Very nice and cute game!

The design and portrait for the protagonist is gorgeous, and the level's got a great city atmosphere going on (with suitably catchy music). However, the jagged walls on some of the "tunnel" areas look pretty unfinished and jank, and I got stuck in the starting area for an embarrassing amount of time before looking at comments and finding out I had to jump on the roof. The houses around the starting zone definitely looked like mere background elements to me, so I think making the walkable roofs stick out more would definitely help! That said, I never got stuck for too long after that, and it was a lot of fun to explore around overall.

This game's probably got my favorite implementation of melee combat in the gamejam so far! The combo looks great and hits have just the right amount of "oomph." That said, none of the regular enemies seemed particularly threatening, and I think the game could definitely have benefited from having some ranged or shielding enemies, or really just anything that requires you to stop and think for a second, because you kinda just mash your way through everything. On the other hand, the bosses were pretty cool, although the second one seemed much easier than the first one!

The basic movement feels very nice and snappy, although I wasn't a huge fan of either of the abilities. I do see and appreciate the effort to have a more "unique" set of powerups, but the toaster is basically just a double jump in disguise that's harder and less versatile to use, and the roomba feels awkward as well due to the minimum throw distance. I think both abilities could benefit from spawning directly under the player instead, as well as not costing mana.

I quite enjoyed the dialogue and the little bits of 4th wall breakage! The ending was funny but also I feel bad for them... I do hope they're not gonna end up stuck there forever! (I at least put them back at Tricia's workshop before quitting!)

Overall, great job!

Haha no! We do actually plan to finish the game 100%, with more bosses and an actual ending. I could not leave poor Wrench kun like that...

I am unsure if i reached the end of the game or if i am missing something, but it does not appear to be any paths left :S

Will say from what i played i think it's pretty solid, the powerups were interesting and creative, the musics are jammers, combat works well, i like the feedback you get from hitting enemies.

Things i believe could be improved, but are no deal breakers is the initial dialogue, think it could be a bit shorter, and the "mana" bar could be swapped for a cooldown system, or also have the ability to fill overtime, how it currently is it makes the player backtrack multiple ways back to fill it up again just to try certain sections again.

This game feels very polished. I really love the pixel art it looks so awesome! Other than that, I was somewhat surprised the level design feels... linear (more like Megaman instead of Castlevania), considering this is made by the Lord of Metroidvania themself :3

This one is cute!, i find it very funny that the starting cutscene starts of with the ms paint drawing style, but all the characther portraits etc looks VERY GOOD!!!, i like the player sprite and it felt very fun to play, though i think the consistency in artstyle between the bg, enemies and the player could be improved , and more places to recharge mana, i didnt have much of a problem with it, i just backtracked to a previous section of enemies for more, but i could see that being kinda annoying, but nevertheless i really like this game!, the characthers are cute and its fun! ,for a jam game this is really good!!!!!!!!

Personally, i think progression based abilities being tied to a mana bar is not a great idea, because i have gotten stuck having to backtrack to respawn enemies so i could use the toasted multiple times.

I would highly recommend the mana bar to recharge slowly with time.

Also, being only able to move with the d-pad instead of the stick is an evil choice deserving of punishment.

PD: Honestly i was going to give a longer review, but as i shown you on discord, i got completely stuck because of my inability to use the abilities if there is no enemies to recharge the mana, so i could not finish the game, a shame honestly, i kinda liked the vibe.

I like this game overall! The character design, environment art, and sound are good. The game page is very cute!

The toaster ability is no way to tell if it can place or not. and some platforms need more space to place the toaster.

Nice sound effects and graphics game is enjoyable. but felt kinda linear if it targeting metroidvania genre.  Played on browser so it laged every mob kill. and got softlocked sort of in sewers. But backtracked and  played bit more. Overall it's the only thing I didn't like, I didn't kill much mobs and came to  every door without magic pretty much.

I love the music in this one! It seems that making sure the player doesn’t run out of magic was a big consideration in the level design, but I’m not sure I see a reason why using the construct ability needs to cost a resource at all, melee attacks are the most effective and while you can sort of stack toasters, it’s pretty tricky. I’m unsure if it was a bug or just the game being unfinished, but there were a few rooms that locked up and kicked me out back to the previous when I tried to enter them. Overall it was a solid time, I appreciate that the game wasn’t too hard, especially the bosses were fun. I also really liked the silly writing.

This game is really cute I love the interpretation of the theme!  You've got great feedback, pixel art, and music and  the appliance designs for the enemies is really fun!   I absolutely love the roomba and toaster abilities. I found that if you spawn multiple toasters on top of each other the toast will push the second toaster as well.  I feel like this could potentially be used similar to bomb jumping in Metroid.

The biggest piece of feedback I have for this game is the ability challenges both require precision, and drain a lot of your energy.  These are easy to fix, and you've got plenty of play testers to help find them now!  After the first couple of the ability checks there are sandbags near by, but the first few I had to backtrack a few screens to find enemies before I could try again.   I'd consider putting a respawning enemy or a vending machine on the same screen as these challenges to make sure the player can't get soft locked or has to backtrack a while to find a source of energy.

The first Roomba challenge is very tough because you have to both get the timing during the jump and the spacing from the wall correct.  Since it's the first time the player needs to use the ability I'd adjust it so that the slot for the Roomba is on the floor and you don't need to jump to get it in.  The toaster challenges are tough because like the Roomba it spawns a set distance away from you, but it does not have the range indicator like the Roomba does.  The first challenge where you have to use the toaster to scale the wall the platforms are just about as long as the range for the toaster to spawn, so you need to be standing right on the edge to get the toaster to spawn.  Doing this multiple times in a row is tricky without falling, and it's easy to run out of energy.  Jumping at the apex of the toast helps a bit, but I'd suggest making the platforms wider.  Same with the second toaster challenge, I'd make the platform just a tad wider so it's more forgiving.

Awesome job, I really loved this submission!

Really cute game although a little rough around the edges. Very cute art and I like that you gain abilities from the bosses you fight. Although parts where you have to use the abilities needs work. Overall, not bad!

Really fun, 2 things I love in metroidvanias are unique interesting takes on power ups, and a quirky sense of humour, this ticked both boxes for me in spades... the graphics were lovely and I genuinely smiled at the dialog...

the hit boxes maybe felt a bit odd (probably highlighted by very small low to the ground enemies), but it is a very very minor gripe on a fun game.... found a little odd area of the map n top left corner which I took a video of in case helps future fixes?

The toaster ability was neat! and Bleame was cute :3

I really liked it, but I wish the map was more random and less linear. It felt more like a linear platformer than a Metroidvania. The attack combos are very satisfying to pull off! However, the levels felt a bit repetitive in terms of challenges... run, run, jump, run, hit, run, hit... But it’s an interesting project with a very unique charisma.

pretty cool little game. I was able to make it to the extra heart but didn't know what to do from there. ended up in the spot where I have no mana to make toaster kun do his thing.

Developer

Yea...not very clear but you can hit teh sandbag to get more magic. ^^;

I couldn't find sandbag kun nearby in that area, near where you get the extra heart. And there and navigation require toaster kun

yeah I also got softlocked here. I used momentum to get over that wall and then got stuck with no mana

A very appealing and creative game. Pleasant difficulty level and pace. The fact that you can walk on the roofs wasn’t clear, and the transitions between the other levels don’t look very good. The punching bags are helpful, but the whole mana system seems unnecessary to me.

Great concept! I would have loved to have the mana bar recharge overtime (balanced to avoid spamming of course). I had some lag problems with the web version of the game, but otherwise it was a nice experience!

Loved the parallax effects on the first zone!
