How does your game represent "Slick"?
With some slick moves and a lot of pizza, this game is as slick as a greasy fast food restaurant.

Lot of polish here! I am also envious of your grinding! (It was a time sink for our game) lol!

Submitted

Just awesome !! Possibly the slickest game of the jam ?? Everything is so incredibly polished. Look forward to seeing Dunkey play this on stream !!

Developer

That would be cool, thanks!

Submitted

Very good game, it seems so polished and full of content for a gamejam ! I see the Pizza Tower vibes and I love it !

Developer

Thanks!

I have no words. The art, the music, the gameplay, the controls, everything about this game feels extremely professional and masterfully made. Truly one of the best jam games I've ever played period. I would have finished it, but I couldn't figure out how to use the bluish green fans.

Add a few more levels and you could release this as a full game on all major platforms it's that good.

Developer

If you want to go back, and yes, this was poorly communicated, you can pick up the blue-green fans. Sorry that was confusing! my bad!

Developer

Thank you so much tho!

Wow! What a game to get out in a game jam, you guys must have worked your butts off! I genuinely would not be surprised if I saw this in steam, there's so much polish and little details, the difference in effect when you skate, roll, jumping off of walls. Loved that you used a big floppy disk as the check mark point, very fitting for being set in the early 2000s.

I'm glad that the aliens didn't mind that their pizza had fallen into acid, was blown up, and torn apart by spikes.. Adds to the flavour perhaps!

Developer

Haha glad you enjoyed.

Holy heck... this is a game jam game?? o o

I'd be shocked if this wasn't the winner of the jam. Really incredible stuff! I especially love the bomb mechanic. I feel like you could almost base the whole game around just bomb.

I ended up getting hard stuck at the jumpy dudes. I really had no clue how to get past them. I don't know what I was missing.

But spectacular job. Really well done! Grats!!

Developer

Yeah, the jumpy guys are grabbable. I know they look spikey, so we should have communicated that better in game. Gotta pick one up and use him as a jumping off point! Thanks for the complements!

Wow this game is incredible. Saw it played in vc but it's way better than I thought. It teaches the mechanics really well and it's super fun to mess around with. I got a really bad grade on one of the levels because I was just flying around with one of the cloud blocks and kept falling lol.

Everything about this game feels so complete, it doesn't even feel like a game jam game it's just... an actual game

Developer

Thanks for playing! :D

Incredibly slick, I wish i was better at these types of games so I could push the movement further. Insane levels of polish

Developer

Thanks!

another banger by your team! i feel terrible that i was nodding off at the time, super terrible timing, because there's a ton of fun mechanics in this one.

Developer

I watched your interview with Poke and Mangoes. Super fun to see you guys talk about the game. Thanks for playing :)

Absolutely insane level of polish all around. This was slick as hell

Really awesome game on the whole! Super tight sprite work and animation, good feel to the game, nice mechanics that take a little bit to get used to with some solid music and cute sounds.

I feel like the difficulty curve around the middle was a bit steep (Evident with grades of B, A, F, F, F, B) on first playthrough, but I'm sure subsequent attempts would be a lot cleaner for sure. Incredibly well-crafted game without the time restrictions, so with them it's even more impressive!

so good I can't even think of a funny comment to put

Submitted(+1)

Crazy amount of polish and content in this one, really well done. Gameplay, music, and art are all incredible. I know it's probably meant for controller but a little bit of effort on mapping the keyboard controls could go a long way for accessibility. Otherwise, great job guys!

Developer

Thank you! If you wouldn't mind explaining what you mean, that would be really helpful, thanks!

Submitted

I think just spreading out the controls on the keyboard a bit more since all the functions were where my left hand was and my right hand didn't have much to do so it could be nice to use left hand for movement and right hand for jumping, picking stuff up, etc.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

i mean, that literally exists. WASD + JKL, we just didn't include it on the ingame signs for the sake of keeping the a little less cluttered with controls

Developer(+1)

Someone else had that issue too. if you have a moment, give it another try using JKL if ur a WASD guy ;) Post jam i might add a controls page to help avoid confusion. Thanks for feedback!

Finally, someone thought to combine the two best things in the world: Wario land and pizza-type gamе....wait

Seriously, though, the fact that this was accomplished in such a short period of time is truly impressive.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I think you might know where we got the inspiration from :)

Super fun, this is my favorite submission so far. The art especially is incredible, I love the really thick outlines it feels very crunchy and it pairs nicely with the fluidity of the gameplay. I need to set aside some time to come back to this soon.

Developer

Thanks!

Great game. Very high quality. That was a lot of content for a gamejam. I would have changed the buttons because it was a little uncomfortable for me other than that... Great. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Would you mind explaining what you mean by uncomfortable? (I am just curious)

Submitted

W - A - S - D   &  Z - X  - C  ... I ended up playing with one hand on top of another. Now that I see the game again I see a J - K - L. However, I was following instructions and I was told about Z - X and C. So, yes, I played with one hand on top of another. That is what I meant XD

Developer

ah, sorry for the confusion. if you have a controller, that works too! but oh well.  that definitely sounds awkward!

I'm completely lost for words... PIZZA PLANET is absolutely incredible (especially for a game jam submission)!

You all perfectly captured the distinctly slick style of Game Boy Advance games from the early 2000's! (Similar games that come to mind are Wario Land 4 and Sonic Rush.) The amazingly charming graphics and stellar soundtrack fit in perfectly with games from that time period while also being their own thing entirely! The 1990's/2000's  iconography, such as the floppy disks, skateboards, and greasy pizza, immediately made me nostalgic this game, even though it wasn't released back then! lol. Speaking of graphics, the menus perfectly blend straightforward communication with a dynamic Persona-esque flair! (I'm a stickler for good UI design, and you guys nailed it!) I also really liked the funny alien invasion premise; it's simple, but it felt like it could have been used for an episode of a show on 4Kids or similar networks.

Needless to say, I loved playing through PIZZA PLANET. As a lot of other people were saying in their reviews, I think your game definitely deserves to win the game jam! :D

I look forward to seeing if y'all decide to continue developing the idea even further...

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! My main inspiration for the game was pizza tower, and it was heavily inspired BY wario land games. (especially 4)

Developer(+1)

glad you liked the UI ;)

Submitted(+1)

I was very impressed with this game. Did you make the soundtrack yourselves? It's amazing and really fits the vibe. I played through the whole game and really enjoyed it. There were a few places where I got stuck where the required timing was tight (when you first introduce the bomb and have to use it to jump), but it made me appreciate that you placed the save spots liberally. For a 10 day effort, it's hard to do any better than this.

Developer

Thank you! Yes, our composers made the soundtrack during the jam. I'm glad you enjoyed!
