I had a lot of fun with this game! I think the core loop is simple but compelling and there's a lot of potential here. Nice job!
Great submission! My high score was 4797, and this game really sucked me in! I really like the way you used the coin for everything. Balancing between buying a shield and shooting enemies was a good trade off. The only nitpick I have is I wish the max hp were displayed somewhere so the player can know how much healing they'll get.
I think you're nailing the finding a fun core mechanic vibes here! I was trying to play some of the game jam submission while double tasking and catching up on shows. TOTALLY MISSED EVERTHING, and just lost myself in this game play lmao, great job. I had a lot of fun with this one!
Reminded me of one of those mobile game ads (in a good way). Ended up putting most of my points into movement just so I could get the coins. Pretty fun little loop and a great entry!
I got 6545!
I couldn't find any audio settings sadly :(. If the health show how much my hp/maxhp it would have helped me choose to heal or max health. I could not really tell the difference between increasing movement.
Other than that you have very nice visuals! liked the U.I. Loved the square trees and enemies came at me had great models. When things got really hard I found myself relying on your sound effects to keep going. You did amazing!
I had fun with this!! I got to level 12 and enjoyed the feeling of increasingly getting stronger, faster, and tankier. I thought this was a really chill game and enjoyed playing :)
Nice game loop, it's simple but fun and addicting. I just couldn't stop playing and reached 18 level.
Visuals are nice, throwing coins is cool approach to "spending" them :D
There was issue with sound not looping after while of playing
Congratulations on your first submission!
This was a fun little game. The single resource worked well. Initially I was trying to shoot every enemy, until I realized I was not gaining anything from them. Then I reversed course and just tried to avoid all of them. I was so focused on movement, I forgot about the shield and had built up a lot of unused coins when I died. That run reached level 14 or 15. I didn't remember if I'd leveled up since last looking and the game over covers the level. I would move the game over down a bit so you can see your final level. My score was a bit over 4100. I only realized I should have been using the shield after losing, so I retried with the same strategy, except always keeping the shield up. I found that the shield is wider than you are and would get hit when you could have evaded with no damage, especially when squeezing along the edges, so that did require a bit more planing of my route. I managed to get to level 28 and a score of 5866 on that run. I don't think I fired a single shot in it. My level up started by focusing on movement then max HP and occasional heals. My final max HP was around 15.
I think the coin pickup collisions could be a bit more in the player's favor. I often missed a coin I thought I should have gotten. I think the camera angle was messing with my judgement a bit. On the other hand, the narrow collision area was in the player's favor for avoiding enemies.
With most of the game relying on keyboard for movement, it would be nice if the upgrade inputs did as well. Late game it was a bit jarring going when you leveled up, and then as soon as you clicked you had to go back to dodging with the keyboard.
Overall, a good jam submission.
Love the utilization of one resource - the coins. Would like to see the arcade vibe cranked to 11
Cool idea, I really liked the balance between using my money for bullets and upgrades, nice!
thank you I appreciate the kind words
Ah, a tried-and-tested runner. Fun! If I were to suggest an improvement, it would be to make the enemies spawn a little less randomly (perhaps add some formations) and maybe throw a little visual feedback on the hits? Great game though!
I agree! this is something I had in mind but would have needed some adjustment in my spawner logic and unfortunately couldnt make it to that point
Thank you for your time and for testing my game
Fun little arcad game. I would complain a bit about the i-frame from enemy, when the game start to get really fast, with the i-frame if you don’t one-shot them you can’t kill them because the coin just pass throw. It may also work grate for a mobile game with how casual and easy to pick up.
thats good feedback thank you for playing my game!
Coins feel a bit scarce at the start of a round although things tend to balance out once there are more enemies and coins spawning. Maybe having the enemies also drop coins when you defeat them could help, otherwise it feels a bit punishing losing all your coins in the beginning.
Had good fun otherwise, scored around 3k+
You're totally right! This is something that was bothering me a bit but I ran out of time to adjust it
Thanks a lot for your time and good feedback
I shot all my coins at the beginning not realizing they were one time use lol
Cute little game I played until around level 30 and called it quits. Well done!
Thanks a lot for playing my game!
Got a high score of 3358! Taking damage every level up is really powerful. I had fun!
Thank you for playing 😁
Theme application and game design was well done. Overall nicely polished, I had no bugs or anything.
Thank you for trying the game and the nice words !
This was a well done game. The bonuses had a measurable effect. I see you used the new KayKit models. Always love seeing KayKit models in a game! The music choice was good too. Upbeat and soothing at the same time. Very chill gameplay experience for this type of game.
My biggest issue was lack of controller support, as playing on a keyboard hurts my wrist. It takes about a minute to add. Something to look into for next time.
Nice job for your first jam!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it
I agree controller support would have been an easy addition, I will remember this for my next projects
