What a great submission! Love the concept, visuals and audio and such a great take on the theme! It's surprising how even a few eyes can really bring a slime protagonist to life, great job!

5 Stars in everything! What a great game! Visuals are really good! I like the level design and the concept is great! Just reduce that grainy vignette effect! Other than that its great!

A fun 3D puzzle game!

Theme:

The puzzle mechanic was the theme in your game, which I loved that you made it your main focus!

Visuals:

There was a lot of 3D assets created for this game which I found to be insanely impressive! The animations of the slime was also very cute and worked perfectly in the game! Some of the environments did feel a little flat and lifeless though, but that's what happens with this scale of 3D games in such a short time. The light effects was also very awesome!

Sounds/Music:

I really liked the chill music for the game. There could have been more polished sound effects to help sell the game's world!

Overall:

This was a very fun time sink of a game. I played a lot of levels and didn't see an end in sight. This was impressive especially with how many levels there was, and being all 3D. There was some excellent use of lighting and in general overall great level/puzzle design. The there wasn't a lot of variety of music and sound effects, I don't think that really holds this experience back. I would highly recommend checking this game out!

Very enjoyable and polished game dude. I really love the concept of the dividing slime.  It's the most original and solid mechanic that I saw in this jam, (and the number of eyes detail OMG is amazing). Also, the level design is perfect, the difficult progresively increases, and the last level made me think too much (I am stupid, the level is perfect). Game design 20/10, greetings mate. I think that you have a long career ahead as game designer.

If you have some time, I will really appreciate if you check my game. Thank you a lot for eveything!

Developer

wow thanks a lot for the kind words. i rly am encouraged by them :) i will try and get around to playing your game, i have a big old list of games to do and im a bit burned out for now but i will try and get through some tomorrow haha

Very slimy entry (positively ofc). It's already good, but there are so many things you can upgrade to make it even better :D

Theme:

Without a doubt a great theme interpretation. Apart from the obvious one, I liked to think about one more. "Less slimes is more eyes xD"

Visuals:

Great job here. Models are great, slimes are totally cool (I love that they get bigger and get more eyes), animations are fun. You played a bit with particles, and they are also nice, tho you can do some amazing things to improve them. First is I would reduce their lifetime a bit as on some maps you can see how they are falling beneath the map. The other thing I would do is to improve these slime particles with some decals on collision with ground. So that when this green ball falls into ground it creates a green splash sprite on collision (and it changes size to 0 overlifetime), if you don't know how to do it, you can PM me, so I can show you.
The other idea that could be nice, would be a screen shake while slimes collide or fell (just a little screen shake), it might add some weight to them (the bigger slime the stronger shake).

And it would be good to work on a UI, making it more of a cartoonish rather than default and add some postprocessing effects (vignette, grain, maybe color corrections and bloom).

I know that it was for the game jam so, it was not really possible to do much more (you did great job!), but just giving some advices on what you could do if you were eager to work further on the game.

Innovation:

What a great idea for a game, very entertaining and puts a smile on your face while playing :)

SFX:

Music and sounds were great, they blended with gameplay so well, that I even forgot to focus on it :P

Gameplay:

Controls are really fine, sometimes I've mistaken split with next slime, but not really sure how to improve on that.

Game Design:

Very good level design, you teach the player in a right order and interestingly. Every level seems to be unique and while playing I've wondered what next you will show me :)

As for beginning or ending, this game by itself asks for some cute opening and ending, but as I've mentioned before, it's for a game jam, so I imagine it would be pretty hard to do (I enjoyed the ending texts tho :P)

That was a pleasure to play and rate this game. Keep up the good work :)

wow thanks for the detailed review :) those are all really good suggestions! these are things i would like to add for sure. i just ran out of time and got burned out and took the last day off instead of adding some of  the visual ones haha.. in the future if i continue i will add many of these suggestions and especially the slime trail!

Such a great game!! The visual and music is fantastic. The puzzle is incredibly well design and so enjoyable.

I don't think there're much more I can say that hasn't been said, I had a fantastic time playing this. Great job!!

Developer

im glad you enjoyed thanks for reviewing!

i really liked this puzzle game, the puzzles are well made and presented, the only thing that i didn't like was the Z and the X buttons, they could be the Q and the E buttons, other thing that i would add is a "reset the puzzle" button, in the first level where you have to push the block with the 3 or 4  slimes i pushed it the wrong  way and i couldn't access a place to move it down, so i wasn't capable of finishing the level , actually i did pass that level, but because i sticked the slime to the wall and practically wallrunned outside the danger zone. great game!

there is a restart lvl button in the main menu using Esc, but i hear you on the button choices they can be easier. thanks for the review glad you liked it!

ahaha i didn't  even know that you can use the Esc key, i need to pay more atention lol, then no complains if that button already exist :)

Real cool use of splitting and joining mechanic. Puzzles were smartly laid out, even ramping up in difficulty as I progressed. Models look cute and I really like their animations as well.

Not sure if it was a feature, but one time I had a slime stick on the wall, moving like a beyblade. I think it was the level where you need the weight of 5 slimes, and the first slime is on a platform. I guess the slopes on the wall made it possible for the slime to walk onto. Might be something you want to look into, but really it wasn't a big deal and it can pass off as a feature in my opinion.

Great work on this one, I enjoyed the experience! 😄

Developer

oh i just tried to replicate this spinning thing myself and worked out how to do it. i think i can fix this. thanks for the review!
