How does the game fit the theme?
You, as player, need to find the cookies hidden in the dark kitchen. But attention, don't risk to wake the cat.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Main game assets : Modern Farm - RPG Tileset by LimeZu
Cat asset : 2D Pixel Art Cat Sprites by Elthen's Pixel Art Shop

Cookie asset : own creation

Sounds assets : Pixabay

Code : Some inspirations by "Game Code Library" tutorials

Simple and fun, great job for your first game! I was so scared of waking the cat lol.

Very fun little game! While it is short everything is very polished and it's a seriously good job for your first game!

A nice little game and congrats for your first game :) I would like to see this developed further ^^ The cat purring was so calming and I liked the flashlight effect. Keep up the good work! Also I found that you can walk out of the house when you go down at the beginning.

Congrats on your first game. Navigating in the dark with a flash light is fun, the goal is clear, and overall it felt fairly balanced. Visuals, audio, and UI communicated well. I think I found an area you could improve on- prevent the flash light from going beyond a wall- when I was near the wall facing the cat with the light, the  cat woke up.

Cool game, congrats for your first game and keep going, you have potential. Last cookie was in the cat's face lol, too risky

not bad for your first game, I would make the cookie texture follow the same grid as the other objects. Hope to see you around next jams

Had me on my toes, I thought the cat was walking around. Good lighting effect and sounds.

Developer

This might be a feature for a future version - I had it already on my list.

Pretty fun! One thing is maybe you can add a proximity check so the cookies don't all spawn near eachother.
Developer

Indeed. I noticed it also during the test that most of the cookies spawn near each other. I will put it on my list 🙂

Congratulations on that first jam! I love stealth games and this one was a good one!
I'm curious on the other mechanics you had in mind :D

Cute little game! Congratulations on your first entry! Stealth mechanics are always admired, and the limited view got me to pay attention really hard to my surroundings.

Good job!

An accurate experience of looking for midnight snacks in Grandma's home. It was fun to play, and worked well. Congrats on your first game!!

Ok this game makes me unreasonably stressed even if I knew that the out come of a failed run is just to wake up a cat. But otherwise it's a pretty nice game especially if this is your first ever game project. As others said, more levels or random generation would be cool. Good work.

Congrats on your first game! The art style is really cute, the character movement was smooth and the flashlight mechanic worked well (usually I dislike in the dark games but it worked well here). I liked the sound effect of the purring cat getting louder as you got closer. For a game jam first game with a one person team this is absolutely fantastic!

I like the idea! Controls are very smooth and precise! Nice game all around!

Very nice visual, for a first game, very nice.

The gameplay loop could be better, randomize the places of everything (cookies, rooms, cat, ...), give a motivation to get the cookies (maybe you are a kid and want to eat cookies before the adults wake up or you are a mouse that needs to fill stogare for the winter)

Real cool idea, fits the theme very well

Cool idea, but there is no pressure to get the cookies in time, especially since the cat location is set, so once you play it once, there is no game left. Just randomizing the cat location would fix this. Loved the purring of the cat tho, so relaxing 😊.

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed I wanted to add a random location and also somehow a timer as next step but got caught up in other issues which left no time for implementation.
But I plan to develop further on this little game in the future as it was fun during the game jam.

You said this is your first game, and because of it this game is amazing. You made a complete game, and that's thie spirit of game jam: MAKE GAME. So simple, so fast, so clear to understand, perfect. Never stop to do games, great idea!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback which gives me the necessary push to develop further on it in the future.
