I played Broken Souls in last jam, and now Strangeborne, I can see you're definitely a Souls enjoyer as me haha, I enjoyed the experience a lot, I think I didn't face problems cause I'm used to the Dark Souls gameplay, so it was smooth to learn how to play Strangeborne. I think you made a great job, specially knowing it's a solo project, congrats for this game!
Cool concept, but I must confess I couldn't figure out how to control the character properly, there's some places (specially a green part) in which I try to jump but I can't go, even though there's no visible walls. So I didn't understand well. It would be cool to be able to control the height of the jump. The concept is really cool, and the visuals and sounds fits the theme really well, so the game has potential if you work better the controls, nice entry
really fun game! The game is juicyyyy, and I love that! Every shot feels great to see, I just feel that the enemies could be better distributed in the map, I mean, sometimes I find many of them together, but sometimes I have to seek for them cause I don't see anyone. Anyway, the game is really fun to play, and the visuals and sounds are really cool too. Congrats for this game
Awesome game! I enjoyed a lot the experience, really creative the mechanics, and I played some games with typing mechanics, great game! This was my results:
Well I don't have any complains about it, everything worked fine to me, I liked the sounds, the visuals and mainly the mechanics, congrats for this game!
Hey, I'm here just to say that I appreciate very much you have commented and rated my game. I wanted to play yours too, but the game doesn't open cause it's complaining about Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x64). My PC already has this installed, so I don't know why isn't working. So, I'm sorry for not being able to retribute your kindness for playing my game...
One of the most well polished games I played til now during the jam, everything looks fine and cool to see and play. The texts have really cool effects, the visuals and sounds of the game are so atmospheric, great entry to the jam. It would be cool if the game grow up after the jam, to a longer experience. Congrats for your game
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback :D. Yeah I have commit some errors in the wind feedback. In my idea, the sound and snow effect should happen before the wind affect the player, so the player would have some time to react. But the way it is right now, when you see the snow effect and hear the sound, it's too late to react, you're already beinf affected by the wind, I'm sorry about that.
Really cool game, I can see the effort you put into it. I liked the grappling mechanics and all the visual of the game, also I liked the music (in the few times I heared it, cuz I don't know why sometimes it plays and sometimes not). The level design is cool and fits the theme really well. Actually I got stuck 2 times in the transition screen when entering a door, and I lost all my progress during this. I think this happened when I entered a door before the dialogue box of the npc disappeared. Really cool entry! Congrats
Bro, awesome puzzle game! The main mechanic is really nice and the level design is wonderful, I enjoyed a lot the experience. I played each level in both of worlds (ores and lava), the last level of each world are great challenges, It took me a long time to figure out how to pass those levels haha. Congrats for your game! Btw, if you start to rotate your character like crazy, pressing WASDWASDWSASDAWSADAWSD, for example, the character becomes smaller and smaller, until the character becomes a tiny line in the screen, a bug that doesn't changes the experience, once I just have to press R and the character is back to normal, but I thought you should know about that bug.
That was an amazing experience, the story is well writen, btw, I read the description about the game not having any tutorial, but I must say, is very clear the objective, so congrats for that, game design to the minigames are really good, I loved the visuals, souns and the story itself. Great entry to the jam, congrats! I must confess I thought I was loosing the last minigame haha
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback :D. I'm glad you liked the game even considering the problems it have. I'm sorry about the snow, the screen is a big mess with all the snow flakes and pixels from the background's dithering, I totally understand and I'll try to fix that in a future update. And yeah... I was afraid that the game doesn't show clearly how it fits the theme, since the theme in my game would be more visual than based on mechanics, but I unfortunately couldn't apply it in time. In a future update (to be honest I don't know exactly when it will be), I'm planning to improve the game with the treatment it deserves.
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback :D. I'm Sorry about The dizzying effect, It was not intentional, so I need to fix that in a future update. And you're right about The indication of The Wind, I made a bad Sync between The indication and The Wind itself, so when you see The snow changing direction and Speed, The Wind is already affecting you, It should affect you only after the snow effect, to give The player a reaction time. I'll try to improve that as well. Thanks again :D
Thank you so much for playing, I'm really happy you could enjoy my little game :D. Even though I had to simplify as much as I could, due to my bad time management during The Jam, maybe something good game out of It, I had to explore The only mechanic in The game in a way I would enjoy to play, so I tried to turn The Wind a Challenge, but also The solution to many other platforms through The game. Some parts can be pretty "rageable", I must confess lol. Thanks again
I love so much this visual style, as a fan of Silent Hill 1 and Resident Evil 1. So you made a great job in this kind of game, I did read your description, I totally understand what you said, it's really important to participate even if you think the game isn't complete, so you can learn more and interact with community, which is one of my favourite parts in the jams I participate, and people on Brackeys Discord are really nice, so I'm glad you delivered your game. I can see potential, since you made the visuals and sounds really cool, I liked how I could choose instruments and the music would react to my choices, I just wanted more time to read haha, 3 seconds is really fast, I didn't even know what was happening in the first 3 times the instruments screen appeared to me. And also, I understand your work with the camera movement, it is really smooth, but I recommend extra caution with that, the movement was letting me a little dizzy, but I completed the game without more problems. Congrats and continue joining in more jams, jams are really cool experiences!
I don't know if it was intended, but I could get almost all the upgrades in my first time seeing the skill tree. I didn't understand exactly what I had to do but I kept jumping and shooting everyone haha. The art is pretty, and the idea itself is really cool, the fit in the theme is incredibly well made, really strange things happening lol. In a future update it would be cool to have a more clear objective and progress, but you already have an interesting idea, it would be cool to see the game evolving into a more complete experience, congrats for your game!
Awesome game! The art is top-tier, I liked so much every character, the enemies have really cool designs, congrats for that. The stealth mechanics are well made, it works really fine and I liked specially the last level, it was a creative puzzle about the camera on/off. Well, I don't have any complains about it, really solid entry to the jam, congrats!
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! I think you're feeling this way because a mistake I made. I would like to do the game without UI, to be as clean as possible, so my way to indicate when the wind would strike was using the snow direction and speed, but there's a big problem with this: I forgot to give a time between the snow visual effect and the wind strike... That would totally change your reaction time. In summary: The right way: The snow change direction and increases speed, and then the wind blows.
Unfortunately, I didn't do in that way. The way the game is now: The wind blows, and then the snow change its direction and speed. So, when the indicator happens, you're already being affected by the wind, so you don't have proper time to react. I'm sorry about that, since it's a game that is entirely about this only mechanic, that's a critical problem, so, again, I'm sorry. Thank you so much for playing and your feedback even with that problem.
From the developer of Risk Factor in last jam, I couldn't be more satisfied with this game, incredibly fun! The combat is as polished as Risk Factor was, and the visuals are really cool, top tier pixel art work, and the story is really fun! Really cool experience to play this game until the end, congrats!
