Amazing game!
I liked every aspect of it, from delightful visual effects and music to the crunchy puzzles. The core mechanical conceit is great, and both mechanics and level design do excellent work to unlock its full potential. Very satisfying difficulty curve and well-done tutorial.
Not much to add, actually. Loved it!
Thanks for playing! :))
Ha, I managed to beat it :D This is an all around awesome job - I love the visuals, I love puzzles and I love the light mechanics. I feel like it doesn't really follow the theme of the jam, but tbh, I think that being able to create an essentially complete concept like this is more impressive than following the theme.
Congrats on beating our game! (not many get that far lol) But our take on the visual theme was less focused on what was given, that being the TV itself. We decided to take an approach that appealed more to the isolating and lonely vibe the image gave. This is why the game was made to be about light and darkness. We also wanted to use the static element as a design and story choice (to hint the message that our protagonist did not belong where they were)
fun puzzle game with great visuals, the intro secuence was great. however i wish you could move by holding down WASD instead of having to click every time. but good work over all i had a lotta fun
Thanks! Definitely incorporating this for a future release :)
Really cool concept in My Light & Spirit — I like the way you blend light mechanics into the puzzles and how the stages progressively push strategy. I ran into a spot where dropping the light felt unintuitive (sometimes I missed the click), and the control for moving the light could use a little fine-tuning. One suggestion: allow rebindable keys (or use mouse click to drop/summon) and maybe add a subtle visual indicator on the tile you’re aiming to drop light on, so misclicks feel less punishing.
If you’ve got a moment, I’d love it if you checked out my game and dropped a rating: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977
— thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃
Thanks for the feedback! Definitely incorporating these suggestions in a future update :)
Got to the end after a while, and a great deal of trial and error with the light reflections. Very good game, and quite fleshed out considering the jam's duration.
Congrats on making it to the end! lots of people did not make it that far lol
Wow, a testament to what a truly great full team can do within the time frame. This one was a treat. Simple, but evolved nicely. I unfortunately didn't make it to the end, I've a bunch of other games I have to get to tonight and I got stuck on the one where the mirrors were introduced. Loved the art, the framing story, the light mechanics. Well done all around!
Glad you enjoyed your time with it! :)
Great game, great ambiance and I love mechanics that use 'light'. I'm a big fan of puzzle games so this was a nice find. I didn't really find much of an alignment to the 'theme' of the jam but maybe that's just me - that's really the only point I can criticise. Beautiful art, simple but perfectly placed sound effects - great job guys.
Thanks for playing! ❤️ =)
Our interpretation of the theme was (obviously) not focused on the TV itself, but more focused on the vibe of isolation that the provided screenshot provoked. We tried to capture that feeling of darkness and isolation in the story and atmosphere along with the static as a detail through "staticy" blocks that ment to represent our character being an anomaly to this world
Great work!
Pretty cool! Fun, relaxing game. I can see how the animated pixels on the blocks look a bit like the TV.
Not sure how many levels there are. I got up to level 8 or so. (Maybe you should display the level # so we can keep track.)
Since we move the light with the mouse, I think it might make sense to drop/pick up the light by clicking the mouse button.
Thanks for playing! There are a total of 11 levels in the game so you were pretty close to the end
And the comment about the mouse is definitely fair, it seems we're planning to move forward with this project so a key rebinding system is planned! :)
Jeeeez!! 5/5 👏👏
This is truly awesome and really impressive it was created for a jam. I love all the cool mechanics you added here. Well done team!
Thanks for the kind comments!
Very well done. The level design is fantastic. I felt "smart" every time I figured out a solution. I think that is key to making an addictive puzzle game. I got to the level labelled "final stretch", but it was a bit too much for me.
Thanks our level designer will be happy to hear that!
Holy moly thank you I worked really hard on them 🥹
This is awesome!
Don't have much more to say about this one than what has already been said. This feels extremely polished already and like a perfect demo of what could be a full fledged game one day. I think the only small critique for me would be that I would have preferred the key for dropping/summoning the light to be the mouse click instead of shift. But that's something that a settings menu and rebinding would remedy easily enough.
Overall though this is absolutely amazing. I hope you all are happy with what you accomplished, as you definitely should be. Incredible work!
Thanks for playing our game! Key rebinding is definitely a must add feature in the future ;)
I have no idea why all the sounds in this gamejam are satisfying but this one is REALLY SATISFYING!! just gimmie a playlist of the sounds on repeat and ill listen to it when im making my games lol
Glad you enjoyed the game! And fyi, the sound effects were made with a software that can be found right here on itch, it's called chiptone, it may be in your interest to check it out lol
The only critique that I have is, that I didn't recognize where the theme was (I saw your other comment afterwards). Great game though, I liked it
Thanks for playing! Hope you appreciated the rather abstract take on the theme c:
Such a fun and creative game! Love the pixel art and the animated tiles and there are so many cool mechanics in this. Also like the visual novel style intro a lot. Awesome job I'll definitely play this again!
As the one who was responsible for all the pixel art, I am happy to hear that! I think the static effect on the blocks turned out a lot better than I initially expected as well
Incredible game! The mechanics are really creative, the levels are fun, the art looks good, incredible job!
Thanks a lot for playing! The art and levels are also some of my favorite parts too :)
Marvelous game! Extra high level of execution. Art is beautiful, story is simple yet compelling, tutorial is clear, mechanics introduction is gradual and the difficulty curve is well done. Oh yeah, and puzzles! Those are great!
This is the first game I have nothing bitter to say about on this jam. It’s just a perfect little game that everyone here, including myself, should consider to learn from.
Thanks for playing our game! This is high praise as an enjoyer of your game as well lol
