Game Description
Build a larger and larger machine to survive. Spend gold to buy blocks with powerful abilities and defeat enemies to collect rare relics!

How does your game tie into the theme?
This fits into "expansion" because the main theme of the game is to build your machine to be larger and larger to progress in the game. The main upgrade is also "expansion", which zooms out and lets the machine grow even larger

Never had so much fun dropping things in my life. A great take on a Rube Goldberg machine, and a really unique concept. This would do great as a polished game, I'm positive of it. Well done.

a phenomenal game! Not only the user friendliness with all the balls being simulated during the building phase, but all the little effects on the balls, the damage animations, the flavour text on the power ups and the little enemies.

Amazing work! I can't even begin to fathom how you pulled it off!

This is a really neat and unique game!  There is an impressive amount of polish and I really like that you give out enough gold to allow me to really experiment with the different block types!  It would be helpful to be able to select and move a group of blocks at once and to be able to rotate blocks with the mouse scroll wheel.

My preferred strategy was a long chain of splitters sending a flood of marbles into a bowl shape of damage, which was both effective and allowed me to fully experience the satisfying bounce of the marbles!

Developer

Thank you so much! Quality of life and making it easy to edit your machines is definitely something we'll improve on moving forward :) Happy to tell you that scroll to rotate is also on the table as well.

The chained splitters is a fan favorite from what I've seen this past week! I love how there's no end to the creativity of our players!

This was great, it's very easy to get very overpowered, but it flows really well and the mechanics are very simple.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha that is true that it's easy to scale up your power. But nothing beats that feeling of seeing your machine grow into something insanely strong. Glad to hear you liked the game. Thanks for yplaying!

I loved the game

Developer

Thank you! So happy to hear you say that :D

I think this is one of my favorite games this jam. It was so much fun to play and I spent way too long in the endless mode to see how far I could get. The upgrades feel powerful, the physics are nice and predictable, and the feedback on the bounces is great!! It was a bit on the easy side, but that’s good tuning for a game jam. I would love to see a more developed version of this and would definitely download it if it came out!

Fantastic work!

Here’s my build, was finished after 2 or 3 enemies, and basically gave me enough shields to ignore the enemies’ attacks if they even survived that long:

Developer

makes my day to hear that! I'm really happy you enjoyed playing -- we both want to continue pushing this idea farther as well and seeing what sort of awesome experiences we can enable. Thank you for showing me your build! It's interesting to see what kind of different blocks/strategies people went for in their machines :)

This was honestly an amazing jam submission, I loved the art-style, the music, the polish, everything felt really great about this game. Given a bit more content and I could definitely see something like this being sold on steam. The only thing I wanna mention is that the game felt a little too easy to be honest, it's cool if that's what you were going for, but I didn't really have to put that much brain power into it and I beat the whole game. Still one of the best games I've seen in this jam so far, congrats to you both!

PS: here's my build if you guys wanna see it

Developer(+1)

Really appreciate it! We worked hard on making sure everything aligned into one game feel. We love to hear the vote of confidence, expanding and tightening this game up is our number one priority :)

Re: the difficulty, yeah unfortunately balancing is not something we had time for by the end of the jam, but we prioritized endless mode instead as a solution for those REALLY wanting to push the limits of their machines. I'm grateful you took the time to play our game and a big thank you for letting us see what kind of cool machine you've built!

Submitted(+1)

I'm so glad you included an endless mode because I was already hooked by the time the endgame popup appeared! Really impressed by this game and I'd love to see you continue expanding upon it.

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words, c0mputerbug! I knew endless mode would be a big hit considering the open-endedness of the game :) I'm very happy you enjoyed it!

It's like Peglin on meth and I'm in love?? I'm glad to hear this is something you're interested in expanding on cause this idea is brimming with potential.  Great work, I'll keep an eye on this for sure

Developer(+1)

Hahaha Peglin was definitely an inspiration for us when making the game. We will definitely continue working on it, especially after seeing how everyone enjoyed it so much!!

Incredible  Job!

The combination of systems, works so  well! Its just a  blast to see your creations take on a  life on its own with all the marbles bouncing around!

One of the best of this Jam imo :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for the high praise! Really happy to hear you enjoyed yourself :)

This game is so clever. What a cool idea. Very well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much!! We took a lot of inspiration from other roguelike games (which we both love playing!) to flesh out this weird idea, so very glad you enjoyed it!

Great very fun and addictive my only issue that it is very easy but its a 10/10

Developer (1 edit)

Wow 10/10?? Honestly overjoyed to hear that, and so happy you had fun playing!! There's a lot of things to improve (the difficulty being a big one), but hearing feedback like yours makes us even more motivated to continue building this out even further -- thank you!!

Yes to make in 9 days im impressed ill play it again next update 👍👍👍

I really enjoyed this one!  It was really fun to tinker around and create some really broken designs.  While parts may feel unbalanced, I feel like that's kind of part of the fantasy of a RGM and seems fitting for the game. I wish I had more time to really experiment with different designs and layouts.

A few extra thoughts:

  1. The tutorial takes a second to load in, which causes a little initial confusion.  It's also possible to soft lock it, which was funny when I did it on purpose, but may not be to some other people.
  2. It would be nice to have a way to either pause or clear the balls in the building phase.
  3. In endless mode, it seemed to scale health and attack values directly, which is great for the shared experience feeling between players.  If you plan to develop the game further, as a challenge, it would be really cool to have an adaptive kind of scaling that responds to player choices in the previous rounds.

Developer

First of all -- thank you for taking the time to play through, review, and upload your VOD! I wish I was able to catch you live, but I had such a great time watching you play through not only our game but other submissions as well. Nothing beats being able to see someone react and play through these games for the first time :)

And thank you for deliberately trying out different blocks and patterns while building your machine! It's so helpful to hear your thoughts and feedback, we really want to continue improving on this so these are focus areas that we'll hopefully build into the game very shortly.

Glad you enjoyed the game! We'll definitely be adding much more to it after the jam ends, so stop by and build another machine when you get the chance!

Really cool concept and a great game! Very nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Yay glad you enjoyed!! Thank you for the kind words!!

Very fun game I can see it being really addicting! Creative concept, and pretty fun to make weird machines. I think the progression/enemy scaling could be tweaked to make it more challenging to beat enemies. Especially in infinite mode I found that the amount of shield n marbles made it so that I never took damage. I also think it would be great to have a time speed up button once you trigger the machine as with a lot of marbles it took a long time for all the marbles to fall. Overall loved this submission a lot though and thought it was visually/conceptually/creatively stunning. Great job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you very much!! It's super funny to create weird machines and try out different styles of play, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the artwork and idea -- we spent a ton of time brainstorming, drawing and figuring out the style we liked. Totally hear you on the balancing aspect, we wanted to make it approachable at first, but we're aiming to revisit and hopefully make that difficulty just right!

Again, thanks for stopping by to try out our game :)
