Very fun! I like the music, and I had more fun than I expected getting a big frog stack. I think if the animation for frogs hopping around was sped up that would help a lot, and being able to cancel a hop would be a lifesaver. Had to restart a few times due to a miss-click.

The levels are very interesting, and the stack restriction with the lily pad I thought was a smart design choice to restrict player movement and choices. It kept it interesting! Same for the double jump frogs! But then you give the player some agency how the frogs are stacked, allowing to circumvent those restriction if the player is smart enough. What I'm basically trying to say is you nailed the ingredients and their dosage to make a perfect puzzler, so well done!
The presentation is simple but to the point! I found the music catchy and on-theme; maybe a bit repetitive but I didn't mind it much.
The frogs are super cute, but I had this optic illusion where my brain had trouble deciding if they were frogs or birds with large tails, or birds with large ears! :D
Very very well done overall!
That is the loveliest most thorough review we've had! Thank you!
My boyfriend had intended to make the art assets all graphic, but he got frustrated so reverted back to pixel because he knew he could churn out something decent in the 2 hours we had left at the end of the jam.
Music-wise, I had intended to make a b section and more melodic variety generally, but again ran out of time. The piece is all loops that stack in and out, except for one steel drum/marimba part that I improvised over the top. For a polished game I'd defo bring in muuuuch more variety to the piece, and also probably have the music whilst you do puzzles be less intrusive and more sparse.
I like how the bottom frog determines movement of the whole stack. I think more control over the stack could open up the door for even more puzzles!
Would you prefer to be able to split a stack (like having the top frog jump off). Do you think that would make for more interesting puzzles? I asked my boyfriend (who was doing the coding whilst I did the level design) to make that possible, but he couldn't get it working in time. It would be interesting to see whether the game would be better with that mechanic in or not, so im intruiged to see what you and other peeps think
I’m not sure—it would definitely require more play testing—but I could see it opening the door to new puzzles. Like, you might need to stack a 2-space frog on top of a 1-space frog to carry it across a narrow, winding path so that the red frog can get to another at the end of the path, if that makes sense.
Very cute and straightforward. I liked the environment the music added, made it really feel like the frogs were naturally having fun somehow even without froglike animations. :D
Don't really have any criticisms that haven't been levied - I do agree on the animations being odd, but you did well keeping it inside jam scope ^_^ Thanks for the fun game!
Thank you very much! Funnily enough, you're the first person to mention the music at all; I genuinely think people must think the music is copied from the internet because I slyly think I did damn well in that department but you're the first one to say anything on it :(
You're defo right about the jump. we had noooo idea how to code a sensible parabola in 4 different directions for different lengths whilst being able to land on different heights of frogs, so we just put in whatever worked, really.
I'm glad you had fun with it :D
So much fun! The puzzles were well designed and kept me engaged. My only suggestion is to make it clearer that the bottom frog determines the movement. Awesome game, excellent execution, great work!
Man you make the movement faster and you have yourself a PERFECT puzzle game experiance! I love the concept of stacking the frogs. adding the unique frog types with different movement is a great addition. Then you introduce the concept of the stacks moving based on what frog is on bottom!? FANTASTIC! loved it
Nice game ! I like the variety of the levels, which have a perfectly balanced difficulty. Art and sound are awesome too. After the jam, please make more levels and a bit of graphical polishing :)
This was an incredibly clever puzzle game. The concept is simple, yet I haven't really played anything like it before. The puzzle design for each level was pretty good as well. It could use some polish on the jumping animations. Also, some small effects such as the selection arrows bobbing up and down, or the currently selected frog being highlighted could go a long way to making the controls feel more reactive. Overall amazing work though.
