  • Firstly. I loved the art, music, and sound design in this game. Just a few unfortunate game design decisions: 1. It's WAY too difficult to time the the launch plant mechanic. The delay before launch, especially on level 3, made it neigh on impossible to get between the moving enemies. 2. I was able to bunch the lemmings together, but I wasn't really able to easily split them up after bunching them together. 3.With the trickiest parts of the levels being at the end, it was a little rage inducing to have to get through the entire level and then fail at those points. That paired with the long restart time, made it difficult to stay motivated to beat the game. There are so many great design decisions made in this game, like the control reminders being hidden in the pause menu and the existence of that first launch plant that teaches you what they do so you know for the part up ahead. Those are spot on. But the overall difficulty hurt my experience.
  • The artwork and detailing in this game is amazing. The music and SFX were also nice and matched up with the style. It is an extremely well put together game. I didn't find any bugs which is impressive for a time limited production of such high quality. I found that the difficulty curve was quite steep from level to level. This could have been softened by a bit more playtesting, possibly from someone other than the developer. The zoom out feature was quite useful and I appreciate it's inclusion. I did rate it low on theme as there wasn't as much rejuvenation at the core of the game beyond the story part. A very well put together game, great job.

This game is very fun, got me engaged! Amazing visuals, as always. Maybe it was just me, but could be less difficult. Totally on theme. Overall, amazing submission!

Clever game totally on theme.

Very charming game with great art and music. Absolutely love the style and the extra touches such as the transitions that match the game aesthetic. For me, it got tricky quite early in the game. I struggled to manage all the little sprites in the second stage (others mentioned you could do one sprite at a time but for me the others would die in the spikes if I neglected them). It helped when I learned I can make them move faster when I shine the light over them.

Overall, the game suits the theme really well and I had a great time playing, excellent work!

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! I didn't get to do as much playtesting as I would have liked so I think I ended up with that problem where the game was easy for me because I played it so much. But I definitely appreciate that you played it and enjoyed the experience!

This game has some incredible graphics and such a neat visual design to it. I real love the graffiti look to it and the animations of the characters. It's clear you know what you're doing when it comes to characters and animation.  The menus were smooth and juicy and I loved the easing as they went in and out which is an extra level of polish you don't see on most jam games.

The gameplay is really great, though I  have to say there's a couple small things that make the game I think a bit more tedious than fun. The main one is the way the game is designed, you have to focus on one lemming at a time and bring them through the whole path, then go back for lemming 2. On a couple runs I tried doing more than one lemming at a time and got completely destroyed. This wouldn't be so bad except you're looking at about a minute or more for a lemming to complete the run, and multiply that by the lemmings and you've got a really long and tedious level. I won't presume to have a solution for this since this is your game, but I think a couple of design choices could possibly fix this entirely. I think if all the lemmings came out at once and there was no way to stop them (like for example they would just die when they hit the walls) but you were only responsible for 1 lemming, it would make things a lot more chaotic but also a lot more fun I  think, or maybe you could win more stars for the more lemmings you get in. Making it so you can only lose  2 or 3 lemmings in a level before it restarts is pretty frustrating.  It leads to design where the player is forced to wait and wait to have a good winning strategy, and with only 3 days to judge all the games I had to move on after level 3.

Overall though, I think you're incredibly talented and I could easily see a game like this going up on steam or switch and picking it up for a couple dollars and having a lot of fun with it.  As I said before, the game is beautiful and some of the stuff you did with the game mechanics is fantastic. Revealing the new world with the lantern is so stinking cool, and the fact that your lemmings interact in that way is incredible. So overall, fantastic game!

Awesome! I really appreciate the compliments and feedback.  I'm definitely most proud of the art and designs myself. Unfortunately,   I didn't get to playtest as much as  I    wanted with other  people which I  think threw my difficulty off. I can beat all the levels pretty fast with all the wood sprites out but that's probably just because I've played it so much lol.  I think having the star system is for how many of them you can save is a really good idea, and was actually on my list of things I wanted to add. I thought it would be fun to have 2 endings, one where you just beat the levels and one where you got a perfect on each one, but unfortunately that had to be scrapped for time (game jams and all)   But I'm really happy you enjoyed it, and again thanks for the great feedback!

The game is really Fun to play ! its a puzzle game with a unique idea to open new ways for the minions to win the map, Great graphics, great sounds FX/Music, i just noticed 2 things that annoyed me a bit, 1-the tutorial is too long (many instructions to read) -2- the cursor is not hidden i thought i might use it later or something so i started clicking on objects in the game :p nothing happens tho, but yea would be cool if u hide the cursor in the game scene in my opinion :D ,regardless of this 2 things, this game is Perfect ! well done !

Thanks for rating and the feedback! I think hiding the cursor during gameplay and then just showing it on menus is a really good idea.  I think that'd be a good feature for me to implement in my games going forward. And I agree about the tutorial level, I would have really liked to spread it out more, but I ended up not having time and had to put it all in one level. Thanks again for rating and the great feedback!

Love the concept. I wish you could drop a bit of your lantern power to keep some platforms active while keeping your focus elsewhere, it would have meant less having to focus on 1 NotLemming at a time as I'd have the confidence they weren't going to fall to their death and speed up the game significantly... apart from that minor tedium, however, I really enjoyed the game. And it's a great interpretation of the theme.
I played the browser version and it did crash after the third level unfortunately, but I saw enough to know I like it.

That's a good observation, I think that really nails it on the head for me. The reason the game slowed to a crawl for me was because I was only able to do about one lemming at a time and hiding the lantern wasn't fast enough. As Golden Wreath already said, that would speed up the game. I think the only issue is the pacing, everything else and the mechanics were great! Wonderful visuals!

Developer

Thanks both of you! Really good feedback and I appreciate the compliments as well.   Before I settled on just hiding the lantern light I thought about letting you have two that you could pick up and move around, which I think would have been the better way to go, but I had to drop that feature due to time constraints. If I ever go back and update it this is definitely a change I want to make!
