Great art style and music. I was a bit confused in the beginning what to do but the idea is interesting.

Keep up the work :)

bit of a weird game and i didnt really understand what i was ment to be doing but i was fun nevertheless

Developer

Thanks for playing. I’ll definitely make the mechanics simpler next time :(

That main menu is really cool, love how dynamic it is. The music, sound design and overall atmosphere is seriously impressive too amazing job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, glad you like it!

I managed to beat it and it took me two attempts. First attempt was to understand the concept and controls, which is fair for most games and game jam games especially as well. There is a pretty big gameplay breaking bug possibly, so I’ll probably not post it just yet as to not ruin the experience and the gameplay for others who have yet to try it, since as long as you don’t know about it, the game is a fun experience if you like these type of games. I don’t really have any new feedback to add that the other comments haven’t mentioned already. I will say the art and overall visual design was very well done. Great work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback. I’m really curious about where that bug showed up, since I’d like to fix it later. Plz let me know if you don’t mind!

Submitted

Well I don’t know if this was intended (I doubt since it completely breaks the gameplay loop) but you can upgrade everything without any candies when you start. I just went to the factory and spammed upgrade without any candies and having only 2 guys in the beginning working and I was able to make 2000 candies almost immediately and beat the game. So saying that in the comments a bit too soon could have ruined the fun for those who might not have noticed.

Developer(+1)

That’s an unexpected bug, definitely not something I planned, haha. Thanks for catching it, and also for being thoughtful about other players! I’ll fix it once the jam is over.

The art is so great!!! love the different character!

Developer

Thanks :D

Love the wordplay in the name! And the game itself is very funny, although a bit complex to get at first

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Really love the art style and the cute story! Audio was great as well! Amazing that you made this solo! Keep up the good work!!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I’ll keep working hard on making better games.

Having into consideration, you made the game by yourself, must say very good job! Loved the style of the game and the gameplay overall. I felt like i didn't use so much the controls, mainly left click and E. So maybe a suggestion try to not have controls that aren't much needed. But good work!

Developer

You’re right, cutting out some of the unnecessary mechanics would make the game far smoother. I overstuffed it with too many features :(

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!

Submitted

love the art style, beat the game in like, 30 minutes

Developer (1 edit)

Spending a full half hour on my game during the voting, that's a lot! Big thanks :D

Submitted

Its a bit hard to understand because there a too many instructions. Its not totaly clear how the upgrades have impact on the game. But overall really great visuals and a cute game.

Developer

The upgrades were meant to make the cookie factory produce more cookies, increase the casino’s winning rate, and improve the recruiter’s success chance. I didn’t explain it clearly though, sorry for the confusion! Really appreciate you playing and sharing your thoughts <3

This is honestly one of the cutest games I've played in this game jam. The art was so well done. I think the game play was a bit too confusing and there seems to be some issues with the candy motivation and the villagers standing at the recruitment but I'd love to see this as a fully developed game!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a try! I know the complexity of the controls is the biggest issue in this game. If I continue developing it, that’s the very first thing I’ll work on fixing!

Submitted (1 edit)

hey another spy game haha, love to see it. loved the visuals, audio and gameplay premise but definitely a bit too complicated for its own good.

Developer

Heyy, fellow spy game dev! You’re right, I made the controls way more complicated than they should have been, and that’s something I need to simplify going forward. By the way, I really liked how smooth and natural the controls felt in MasqueRaid, good stuff!

I had a fun time with this one, quite interesting and unique entry. I think the style and the music fit well together, and the chosen sounds are great. (Very casino like), i think the general art direction shines through everywhere, good job!

I feel like the problem is, it’s a bit too complicated, there are too many instructions at the beginning. It was quite hard to keep track of everything, for example i didn’t know if the upgrade building function did anything? It’s not clear what exactly that is for, is it really needed? Also not sure why there are so many types and what they all do. Then there are the sacrifices which get very specific, after i understood what type is what, i still didn’t have the right ones with the names available most of the time. It also seems like a lot of the workers are stuck at the spawning area, or just sitting around, and throwing candy didn’t seem to motivate them to work either.

So there is a great lack of clarity in gameplay for me, it’s not entirely clear which action does what exactly. The sacrifices for multiple workers (3 in 30s) is quite to high I think, this is not really doable. Even more annoying was, that the throwing mechanic didn’t work most of the time. The grabbing of a worker did work most of the time, but then i was mostly stuck with holding them. I couldn’t let go of them, and after clicking around for 10s it sometimes released them, but it seemed very buggy, which made the sacrifices even more impossible to achieve.

It would also be helpful if you could turn the camera to see the specific workers better, especially when they are in the hut, because especially for the “find by name” it was often to crowded to pick the right person, even if it was there.

So overall great style direction, but gameplay needs a bit of cleanup.

Developer

As you mentioned, I didn’t make the role of upgrades very clear, and many of the commands ended up confusing and overcomplicated. That turned out to be the biggest flaw of this project, and it’s definitely an area I’ll focus on improving.

For grabbing and throwing, the controls require aiming with the mouse before pressing space, which feels a bit clunky and can easily come across as buggy. As for camera rotation, I personally get motion sickness from 3D spins, so I avoided it here. Still, I’ll keep your suggestion in mind and think of better alternatives in future games. Thanks a lot for such a detailed review, it really helps me know how to improve next time!

One of the best games I've played so far! Kudos for beins a solo dev and managing to make a basically finished game. I could see this be expanded into a fully releasable game! Well done and the style is so cute and funky! Will keep an eye out for future projects C:

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the follow and the kind words! Reading through all the comments really showed me what I need to work on. Just hope my future games can show some progress bit by bit!

Submitted

I really enjoyed this, love the cult of the lamb vibes. I cant believe this is made by one person. I couldn't beat the game but I enjoyed every minute of it. Cant wait to see your future projects.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for enjoying the game and for the follow! I remember you’re also a solo dev, I really enjoyed Do it for Biscuit as well, and I’m also looking forward to seeing more of your projects :D

Really like the art, and animations. The idea is also great, though i don't think i exactly got how the gameplay works. On my first try i got 200 biscuits very easily but still somehow lost. And on the second one noone wanted to work and nothing was really happening. Also some of the requests feel a bit unfair, one of them asked for 5 guards in 20 seconds, which seems a bit tough.

Developer(+1)

I forgot to explain clearly. After collecting the biscuits, you have to wait for the Biscuit God to make a request before you can throw them into the altar… Sorry for the confusion. As for your second run (and thank you for playing twice!), the reason no one wanted to work is because if villagers eat too many biscuits, they become unhappy and refuse to work. In my own tests, I rarely had the whole village go on strike at once, but you happened to encounter it… I’ll improve this part, also I'll redesign the quest to make it more manageable. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Beautiful game, nice art and cute animation. I love villager management game. On the other hand, I did not completely understand how I could win the game, and the villager requested by the god was starting to get too frequent and too quick, and some times asked letter that I did not had in my village, maybe add something to ask a letter that the player got, and maybe add a bit more time to react. But this is so nice for the work of a week, gg

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! My original idea was that if the village didn’t have a villager with that name, the player would need to recruit a new one. But maybe this design isn’t very player-friendly, so I’ll think more carefully about it.

As for winning: the goal is to collect 200 biscuits and then wait for the Biscuit God to make a request—but I didn’t make that clear in the game, so I’m sorry it caused confusion. Thanks a lot for your feedback, I’ll definitely take it into consideration!

Submitted

VERY polished! Basically all of this was made by you? How did you manage to make so much stuff in just a week?

I didn't *quite* get the gameplay, but I had fun with it!

Developer

Actually, it didn’t take me that much time. I even went out to hang with friends in between, haha. The code was actually done in about two days, but the art took almost four days. You might have noticed, the player and villager animations are identical, which is why I was able to save a lot of work. I think I didn’t make the game instructions clear enough, so the gameplay feels confusing for players :( But thank you for playing and giving your feedback!

Submitted

I absolutely love the art and gameplay - everything feels very smooth! The premise of the story is also very creative. I do hope you could add a help button or include keybinds for the missions (e.g. for the tribute mission perhaps include a [SPACE]) for those who have forgotten the instructions at the beginning of the game. Otherwise, very fun and enjoyable and I must emphasize the art (it's so good)!

Developer (1 edit)

I accidentally added too many controls which might confuse players. I actually had a help page, but it was temporarily disabled due to a bug(it's fixed now!). Thank you for your suggestion and feedback, and thank you for liking my game <3

This game rules! I really love the aesthetic and visuals, even if the music is not made by you it was still a very good selection, every character design is sooo good! UI is very pleasant too, I wasn't able to beat the game sadly but even the animation for when you lose is really well made! I like all the different types of quests you need to do for the god and they got creative with having to only get villagers with a specific letter which I just thought was a really cool idea. My main issues are the understanding of the gameplay, I really didn't get why I didn't win despite getting 200 cookies and trying to throw them at the alter, it might be sleep deprived dumb brain though, also the picking up a villager input was very unresponsive, same with throwing, even if I found the villager I needed I simply couldn't pick them up half the time or even throw them. Still, really love this game, you're clearly extremely good at art and all the little details like the eye shape of the player changing when low on sanity and having them be sad looking in the bad ending was great! Just awesome work, hope this gets more attention as another commenter said!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply and encouragement! I’m honestly really flattered.

About the issue you mentioned with “throwing 200 cookies but still not winning,” that’s definitely my fault, it’s a known bug. But I’m also running on very little sleep right now, so I kind of sneakily left it unfixed for the moment, haha. Your actions were correct, the bug just miscalculates the cookies thrown into the altar, which is why it feels impossible to win sometimes :(

As for the problem with picking up villagers, I agree with you that the current feedback feels lacking, and my design choice (mouse aiming + spacebar to grab) might not be very intuitive. I’ll work on improving that.

Finally, thank you so much again for enjoying the game!

Submitted

I replayed the game after reading again properly and picking up villagers with the mouse feels good actually I just missed that you had to aim the first time (of course having some clearer UI to show it would be good) but it does the job, still ended up losing but it felt far more reasonable!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for replaying the game after my reply <3 Sorry to hear you didn't won the game... here’s a screenshot of the winning cutscene just for you. The Biscuit God was moved by your sincerity and regained its power!

Submitted

Yoooo, that was not what I was expecting XD, truly a glorious design! Once again your art is just really, really good!

Glad you liked it!
