Some very interesting ideas and mechanics in this! I really liked the idea of controlling a ghost to help the player progress. It reminds me a lot of the gameplay in the Planet of Lana if you've played that game.

I also appreciated that there is a skill element (with timing the jump and how "hard" you jump) to the game too and not just purely puzzle solving.

I did come across a bit of jank when trying to mask out walls whilst the character was inside the same area. Sometimes the ghost would push the player out depending on which squares are selected.

Other than that, really good job on this one!

This was neat!

Some mouse controls for the ghost would have been nice and i did find myself cursing out loud because of one particularly long jump back to a checkpoint.

Besides that,  i think it's a really clever and unique take on the theme, the ghost moving infront/behind of the player looks cool and i think your artwork looks very nice!

Good job all!

This was realy well done. Looks and sounds great.

I did mond myself tryign to draw the box with the mouse though.

Love the fact you did something different with the theme too!

Fantastic game! Super well-executed. The masking was a super cool idea, controlling the ghost was fun, the audio went well with the whole vibe, and the puzzles felt challenging, but fair and clever.

I'll admit, I didn't get the whole way through, but it was enjoyable the whole time I played!

Finish time in 18. Felt like maybe if the ghost were controlled by the mouse it would allow for more flow. Neat mechanic. Well put together. Solid entry. Nice job.

Awesome idea for the theme.

I liked that I was able to float around the area to get a better sense of direction by using the ghost. Movement speed felt just right where it felt fast, but not uncontrollable when drawing the mask.

Music and sounds fit pretty well.

The pacing of the levels was done pretty well. It wasn’t too difficult, but it wasn’t easy either.

Nice puzzle game with good execution!

Wow, that was a really impressing game. The visuals are great and the puzzles felt really good! I just think the ghost movement was a bit weird to get used to. I couldn't finish it today but I'll probably try it later.

Hey! You guys stole my idea!

Jokes aside, its nice to see that somebody else shares the same idea as me for this game jam. Personally, I think that this game would benefit from a bit more gimmicks besides blocks that reveal or hide themselves when masked, because you can only make so many level variations with 2 mechanics which makes the game monotonous. Despite that, the levels were still well-designed and the masking mechanic was smoothly integrated within the gameplay.

Also, not sure if this is intended, but sometimes I could lift up the mask over blue tiles while the player character is on it to instantly push me to the top. I think there's room to explore the interactions between player and masked/unmasked tiles, like perhaps you could push the player with tiles to launch them in a certain direction.

Thanks for the feedback

We can totally add some more gimmicks for the game, but the time frame does not allow it. So we make use of what we have.

That push-up mechanic was indeed intended xD, we found it quite cool, so we decided to leave it and make it act like a hidden mechanic. The velocity boost could be very nice, but it may make or break the game, and we designed this game to be a puzzle-focused, not platforming, so... We still have room to explore the mechanic a bit more by making a downward level, but as u may have guessed, not enough time xD

Thanks again, hope you had a good time playing our game

Developer

Haha, I was pushing to get more gimmicks in, but in the end we had somewhat of a late start and just didn't have the time. I think it did us well to have to explore the simple interactions of these two block types for puzzlemaking, though - simpler is often better, after all, and I don't think either of us had much experience making puzzles before this!

It's very creative to use "masks" in the sense we use them in image editing software (I imagine that's the idea), it worked very well with the puzzle/platformer style.

The learning curve works well; I never felt lost without knowing how to proceed.

I think the color palette you used conveys a really cool sense of adventure and exploration.

Congratulations on the game!

Loved every minute of it!

Creative AF!

Cute AF!

I hope you will get to flesh it out into at least 6 hours!

An incredible submission, there's so much content in here for a jam game! The controls are great and the puzzles feel very satisfying and the visual style is adorable. I had some strange behaviors with the player character when masking/unmasking an area the player was inside of, he got pushed through blocks and skipped half the puzzle once but most of the time he'd just get all jittery and then be forced down. Pretty niche bug though, this is a very well put together game!

Thanks for playing :D

It's not a bug, I was a feature, you can make some intended skip with that mechanic :D

We discovered it during our playtest and found it's quite fun to make use of that

I liked the use of the theme where you mask the walls with the ghost - I might have liked it if I could use the mouse but that is a small thing. I'm not great at platformers so didn't reach the end but I enjoyed the bit I played.

A nice unique interpretation of the theme, unfortunately i found the the actual masking quite cumbersome. I think it could have felt better if the ghost move back to the player when you exit ghost mode and if I could mask multiple things (within a limit) so the platforming could feel smoother.

Thanks for the feedback.

We decided to make the mask toggleable, so if you Tab to a character don't need to move the ghost back to the masking point to remask it.
