters.

How does your game tie into the theme?
It is based on a future where the unsunstainable actions that humans do have gotten extreme. So now you use the solar orbs you collected as the new renewable energy.

This game has a nice art style. I would suggest to map the shoot button to another key or the mouse click, because it was hard for me to control the character and shoot at the same time. I also got killed a few times by invisible monsters or walls.

But good job for a first jam!

think the world and art style fits the theme well! The controls could have been a bit tighter but good job for a game jam!

Sprite art is nice and stylish. The story is nice, more of an apocalyptic take on solarpunk which I'm a fan of. I also like what you have in terms of game design, I feel like endless runners and shooters are a solid combination.

A few quirks in the player controller to work out if you continue this project but those have already been pointed out. Just a suggestion, you might also look into implementing some stuff like acceleration, coyote time, etc. when precision is so key.

Congrats on getting it done in the time limit though! Good work.

Thank you for the valuable feedback!

I liked the intro/story here along with the great art! I think the auto-scrolling mixed with the precision platforming/shooting was a little difficult for me but I still had fun! Great game!

Great music, and the lead-in story is nice. But I found the game just too hard/unforgiving for me. :)

I love the beautiful art in this game, and I learned a lot about how to draw buildings. The music is magnificent.

The occasional teleportation was a little confusing at first, but it made for a tense and fun experience.

Overall, very nice job, well done!

Developer

Thank you for the nice comment, I know the teleportation bug is really annoying, but I'm glad you saw it as a challenge 🙏👍

Nice pace to the game and the artwork looks good!

The teleporting is a shame, but that happens sometimes with the time crunch.

I had some trouble with the E and D keys, since it uses the same finger I sometimes shot when wanting to jump and vice versa.

The pixel art was great and the music gave a very epic feel to it! Our teams had very similar ideas. You know what they say, great minds think alike ;-) Great job!

Developer

I thought the same thing! Really really really loved your game by the way.

This would have been a-lot more playable for me at least if either the arrow keys were mapped to movement or there was a way to remap the keys.

Developer

I'm sorry, but I just thought that everyone with a basic knowledge of PC gaming knew how to move with WASD, but I'll have it in mind for my next projects, thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

It's not a matter of knowledge of PC gaming as much as accessibility.  I'm aware of how to move with WASD, however it's more difficult to use those keys than the arrow keys at times due to a previous injury.  Not nitpicking btw, I understand that only so much can get implemented in the short time period of a jam like this, and just finishing with a working game is a big success.

A reasonable take on a classic platformer. Maybe could have done will a gentler introduction - a starter level with less drops and falls. Epic music!

The pixel art and music are amazing, gameplay is a bit tricky getting teleported sometimes and having to input E to shoot while trying to go forward with D.

Good job guys, its a pretty cool game.

I enjoyed your game!

A bit tricky in parts and I also experienced the glitch where you randomly get teleported forward a bit, leading to DEATH.

I like the art style and the environment has a nice aesthetic. Nicely done.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I didn't notice the big bug when we were creating it... So I'll probably try to fix it after the jam is over 🤷🏾‍♂️, but thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

i had fun with this. The art was nice and I liked the spin on the endless runner, collect orbs and kill monsters! I think more audio and some platforming niceties like coyote-time would make this even better!

Developer

Thanks for the comment, happy you had fun!

The pixel art is quite nice, but the controls felt a bit imprecise. I also had a bug where, a couple of times, I'd be randomly teleported across the screen and fall into a pit.

Submitted

Nice game, I really like the artwork and the music is fantastic.

I also find the text a bit too fast to read and also encountered some bugs with the controls (character is placed on the corner of a building of pushed off it).

Otherwise nice game!

Glad you liked it!
