I felt immersed by the Communistic style during the text sequences, though I found that the actual gameplay felt rather disconnected from that style. I enjoyed the intuitive controls. Some more focus on user feeback could make this game shine even more, for example making everything go like a faster-than-light fade when going over a speed booster or a screen shake when hitting a wall.

Thank you for your constructive feedback! Yeah, I didn't really pay attention to cohesion between story delivery and gameplay, probably because the decision to add the story story to drive the game was added after the visuals were already mostly done. If I improve it further I will consider the suggestions you made :)

Very challenging!

Simple and effective gameplay delivered with a very nice presentation. I also enjoyed the extra effort went into the background lore text. It was fun and polished, although a bit steep challenge wise. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback. I am glad you liked the background story, at some point that became the main driver for me to push the game to the finish before the deadline :). The gameplay is a bit challenging and I did not put much effort into making the learning curve smoother. So that's definitely something to consider if I do some more work on this.

GLORY TO OUR DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT! (now with internet)

Really enjoyed the music and the contextualization, specially the latter, considering it's a simple game, the story behind it gave it charm. Maybe the points could be used for upgrades or items (like restoring health, time slow, skins for the player, etc...) it could give more incentive to the player to reach for those tricky locations. Very fast paced which I love, managed 28110 points! The graphics were simple but pretty, maybe the boxes and the player could be more detailed, but it was nice that the boxes changed colors between levels.

If you thinking of doing more with this one, I suggest you release it to smartphones, controls should feel really good on'em :)

Rly enjoyed it, keep it up!

Hey, thanks for the feedback and all the suggestions. I really like the idea with spending points for some upgrades, at least replenishing lives would definitely be a welcome addition. Good score too, your country thanks you! :D

I already implemented touch controls just for fun and to test how to implement that at all. I also moved the HUD to the upper part of the screen for that purpose. I have to say that personally I found it easier to play on keyboard than by touch. But there was no additional tweaking besides simple mapping of touch behavior to existing keyboard controls. I might continue working on it and throw it as a freebie on Play store if it turns out to be cool.

Well done comrade! WE did OUR best to get OUR country connected!

Letting go of the movement buttons is the hardest thing I ever had to do in a game. :D Fantastic game though, really enjoyed it. Not much to say - level design was pretty clean, overall gameplay was simple to understand but not always easy to execute (simply because difficulty progression). Great game.

Pretty The music is really calming, a good contrast to the constant dodging you have to do. The art style is simple but matches the atmosphere, and the animations feel good as well.

I think that some decelerators are unavoidable however? Like once you've chosen a path, a decelerator would appear out of nowhere and there'd be no way to dodge. I think it'd be better if power downs only appear in places that we could dodge, so we get the feeling that we have a chance to avoid it. As it is, some decelerators are random and unavoidable.

Overall a pretty nice game!

Developer

Hey, thanks so much fort the constructive feedback. The unavoidable decelerators were kind of intentional, maybe to give more incentive to "master" the optimal pathing. But I guess that can be a double edged sword. Perhaps a good solution would be to make them avoidable every time, just to prevent player from loosing speed, but still provide a better path which would give additional point bonus if chosen. I was also considering making a level where you would start with a very high speed and would be practically forced to slow yourself down a bit to be able to survive at all, but ended up not implementing that due to other priorities :)

I like this calm but at time alarming atmosphere.

Want to see this game on mobile.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated!

I haven't tried making anything for mobile so far, but given that there's basically just two input events I'd need to handle I might just give it a try :)

I'm a hero of this country \o/ with a PB of 23249! Neat game, I admit I skipped a bit on the story but I loved the action part! Good job!

Developer

Congratulations hero, the country thanks you for your service and feedback! My revolutionary counterpart managed to do a bit better but not by much. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Hey! Great entry! It's nice to see kind of "surfer-style" game on a Jam!

Good job on the art style, that feels very coherent. The controls felt a bit weird to me and the collisions not that forgiving, even on the first levels. I really liked the mechanics being introduced on the beginning and how it actually teaches to play the game, that's lovely!

And thanks for including a button for cutscene skipping! Great job man, kudos!

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate it. The controls were done that way intentionally, wanted to have something different from classic push to move. But I have to admit I struggle with them sometimes as well, especially when things get fast and hairy :)
