Perfectly captures the addicting frustration of the original impossible game. Props on the gameplay and music!

This game brings back fun frustrating memories :P
Kind of cool to see it ported to the Game Boy. I could not finish it, I get frustrated with this kind of game (you did a superb job, don't take it personal!!)

Good job on the demake, I will try it on my GBA when I get the chance :)

Developer

it's definitely a frustrating game for sure haha, thanks for playing :D

Really nice. Level 3 I think felt like it had an insane difficulty spike tho imo, it felt like the game became less about memorizing the obstacles of the level and more about nailing jumps at what seemed to be frame perfect positions. I wanted to play it through the end but that part of it became too frustrating for me. I really liked how the music syncs up with the level though that was a lot of fun.

Thanks for playing that far! Level 3 is harder for sure, maybe I could have done with a level in between :D

Smooth animations and gameplay, cool soundtrack. Can't ask anything else for an Imposible Game (Boy)!

Developer

Thanks man glad you liked it :)

Awesomely fast gameplay for gameboy. The animation of the block jumping and falling really looks smooth and quick - not something I'm often use to seeing on gb roms!

I love that the death counter shows with each new try and continues throughout the levels. Would it be possible to include a pause button or perhaps a script that doesn't start the next run until the player presses a button? I had to stop playing for a brief moment but couldn't do without my death count racking up.

Thanks, glad you like it! If I do an update for the game, I will try to implement a pause feature :)

This game is a perfect blend of simple yet frustrating, creating an addictive high octane runner. I played it on my Game Boy DMG, so the ghosting of the spikes made them hard to see sometimes. In level 0 I found the music repetitive, especially since I died constantly and the music resets on death. But on level 1 felt like the music was woven into the level design; there is a slide in the melody that syncs perfectly to the top of the first block stack where you have to not jump to be able to jump and avoid the spike. I haven't beat that level yet, but I will definitely try! If the rest of the game is that perfectly in time with the music, this is one of the best Game Boy arcade games I have ever played, way more satisfying than tetris! Awesome work!

Thanks so much!! Ah yes, I should mention in the description about the ghosting for the DMG. I have tried it on an Advance SP which worked much better, and I am yet to try it on Color / Pocket so not sure about those yet. As for the timing to the music, ideally in these kinds of games the player movement would perfectly match the tempo of the song so everything would be in sync, but I couldn't find a way to do that due to limitations of the Gameboy. However, I did try to build the levels around the music as much as possible :)
