  • Very unique and interesting animation style. High points for that. The music and SFX were very cute choices. A simple survival gameplay is tried and true fashion, but it did feel limited in it's scope of area you can transit. I scored it low for theme as it felt more just staying alive than rejuvenation. It was unclear what was going on or what I was supposed to do, and I had to watch the trailer to understand. Overall, there was highpoints for animation and music, and certainly for creativity. Good job.
  • Congratulations on your completed entry into the Fireside's first ever Game Jam!
  • This game was a soft break for my eyes and eats. The minimalist art, music, sounds, and mechanics just all worked together. Issues: -The game eventually gets to an end point where the enemy saturation is so high that you can't leave the safety of your home base. Creating a sort of "maximum high score". Overall, Very much enjoyed this game as a break for my brain. Would make for a very pleasant phone game, where the player followed your finger. 🤔

This is a very polished and fun jam game!  I liked getting to pick the pallet, that was a very nice touch.   (my favorite was Candy) I thought the gameplay loop and graphics were superb, but I had a bit of a problem with how enemies were handled.  It was helpful that the watchtowers were lit up  where they were, but I felt like it was strange their searchlights casted no light of their own. What kept happening to me was I  would walk up to a tower while it's light was facing away from me, and by the time I  saw it the search light had swung around and saw me because I was already in its perimeter. The buzzsaw enemies also popped out of nowhere and killed me before I  had time to do anything multiple times. I thought the audio fit with the game and its feel very well. Overall, extremely well executed with just a few small issues.    Great job!

Loved the atmosphere, loved that you could change the palettes, and I loved how much the game doesn't explain to you. Realizing that the game area had expanded the first time and that I really was a tiny robot in a huge forest was a really cool moment. I kind of wish the sawblade enemies were a little more telegraphed, like the towers, but given the choice having them be slightly overpowered definitely made the narrative feel of the game better. If this doesn't take first I'll be surprised

music was good  art was a interesting choice  but fits .

Was impressed like the others on some of the design aspects, and loved your menus although was hard to read with the pixelated stylized fonts on parts. There was definitely gameplay but I didn't manage to master it, not sure what the power was either?

Certainly met theme and presented well :)

Developer

Thanks! There is no power, it was feature we didn't have time to add :)

There are some incredible choices done with this game that I absolutely love. First, being able to not only change your color palette, but  create your own and use it in game is incredible. Secondly, I adore the  look of how the colors cut through the main surface and create this awesome glowing effect across different layers. So cool! I would love to see how this was made if you plan on doing a devlog. Ultimately I had a couple issues with the gameplay part of it...for one I couldn't really avoid enemies that I could tell. It seemed like the main strategy was just to do a hail mary, run out to grab the parts and heal before the cogs could kill you. The second is that the high score goes up whether or not you're collecting things, so the ideal method to get the high score is to just let my game run for an hour and then screenshot it for everyone to be impressed.  I t didn't seem like there was too much to the game either. It was endless it looked like, but the story made me think there was an end somewhere. Oh well. Overall though, wonderful job. I really enjoyed this one!

Thanks for the detailed comment! I'm glad you liked the palette choices, that was definitely my favorite thing to put in the game.

I wasn't planning on making a devlog, cause I wouldn't know what exactly to put in it, but it's definitely in my mind now that you mention it.

Confusion on how exactly to avoid the cogs seems to be a common complaint with the game (something I would like to fix at some point perhaps), but you can avoid the cogs by hiding behind trees.

The high score goes up because if you wait too long the factory will begin to die. If the factory dies you won't gain health until you get it more gems.

And sorry about the ending, that was a feature we planned on adding, but we never got around to it.

A very unusual game, it's almost pixel-like, but the genre is like a sandbox survival game.
Cool! Very unusual musical accompaniment.

I love the art, music and sound design! The gameplay is engaging and everything feels polished,  but those cogs are the bane of my existance. I was going to ask about the special power, but I've seen you already answered that! Good game, fits the theme, could benefit from more variety.

I enjoyed this very much. Took me a few tries to 'get' it. Perhaps adding something within the game itself that emphasizes the importance of hiding in the trees might help. At first, I felt like there was nothing to be done about the gears chasing you, but I eventually realized you can hide from them. Had to give the audio and graphics full marks because damn this game is beautiful.

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed! I agree that it is a little hard to figure out about hiding behind trees. And thanks for the compliment to the audio and graphics, I will make sure the musician sees!

This game was really pretty! And Engaging! I played it a whole number of times, I really like the option to choose the different color palettes as well. I couldn't get the special power working, but that didn't really detract from just trying to outrun the flying gears and collect the power statues. The ambient thunder rumble was a nice touch!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for all the nice feedback! The sfx designer will be happy you liked the thunder, he worked very hard on it :) . Sorry about the power thing, that was a feature that was going to be added and I just forgot to remove it from the controls menu!
