How does your game fit the theme?
The gameplay area is limited to a circular disc and as the player defeats enemies, their "corpses" pile up and further limit the safe space for the player to move around.

Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
I had so many more ideas I wanted to incorporate; I would love your feedback (be as harsh as you want) so I can incorporate it as I continue working on this project after the jam.

Ridiculous level of polish on this one, game is absolutely dripping with juice, great job team!! Best visuals and use of the limited shapes I've seen so far in the jam, easily a 5/5. The different particle effects and animated backgrounds and alpha manipulations works very well overall and creates an impressive vibrant atmosphere with only 2 allowed shapes. I loved the effect on the green stage that slowly pushed the bodies to the outside of the circle, very neat. The music is great throughout, with cohesive sfx that works in tandem with the visuals to create an intense arcade-y experience. The gameplay itself was fun but didn't especially stand out in the same way. I found the best strategy to be to stand in place with the mouse held down and then move only when necessary, the aoe attacks and bullets from enemies helped to mitigate this but I never really had the combat click with me. The theme is another 5/5; the premise of dead enemies blocking your environment is great and the concept of limited space shines. One critique is that main menu layout is pretty confusing and not nearly up to the high bar of visual quality set by the rest of the game. I didn't realize the purple and red levels existed until I came to rate the game and noticed the additional screenshots, and the title text is borderline ineligible. It's a jam so not a huge deal, but some more visual clarity here would help, as its the players first exposure to the game and first impressions matter. The leaderboard is also a great touch. Overall, I enjoyed my time with your game; the premise fits the theme perfectly, the music/sfx are great, and the visuals are out of this world. Awesome entry!!

ahh i saw this on discord, i thought it was a ship/ radar game. nonetheless, this was super fun. the controls were so smooth (i liked the trail), and the enemy corpses being danger zones really made me feel the theme. the graphics are super nice, and the levels look absolutely insane. If i had to give some feedback, my finger was constantly holding down left click (sounds pretentious, sorry) so maybe it could be auto? since there is no ammo restriction. anyway, this doesnt take away from the fun gameplay. Gg.

Developer

I was addicted to your game for a good hour when I played it. Thanks for the feedback!

no way an hour 🥹 . that makes me so happy to hear, thank you <3

A little shooting game nice!^^ Sadly I'm terrible at it ending up in the 50 seconds range. + points for arrow key support.

Very stylish and well-crafted game that uses the jam’s constraints in a creative way. Strong visuals and engaging game play make it fun to play! Nice entry. This is what I thought:

Game play / Fun / Engagement ●●●●●
The game play is smooth and fun, with well-paced action. However, it sometimes feels like you’re getting hit by “nothing,” which can get frustrating over time...but this is just my own skills :D Different difficulties, leader board...very good! 5/5

Art Style / Visuals ●●●●●
The art style is excellent. You made great use of the limited shapes, with clean visuals, fitting colors, and polished particle effects. Animations add to the overall feel without overloading the screen and colors fit as well. A clear 5 out of 5.

Audio / Sound Design ●●●●○
The audio and SFX fit the game play well, though the menu sound design is less catchy. Nothing particularly stands out, but everything works. Solid 4 out of 5.

Theme ●●●●●
The theme fits perfectly. The limited space is clearly present, and it becomes even more constrained as you dodge enemies and their attacks. A creative and well-executed interpretation, earning a full 5 out of 5.

Developer

Damn, it's always the music.

This was very fun! Having the corpses of enemies take up space was a great take on the theme. The gameplay and art were great, but my favorite part was the music and audio. It felt like the whole gameplay lined up perfectly with the music like I was playing a rhythm game. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing, happy you enjoyed it. Syncing with the audio was intentional, so glad it was noticeable :)

THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Half the games here have some point system but it's the online leaderboards, that make it the good game with points great!

If this game had one level, this would be great, but you made three. I think that the green one is the best balanced. The purple one has huge enemies, that take too much space (then again, that the theme, right?), and the red one is a bit too hard (didn't finish, always killed with last five guys left).

Presentation is perfect. You can always see what's going on, who is alive, and who is not. Well... almost. Fire level is too pretty. The effect looks awesome, but is't a bit distracting, and in a game where reflex and precision count this is the difference between being on a leaderboard and not :)

Audio is perfect. You can focus on fighting and dodging, and still you know when new guys appear!

As for the theme, you landed it- the space is limited, and it only becomes more limited. You can clear it a bit, but it costs time, so it's a bit of risk-reward situation.

There is one thing I would change, and it's not about the game. The thumbnail. When I clicked it, I was CERTAIN it was a puzzle game about letters. Seriously- delete it, take the screenshot from the fire level, and use it instead.

One of the best games of the jam!

Developer

I’m glad you liked it.

This was all a pretty experimental game and so was the thumbnail but maybe a short game jam is not the best place to subvert expectations so I made a couple alternatives, let’s see how they go.

Thanks for playing and your detailed message.

This game is incredibly beautiful! It’s amazing to see the visual style you pulled off here, especially with such strict shape limitations. Even though the menu was a bit simple, the in-game visuals are more than impressive enough to make up for it.

I really liked the core concept of your game — it’s super creative to make space more limited by using the bodies of the enemies. At first, I thought I might get confused when I couldn’t move through defeated enemies, but once I started playing, I saw that the contrast was clear enough not to be frustrating. Great job on that!

Having a scoreboard with player names adds a really nice replay factor — and I’d even say it encourages healthy competition. I’m not usually that competitive myself, but I still found myself trying to beat the top scores haha (unfortunately, I didn’t manage to).

The gameplay variety is great, and the unique traits you gave to each planet really help keep the experience engaging. Overall, this is truly a well-done piece of work.

Even though I found the difficulty to be a bit high, I still had a lot of fun. Maybe adding a slightly longer delay between enemy waves could help ease that difficulty a bit. I’m not sure if that fits your vision, since the focus seems to be on fast-paced action — but having even a short moment to reorganize the enemy bodies could open the door for more strategic decisions and make the game feel just a bit fairer.

I saw that you’re planning to expand the project further, right? I’m excited to see what’s next, because this is a really strong concept. Congrats on the game — I wish you success in its development, and good luck in the jam!

Before wrapping up, one last thing: it might be a good idea to be cautious with the game’s intense colors. Offering an option for different color palettes could be a great addition, as some players are quite sensitive to strong visual effects.

Developer(+1)

Definitely we have a couple ideas to take this further after the jam, maybe including a few extra shapes as well :)

There was a comment about the particle effects being a little intrusive and maybe adding an option to tune down the colors or camera shake would be another accessibility option. I found myself checking the “Reduced motion” option in Balatro as well a couple times.

Fantastic use of the theme, having the corpses pile up and limit the space even further was inspired. It looks great, especially the fire-y level. The sheer quantity of content here is impressive for a jam, and I can see how much further you can take this post-jam! I do love a little arcade-y top down shooter, if I had the time I'd crack the top scores on all of them 😉

Really beautiful looking game and super fun to play, although a bit difficult for me since i find dodging bullets pretty difficult! The art looks amazing and the visual and audio feedback is superb! I couldnt get past the first level after a few tries, but i will try more for sure later since the levels look really awesome in the screenshots. I loved the movement pattern of the enemies, felt very quirky and unpredictable and gave it quite a character instead of just having a straightforward movement. The theme was also incorporated well with the corpses filling up the space! Great entry!

The game is really fun and well made! the bullets getting blocked by the corpses isnt really a mechanic im fond of I find it annoying and just hard to control. also the leaderboard shouldnt have multiple scores for the same person I really wanted to optimize my time but i didnt want to clutter the leaderboard with my name.

Developer (1 edit)

The corpses interacting with the bullets was a conscious choice to make the “limited space” theme more meaningful. There is a strategy to actually push the corpses away so they stick out of the way, also to reinforce the theme of the jam.

Do not worry about the leaderboard. I see you cracked the top spot in all 3 worlds. I can change the settings from the backend any time, I will make it so only the top score is recorded moving forward.

Thanks for playing.

I just found a bug that you could press escape after dying and continue the game. (I was the test score)

Developer

Good catch. Thanks for letting me know!

I really liked the idea of the space being progressively limited by the destroyed enemies. The use of the pentagon shape feels a bit artificial—outside of this jam its use would be perplexing. The style is good—someone noted psychedelic colors—I liked them.

Submitted

Hey there! Good job on the game :D it's a nice gameloop and the leaderboards are also a nice touch. I didn't understand how to beat the last level as the pentaon in the center seemed unkillable to me.

The art is nice and clear, the red level is a little strong on the colors though (I just noticed it while writing it that my eyes are tired out by the strong bright colors).

All in all though the game was fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing.

In the red world, once you kill everything, there is a bunch of debris that you have to push around (projectile impacts will nudge it) and move around to find an opening. Alternatively you can try to kill it before there is a bunch of debris blocking. I originally made it invincible until you killed everything else and had a much higher health bar and bombs but I toned it down a little.

The color and music are intentionally uneasy but we could also tune it down a notch. I’ll look into adding an option to disable or limit the particle effects.

This game is a little difficult for me, I only made it to the second level. Not a fan of the music but I like the psychodelic looks.

I have nothing to say except your game is very amazing

Cool submission. I feel like it as a lot of good things in place. Maybe clean up the ui a bit, found it at bit confusing at first.
