Thanks a lot for giving it a play!
I agree, the pic-up mechanic could do with some work!
I am glad to hear you had fun though, thanks again!
Damn, those are some unforgiving bomb ranges!
I kept getting myself stuck, and then anxiously-doing-a-mad-dash-to-get-as-far-the-hell-away-as-I-possibly-can before just about getting caught in the blast and dying anyway!
I think you should keep the non-grid based movement, and the bomb-blasts being so massive makes me really fear bombs more than anything I have ever experienced!
This was a lovely and fun puzzler!
I really enjoy when simple rules and systems can lead to fun, randomisable, solid gameplay! The atmosphere is also really good, with the audio and SFX.
I found myself wishing for the ability to track the length of each cable/rope, so I could try to challenge myself to solve it as short/optimally as possible!
Really solid creation, great work!
Your switchboard is absolutely gorgeous!
I had a lot of fun, the call volume really ramps up, I was scared I would lose my job!
I think you executed very well on a similar idea! The fact that I can move the cables and go wherever is amazing, even though I would have liked to see a difference between the left and right cables (incoming vs outgoing or something), but the visuals are peak, so I cannot complain too much!
Great job, really polished looking game!
I am very excited to see another Exchange Operator game!
I tried to play a couple of times, but after 2 calls or so it seems that the text just stopped showing up entirely for me. I also cannot tell the difference between a “front” and “back” cable - sometimes the same cable answers, other times it does not.
The aesthetic and everything is very nice, and I might come back to see if I can play it fully some later time!
What a cute, heartfelt story!
I really like your take on a similar idea! The atmosphere you created works pretty well as a whole, and I think you pulled it all off superbly!
I was hoping to be able to do the interactions of dragging the cable myself (your switchboard looks really nice), but since the focus was the story here, I cannot complain too much.
Very well done, that was great!
Thanks for giving mine a play!
BTW; I love that we had similar ideas and even names!
I do wish I figured out the cable bug earlier, as it is a very annoying issue indeed.
There are nowhere near as many character interactions as you have, but I am glad you enjoyed my take on this as well!
Thanks again for playing and the kind review!
Thank you very much for giving it a play!
I really wanted to focus on accessibility, so subtitles and such were high on my list! I think I just ran out of time or forgot about it until too late, but will probably look to add it in later.
It was a lot of fun coming up with different voices and scenarios, so I am glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Thanks again for playing and leaving a review, I truly appreciate it!
Thanks a lot for playing!
I did intend to add subtitles for accessibility reasons, but I got carried away near the end and it slipped my mind unfortunately.
The cables are also not ideally configured, I suspect I know what the issue is, but figured it out wayyy too late!
I hope you had fun regardless, and thanks again for the review!
That was a fun, hard little “inverted platformer”!
I had fun trying to speedrun the levels - thanks for including a timer!
There was a weird bug with collisions sometimes, when right next to a jumpable platform it would get stuck (normal and inverted) and I had to make space (often too late, damn guards being good at their jobs!) before being able to jump over.
All in all, nice work! The puzzles and levels were fun to traverse!
Thank you so much for giving it a play!
There is definitely a little bug when trying to pick up a cable sometimes (it helps if you approach the top plugs from above, and the bottom ones from below), and I unfortunately noticed it too late…
I am glad you persevered and got through it, and I hope you had fun!
Hahaha, “honesty isn’t always the best policy” and then walking off was tooo good!
Such a unique and fun entry! I am sure you had a lot of fun coming up with the quips and interactions, it really shows!
Brilliant job on the writing part, and good job for not shying away from the jam, even though Sam2 basically just started learning blender!
Had a lot of fun with this cute, silly little game, great job!
Such a cute little take on the same idea!
I had a lot of fun with your voices, and also the meta-fun by giving me the ability to uniquely connect “random-but-fated” people together!
I was however hoping to be able to use the other two pretty (teased) cables, and would have liked to be able to do the connecting myself (tried to click and drag a bit and felt silly when I realised…), but I get why those were left out. I also found it odd that the Operator physically disconnects, but is still able to hear the callers talk?
All in all though, I think you made a very cutesy, atmospheric little game, and I love to see it!
I love your take on the same idea!
I really like the theme and atmosphere you created, and the complexity of the exchange! I would have liked to do the connections myself (tried to click and drag like a fool a couple of times), but considering the pace, I see why you did it this way.
All in all, I think this is very atmospheric and solid little game!
That was unexpected, but a lot of fun!
I really enjoy the duality of it, having two different control schemes and purposes (to be honest, I purposely did not read the page text before playing to see if the game told me how it works, and just played infinite ammo tower-defense for a looooong time before I realised I could right-click to move!), and the game has quite a bit more complexity and fun to it when you start moving around!
I feel like there is a good balance between the movement speed of the drone and the mech, but it would have been nice if the ammo was limited, and the drone could do single points of damage or something when moving around (to keep it interesting),
All in all, I think it came together really nicely, and had quite a bit of fun!
Great job, that was really cool!
That was pretty cool!
I really enjoy the idea, and think you nailed the balance between stressful and giving me the feeling of “ooh, got there just in time!” quite often. Good job!
I got to Round 8 first try, and even when I did lose the connector under a fort, I managed to get it back. So no problem there!
Great job, this was a solid entry! I look forward to seeing what you make with it!
Wow, really good job!
I had to jump through some hoops (I do not run windows) to play, but I am glad I did!
Even though you grabbed assets from different sources, they come together really nicely in the end, and the solid puzzle & level designs, as well as mechanics pull it all together super well!
I found a section right at the start (before entering the first room) where you can walk over the wall and basically run the length of the game or fall off the world), but other than that, I had a pretty smooth time.
Great job, Daytaur!
Really cute concept, and I would like to see what you could do with just a couple more days!
I was confused at first why the gun did not turn, and I may have had a bug, but the gun could only ever shoot to the right? I decided to play as if that was a feature/limitation though, and that made it quite interesting to think about navigating around the enemies more!
Good job for the time spent!
Thank you for playing, rigg!
You should be able to put the cables back into the docks by hovering over any of them, but there is also a “secret technique” that I hint at in the contract - If you stretch them very far, they will snap back into the docks! The ones that fall onto the desk were supposed to break (and later respawn), but I think I forgot to add the visuals for that.
Sorry for the confusion, but thanks again for playing!
Thank you very much for taking the time to play and review!
I did intend for there to be some guessing of the departments, but not that the text was hard to read. Unfortunately I didn’t get around to replacing that after putting it in. There is a bit of a bug with re-docking the wires, but there is a secret technique (hinted at in the contract) where you can stretch them very long and they will snap back by themselves!
I am very happy that to hear that you had fun regardless! Thanks again!
Ah, thank you so much for playing and leaving a review!
I agree, the text on the desk is a bit hard to read. I only managed to add them in the last few hours, and didn’t have time to test if the web export compressed stuff too much, so I apologise for that unintended difficulty! The cables are also indeed a bit fiddly, there are some detection bugs where they do not always seem to find the correct dock/socket, but that’s why I went and added so many! As for music, I definitely did not have time, but agree it would have been nicer with some ambient music in the background.
I am very grateful to hear that you had fun, and felt a bit of what it must have been like to be an exchange operator in the past!
Thanks for playing!🙏
Yes! The initial idea definitely leaned more into the rhythm aspect, so I am keen to explore a bit further in that direction, possibly also exploring the performance of musical instruments and such!😁
In an ideal world, I could’ve recorded every word and ousted it when “singing”, but besides being unrealistic, I think it would end up being something very odd!🤣
Damn, the one time I find an actual “infinite money” hack and I go running my mouth about it…🙄😅
I thought there was something to do with a ball having to go in first, but I never had an issue with that. The shake was always more of a novelty in my couple of playthroughs, never really jostling the balls much, even when there was only two…🤔
Nevertheless, I think all this added to, instead of detracted from, my enjoyment!😁
Hey, thanks for giving it a play!🙏
It’s definitely harder than I intended and expected, and I did manage to break my “staircase” loop during the last day. Despite that, I’m glad you found something to enjoy!😁
I’ll be fixing up the loop in future, and maybe easing players in with shorter/easier songs. Hopefully it turns into something a bit easier and more enjoyable!🎤
Thank you so much for the play and insights!🙏
I intended for it to be difficult, but I agree it was much harder than I expected! I did want to ease the player into it, showing only shorter or easier tracks at first…🙈
There is an unfortunate issue that I seem to have caused whilst fixing another one.🫠 If you’re playing the Web version, playing in an incognito tab will allow you to play it again, but if not, there is a (slightly long-winded) way to get around the problem. It definitely broke my “staircase” design though!😓
I hope to fix it in the future and would love to see how it plays when the loop isn’t broken!😅
