Great game for an operator, very realistic and  a bit of a memory game. The lights were a bit hard to see, maybe my brightness is a bit too high but hard to catch. Great storytelling!

Great storytelling. The lights were a bit hard to read. The artwork was decent, but too bad it was AI. Overall great job on this!

I enjoyed the story and the sound was well suited to the game, well done.
I would have liked the board a little darker and the light a little brighter for ease of seeing which line was active.  I saw from other comments that there was AI artwork but it didn't leap out at me, maybe it was less obtrusive than random art from the asset store and during a game jam something's gotta give.

Great job on the story, and the mechanics of the game. The Aesthetics worked great to suit the mood.
My first instinct was that the information from the caller should stay up, to make it easier to remember what they said and find the right line,..
But then it seemed more right that it shouldn't,.. you're "job" here is to retain that information, and find the appropriate place to patch it to, otherwise it'd be to easy.

Good job on this.

Nice story! On a side note: that's too bad you had to rely on AI for graphics, I hope you'll find an artist to remake some of the arts, your game deserves better, I spotted some inaccuracies here and there, and the rendering makes it obvious it's AI. Still pretty solid game with a simple and efficient gameplay, as well as a good story!

Such a great game with a heartwarming story that had me gripped! I did enjoy the story but I just can't quite condone the use of AI artwork. I feel like had you used your own art it would have had a more emotional impact. The game mechanics are great, they would have worked in any case

Pretty neat idea and an effective way to tell a story. My small issues are pretty much the same as other commenters have mentioned. It's a great entry overall

Indeed, reading the messages should be without any haste.

Nice touch that the board shuffles for a replay, so you can't just memorize where each click needs to go.

The next caller should be flagged with more intensity, indeed.

Ah okay I get it, you work as an NSA agent spying on regular Americans, and the son managed to make it in time to the hospital before his mother gave birth.

Jokes aside, this may not be the most fun game this jam, but it was definitely one of the best executed interpretation of the jam theme. Very, very, well done.

I do have two feedback:

  1. Like another comment had already mentioned, it can be hard to tell which light on the switchboard is blinking.
  2. I think I want to click or press a key to advance the dialogue instead of having it autoplay. The reason being that for an emotional and well written story like this one, I would like to savor each line of dialogue and soak in the story a little more.

I am not done with the voting yet, but for me this game takes the cake in the story category.

A lovely, moving story. I don't want to give too much away about it, other than that it was very well written.

The sounds carry this a lot, from the restrained music to the old-time-y rings of the phones.

I went through the game without making any mistakes. I started again to see what happens if I connect to the wrong source and was surprised to see the positions for each line were different!

It wasn't always obvious which line was ringing at the start of each section. There's a light indicator, but I usually had a bit of trouble tracking it down.

Super awesome game, a good story told well... good job

This is a really heartfelt narrative game. Trying to keep up with where everyone was on the switchboard and connect them with urgency added a bit of tension and fit well with the narrative. Well done!

Nice game and nice story!

The update you posted was a huge improvement. I was also having issues with knowing what to click and when . Updated version worked perfect and I liked the hash marks you would put next to the pin when the phone would ring made it a lot easier to see what to click. Captivating story that kept you going to see what would happen.

I decided to play the version on your Github page that you mentioned in case that had some kind of essential update, and I have to say that the AI voices totally took me out of the story. I was kind of stunned to come here and see the reviews. Then I checked the itch version of the game, no voices! I think the narrative certainly works better without the AI voice cast, sometimes less is more. Not that I'm expecting anyone to have a full voice crew on hand for their Jam game, but the package presentation matters, if that makes sense. Also figuring out who you need to connect is maybe just a little too easy if you only have to listen for a person or street name. I think you're just getting by with the AI silhouette art, but the voicework is a bridge too far, in my opinion.

Thanks for the honest review. I was still on the fence about the voices so it good have some feedback on that. I'll probably remove them. Some ambient sound would work better probably, or some kind of gibberish.

This was a great short story! Game play was simple, but the story kept me playing to learn what would happen next. Nice work!

This game is well put together, Though I did reset early on at first because it didn't seem like anything was happening.  But otherwise it was smooth, and the story was interesting..

Thank you for the game!

What a cute, heartfelt story!

I really like your take on a similar idea! The atmosphere you created works pretty well as a whole, and I think you pulled it all off superbly!

I was hoping to be able to do the interactions of dragging the cable myself (your switchboard looks really nice), but since the focus was the story here, I cannot complain too much.

Very well done, that was great!

It's an engaging way to present a story. I didn't play it through as some plug in's didn't work for me. I also found it difficult to see the initial plug-in on every scene/lvl. You might want to nudge the colour of the blinking up on that one. Congrats on the game otherwise!

Thanks for playing my game, seems most people are having issues with the contrast. I've setup an updated version on https://bjorvack.github.io/GameDev.tv---Game-Jam-2026-Last-Call/
