fun game and very enjoyable! it even has upgrades each death which gives more depth to the game

Developer

Thank you for playing it and your kind words, I'm glad you liked it :)

Are there any hints for where the princess is or is it just trial and error?

Developer

Thanks for playing it!

The castle is always the same layout and if you take 200 steps or more, next time you die and restart you will have the map feature unlocked, I felt like both of these facts offset the confusion of no indicators - but I might have been wrong.

I like the incremental nature of this game and the design of the characters? so round~

Developer

Thanks for playing it!
All the characters are made of out the same basic sphere with some extrusions and then drawn some pixel art on top :)

I liked it! I kinda didn't get how to hit the enemies without getting hit just as much, but I assume I just have to try a path that avoids enemies the most? Either way it was fun, the visuals and sounds are really nice and I found it really cool that there's some transition on the soundtrack when an enemy appears. I'd only suggest making a smoother transition to each step, but that's more of a polishing thing.

Overall great, 5/5 :)

Wow thanks so much!

My intention was to make combat unavoidable and intentionally "hard", so you have to die, be lost and get overwhelmed at the start, and then slowly as you repeat the encounter you can survive longer and longer with growing power/hp, and be lost less and less as you know where to the dead ends are, but always "on your toes" looking for the princess.

I think I did reached to this general feeling, even if I didn't manage to hit it home with everyone so well :D

Neat little game! Basic but cool concept, especially enjoying the way the map is generated and only ever partially revealed.

I played it in chrome and the audio sounded a bit buggy/ started cutting in and out, and it took me a while to understand if my hits actually worked on the enemy. But that's just minor polish, still a really solid entry!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing it!
I was struggling with the audio, not sure why it's like that when on a browser.

great game, might want to add some particles that show you hit a enemy because i saw them hitting me but i didn't see me hiting them

Developer

Thanks for playing it!

I was really torn about how to communicate hitting without animation, I did add particles for hitting the enemies (it's the red squares), but I guess it's not really clear.

A fun game; I liked the quick roguelike cycle. Also the map reveal part was cool as an additional bonus. More variety in enemies and tactics (and maybe a procedurally generated map?) would be cool for future.

One technical note: I got a "AudioContext constructor: Sample rate is not in the range" error when I tried to run it on FireFox; worked fine on Edge though.

Developer

Ohh I didn't even try to run it on FireFox, thanks!

Thanks for playing it! :)

An interesting idea and the visual part is very nice. Rogelike on the contrary haha. It seemed to me that sometimes there are too many enemies, but otherwise, this idea can be very well developed.

I was trying to make it hard at the start so you need to die and restart several times, I understand from your comment that the way you die itself (spawning 4+ enemies attacking you) feel unfair, right?

Short but not bad, i really enjoyed it (I would have liked more level :) )

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it!
Yeah I feel like it can be a really nice browser/mobile game one day

It was simple and short, but it was fun to gradually get stronger. At first you couldn't see the map, but later you could, was that due to growth?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it!

Yeah you gain the first (and only) traversal upgrade after 200 steps, which is the map of the castle
