So glad you liked it! I’m really happy the puzzles turned out fun and not frustrating. Thanks for the feedback!

Glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback! On your point about the keys - I they are pretty core to the puzzle element. They affect the player’s size, you can throw them, and also use them to launch. What do you think about the player being able to choose which item they launch next? I considered adding this feature and I thought it might address your issue while still keeping the puzzles the same.

Thanks! Yes good call, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

Glad you liked the game! You’re right it probably makes sense to keep the music playing when the level restarts. And yes the launch indicator was a highly requested feature. Appreciate the feedback!

Maybe some particle effect when the balls merge into a bigger one? I played on my desktop and noticed that the game only took up a small portion of the area at the top left. I’ll try to send a screenshot later.

The concept for this game is a great match for the limited shapes and limited theme! The cell-shaded graphics were very nice too. My main feedback would be that the game is a bit too hard. I think dialing down the input sensitivity and reducing the amount of bounce from obstacles would go a long way in making the game more accessible. And then you can always make it harder as the game progresses. Overall, nice job and congrats on your first game!

Thanks for playing, so glad you liked it! Yeah, building the levels out of pentagons ended up working perfectly with the concept of the game. Nice when things work out like that

Even though the art was quite simple I think it was very effective, especially with the cool background. I think the gameplay would be more fun if the controls were a bit more responsive. Right now it feels pretty floaty. Otherwise, nice job getting this done in 2 days!

Wow I had a lot of fun with this game! I liked that the upgrades felt really powerful and eventually I was strong enough where I could just leave my mouse and let the game do the rest.  Well done with the power-ups as well, I liked that there were some variety. The graphics and audio were very basic, but definitely got the point across. Overall, well done and congrats on making this whole thing on your phone??

So glad you liked it! I didn't even realize it worked well on mobile lol. I updated the game page to say it's mobile friendly. Thanks for your feedback!

Very cool visuals on this game, I especially liked the sandstorm effect. The gameplay was solid but felt a little slow while waiting for the bubble to move. It would've been fun to add some power ups like a way for the player to heal up or move faster. Overall, solid submission!

Really liked the art on this game, well done! The gameplay was interesting too and did a great job at matching the theme. I liked how each level introduced a new mechanic. It did seem weird that the levels keep progressing even when you lose. On one hand it's nice that the player can experience all the levels (especially for a game jam), but on the other hand it felt like I wasn't learning the right strategies while the gameplay was simpler. Anyways, great job!

I really like the design of the characters and world using only circles! Also nice job adding a boss fight with some cool mechanics. I liked how the enemies got more difficult as the game progressed, but it would be great if the player got some power ups as well to make the gameplay more interesting. Nice job with this game!

This was a fun little shooter that matched the theme really well! I thought the bubble sprites looked great and the wave effect when you shoot the edge of the bubble was pretty cool. I would've loved to see some variety in the gameplay, like maybe some power ups that the player can pick up. It did get pretty hard towards the end and sometimes seemed a bit unfair when you spawn in and get bounced around immediately. Overall nice entry though!

The cutting mechanic was a really clever take on the limited space theme! Also way to go above and beyond on the graphics, music and intro cutscene. The rules on which shapes can be included seemed pretty strict so I'm curious how the organizers will handle it. Great job with the game though!

Haha thanks so much, glad you liked it!

Bouncing the ball against the walls of the pentagon was so fun - great mechanic for the theme! Both the art and sound were clean and minimalistic in a good way. My main piece of feedback was that it was hard to tell why I was losing health. I might've missed it in the tutorial but having a more visual indication would've been helpful. Overall, great job with this game!

Thanks for playing! That's an interesting idea to undo the last shot - I didn't think about that. I tried to make all the levels short enough where a full restart wouldn't be too bad, but I agree it would make the game more forgiving. Thanks for the feedback!

The art for this game was really cool - the retro wireframe effect works great for the limited shapes. Gameplay-wise I would've loved a tutorial to get the basic gameplay, but after reading the game page I was able to play. It would also be great to have some visual indicator that an enemy has been targeted, and some more juice when destroying enemies. Nice submission though!

This game has really great atmosphere! Love the retro design - it fits the limited shapes theme well. My main feedback would be to make the movement a bit easier to control. It felt unresponsive, which is challenging when the game is a precision platformer.

Great job with the art and sound design on this one! You really made the most of the limited shapes and the game had a unique style. My main feedback would be to make the game a bit more forgiving, especially on the easy level. Maybe give the player 3 lives instead of just one?

Wow this is awesome! The skips you did on level 6 and 7 were so cool, I didn’t know that was possible. I had a feeling some players would be able to mess around with the physics system haha. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm happy that the level design and sound design came across well! Good call about adding direction / force indicators - I think that would give the player much more control.

(1 edit)

Great concept! I liked doing the unique missions at each pentagon - it kept the gameplay fresh and interesting. The style was interesting and there were some fun animations that elevated the experience a lot, like when beating a mission. The tutorial at the beginning was definitely helpful but it took me a second to realize I had to find the matching pentagon color to do the missions.  Gameplay-wise it would be nice to have some sort of warning indicator when an enemy was about to shoot. Overall, great job!

You've got a simple effective game loop here that fits the theme perfectly! I saw a couple comments about showing the next color, and I agree. It would give the player more strategies that would make the gameplay much more interesting. Some sound effects would've added a lot more polish too. Overall, nice job and congrats on your first solo game jam!

Nice job implementing a tower defense game with all these systems in a one week jam! The art was very clean too. I would have loved to have some tutorial or a way to introduce the mechanics to the player over time. It was a little confusing, but I did get a setup that worked pretty well at defeating the enemies. Overall, nice submission!

The highlight for me is the minimalist, clean design of the game. Great work on that! I'm sure you had more planned that didn't make it to submission, but congrats on getting something out there before the jam ended :)

This was very fun! Having the corpses of enemies take up space was a great take on the theme. The gameplay and art were great, but my favorite part was the music and audio. It felt like the whole gameplay lined up perfectly with the music like I was playing a rhythm game. Great work!

Great job with the theme for this game! I really felt the pressure seeing all the red pentagons closing in. As other folks commented, the visuals and audio could use some work, but the game design and difficulty curve was very strong. Keep it up!

Thank you!

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! It's a great idea to have explored the theme a bit more, I would've loved to add an extra mechanic around it. Also note to self to add a more exciting win screen next time haha. So glad you liked the game!

Thanks for playing, so glad you liked it! Art is definitely the most challenging part of game dev for me, so I'm excited to get better at it for the next jam. Really appreciate the feedback!

Cool idea to make the controls pentagon shaped to match the limited shapes theme! It was pretty fun to use after I got used to the controls. The graphics had great style and the music choice was great fit as well. I wish there were a few more sound effects for when you get hit or when you grow the circle. Overall, nice job!

I think this game fit the theme very well! The gameplay was very fun, but I did find it challenging to switch between tools (maybe that was the point). It would be nice if the hotkeys were closer together or could be switched with the mouse wheel. Overall, nice job!

This was very fun! I liked the way you used circles really effectively in the background to make it look like a dance party haha. My only issue was on the second song the gameplay seemed a bit off from the rhythm of the song. Otherwise great job!

Thanks for your detailed feedback! I'm glad you liked the game and noticed the design choices I made around the gameplay and sound design. Sorry you ran into the clipping bug, I was fighting with the physics system but couldn't get it fully fixed before submission.

This game fits the theme very well! It would be great to make the gameplay a bit more juicy with some animations and sound effects. Also, for me the graphics only took up a tiny portion of the screen - the camera could be positioned better.

Parallel parking is perfect for the limited space theme haha. The controls took a second to learn but once I did it was very fun to try to beat the other cars to parking spaces!

Creative use of the shapes to make all the buildings! I also thought this game was a great fit for the limited space theme. I think it would be fun to add something for the player to do while waiting for their resources. Maybe collecting extra materials or protecting the planet from aliens.

Looool thank you
