I decided to play the version on your Github page that you mentioned in case that had some kind of essential update, and I have to say that the AI voices totally took me out of the story. I was kind of stunned to come here and see the reviews. Then I checked the itch version of the game, no voices! I think the narrative certainly works better without the AI voice cast, sometimes less is more. Not that I'm expecting anyone to have a full voice crew on hand for their Jam game, but the package presentation matters, if that makes sense. Also figuring out who you need to connect is maybe just a little too easy if you only have to listen for a person or street name. I think you're just getting by with the AI silhouette art, but the voicework is a bridge too far, in my opinion.
Thanks for the honest review. I was still on the fence about the voices so it good have some feedback on that. I'll probably remove them. Some ambient sound would work better probably, or some kind of gibberish.
This was a great short story! Game play was simple, but the story kept me playing to learn what would happen next. Nice work!
This game is well put together, Though I did reset early on at first because it didn't seem like anything was happening. But otherwise it was smooth, and the story was interesting..
Thank you for the game!
What a cute, heartfelt story!
I really like your take on a similar idea! The atmosphere you created works pretty well as a whole, and I think you pulled it all off superbly!
I was hoping to be able to do the interactions of dragging the cable myself (your switchboard looks really nice), but since the focus was the story here, I cannot complain too much.
Very well done, that was great!
It's an engaging way to present a story. I didn't play it through as some plug in's didn't work for me. I also found it difficult to see the initial plug-in on every scene/lvl. You might want to nudge the colour of the blinking up on that one. Congrats on the game otherwise!
Thanks for playing my game, seems most people are having issues with the contrast. I've setup an updated version on https://bjorvack.github.io/GameDev.tv---Game-Jam-2026-Last-Call/
theme well presented. like the narrative and visual
Thanks for playing my game
such a cool game, really enjoyed it! totally has the bones to be a really cool narrative game, well done!!
i did have a little trouble finding the blinking switch that the call was coming from a few times but probably just my bad eyesight haha
Yeah, I'm hearing that a lot. I've uploaded a newer version on https://bjorvack.github.io/GameDev.tv---Game-Jam-2026-Last-Call/ it fixes the contrast issue.
But I'm grateful you enjoyed my game
Really well done and polished game. I like that being an operator and slowly uncover the story, it makes me nervous and want to know what will happen next. Great work!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my game.
The theme included a story-based element. Wow. Wonderful!
The atmosphere is very well done, I really enjoyed it. At first the lighting confused me a bit, but I quickly got the hang of it. Great game!
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah the light seems to be a common issue. I've uploaded a updated version on https://bjorvack.github.io/GameDev.tv---Game-Jam-2026-Last-Call/ Go ahead and give that one a try if you want
Interesting game, really nice visuals and a cool idea overall 😄
I would probably improve the lighting around the person who is calling, because on my screen it was very hard to see where the light was coming from.
I’d also suggest making the dialogues progress on click instead of auto-advancing. I read English pretty slowly, so sometimes I couldn’t keep up with the text before it disappeared 😅
But overall, really nice-looking game and a very cool concept 👍
Thanks for the feedback! I've actually implemented your suggestion in the updated build over at: https://bjorvack.github.io/GameDev.tv---Game-Jam-2026-Last-Call/. You can enable it in the settings now. If you have a moment to give it a go, it would be greatly appreciated!
I tried it again 😄 Now it’s immediately clear who is calling, so that definitely helped a lot.
I still sometimes missed who they wanted to connect to though, and I kind of missed a mechanic like: “Who did you want to connect to again?” or “Please repeat that.”
Because if you miss it for a second, it can basically mean game over 😅
Overall though, the game actually reminded me a bit of This Is the Police 2, which I really like. If you added a map and some people-management systems like in that game, I’d probably lose my mind from happiness xD 😄
Loved the aesthetics of the game, and the atmosphere works really well. The main mechanic is fun and works well too, even if it felt a bit too forgiving at times. Overall, great job with this project!
Thanks for playing my game. I'll see if I can fine tune it a bit more after the jam. Thanks for the suggestion.
The game is pretty nice! I like the idea of making the whole game around connections. Yours is the best theme implementation I have seen in the jam.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and the focus on connections. Hearing that you liked the theme implementation means a lot—thanks for playing!
nice sentimental vignette game. from what I can see on the games page, it seems you try to find an ethical way to use AI generation and I gotta say, you made good use of it - the game feels visually coherent - within the graphics (for the most part) and also within general the atmosphere - so it's definitely an interesting case study.
Would have loved to have a hint of interactivity beyond the total failure state or branching parts (maybe someone is asking for help and you need to decide who can help the most) but I totally understand that branching stories spiral out of control real fast and that you probably just wanted to tell this 1 story. nice one though.
Thank you for such a thoughtful review! I'm glad the atmosphere and visual style worked for you. You’re completely right about the branching stories—that would have been a great addition, but it just wasn't possible to implement within the jam's short timespan. I appreciate you playing and sharing your perspective!
Very nice idea, and it works well. Couple of times I connected to the wrong phone, but luckily that didn't become a real problem. Also, seems that the places for the connections are randomised, adding some replayability.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear the mechanics worked well for you. The randomization was definitely intended to keep things fresh, so I’m happy you noticed the replayability! It’s also good to hear that an occasional wrong connection didn't feel too punishing. Thanks for playing!
This was beautiful. It made me cry. Not only was there connection in the puzzle there was also connection in the story. You did an amazing you with this game.
Thank you so much for the beautiful comment. Knowing that the game resonated with you emotionally and that the connection between the puzzles and the story came through means a lot to me. I’m truly glad you had such a moving experience with it—thanks for playing!
Very touching game. Great story, was defintely hooked. Great job!
Thank you! I’m so glad you found the story touching and that it kept you hooked until the end. I really appreciate the kind words and for you taking the time to play it!
Cool game! loved how you spiced the puzzle with a story behind!
That was really cool. Quite a lot of story and a nice way to present it through a simple game mechanic on such a short time frame
Strong aesthetic, I feel the setting and its 100% clear and cohesive. I'm not familiar with switchboard operation but I get the feeling the sound design is on point for that. Simple and effective way to tell the story and it works.
I dont think there is much "gameplay" to be had here though; I decided to let the timer run out just to see what happens while I was near the end of the story, and sure enough its just a game over and you have to re-do EVERYTHING. I think when the biggest reward for the game is the story, having the user start from square 1 is a pretty big sin. Yes it's not that hard to find the right line and you do get ample time, but I could see there being more people like me who decided it wasn't worth the effort to start the whole thing over again for the ending. Checkpoints at certain points could quickly cover this gap.
