How does the game fit the theme?
The player must risk his own self to photograph some monsters, in order to progress in the game.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some of the particle sprites; the bare bones basic template of the top-down movement; and the basic template of a trade system (the way that the player gets gold, not the main store)

Super cool concept and great implementation. Also looks beautiful and has nice sounds and music! Amazing work!

Great game, cozy and stealthy at the same time. It’s really well polished, and I loved the idea of buyers looking for specific types of photos each day. I’d love to see an expansion of the stealth aspect, like bars showing whether an enemy is chasing you or not (I had a moment where I ran from an animal and it still attacked me from a good distance while I was already photographing another one), and also ways to draw their attention for closer shots without compromising yourself. Congrats on the entry, the sounds were great too!

This game is super cute! It was super fun to play and I hope it wins.

Stunning graphics! Congratulations about the UI and the pixel art. Also, the format of the tutorial is superb. Fun concept!

Really loved the UI of this game, the visuals are very well done! I felt some difficulties playing with the camera.

A very fun little game with a fun concept! The camera idea is unique and really helps the gameplay as well.  One thing I experienced is that the game would lag everytime I got close to something you can interact with. The pixel art is very well drawn and cute and you have made a very impressive tutorial that communicates everything needed without being confusing or too long!

Developer

Thanks! (I believe the web version can lag a lot depending on where you are — but there's also a lot of spaghetti code, so this also helps :p)

Cute and nice pixel art!

Great concept, and the atmosphere is awesome. You are not joking when you say its really hard to take a photograph. The delay between shots and the aiming make for a great challenge. What'd happen if you ran out of films but don't have enough gold to buy new ones? Anyway, great work!

Developer(+1)

In that case, you would just need to suicide :p! Thanks for the feedback!

It's cozy. It's fun. And it's Risky! Nice work! Loved playing this game😍

Really nice game! The graphics are very pretty and the general atmosphere is super cozy. I really like the gameplay of hiding in the bushes and trying to get a shot of the monsters. I do kinda dislike how slow the camera moves when you're taking pictures. Maybe you did this for gameplay reasons, I can imagine it could be a bit easy if you could just run and take pictures super fast.. But anyway it was only a small annoyance, the game overall is lovely!

I'm having trouble using the camera. Both Space and LMB don't seem to do anything. Is there something I'm missing? (Playing on browser)

Developer

After pressing Q the camera button should work normally. Maybe its the lag of the web version?

You could try the pc version to see if the problem persists.

It's working on the downloadable version. Thanks!

Wow this is such a cute game and really impressive to produce in a week! Minor feedback, I found that the store and buyers only replenished when it became night, not in the morning and the cycle is quite long so when I found I couldn't find the right monsters I was waiting around a bit.  Also the camera only follows when its visible meaning I can pull out my camera to snap a monster and the reticle zooms from the other side of the map. Only small things. Such a cool idea though and really well executed!

This was super fun and calming game. I played it for quite a bit.

It's extremely polished in every way: the pixel art is beautiful and fits perfectly with the music and game mechanics. All very well done!

  • I feel like the camera speed is perfect. Slow enough to make it challenging, but fast enough to enjoy the process of lining up the shot while in the brush. It helps that the monsters movement is handled so well.
  • The moving monsters, changing day/night, and items swapping at the shop make the game feel fresh.
  • The yellow monsters can shoot like Curry and are assholes.
  • The green monsters are even bigger assholes.

Love the game!

If you get the chance, please feel free to check out our game and let us know your honest feedback. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree that the shooting monsters are quite the challenge haha, definitely took me a few times as a player to get the hang of dashing their attacks and then using the camera. I'll check your game out for sure!

The core idea of this project is really excellent! Using the camera as an "attack" against monsters is quite a fun concept, and the style of the game makes it overall a very cozy experience.

As I was playing it, I was thinking that it would be pretty cool if you could hit multiple enemies more easily in the camera crosshairs. That could give some incentive to kite enemies around and group them together to do higher skilled plays. That might require making the overall camera box smaller to balance it, though. Alternatively, maybe getting the monster in the center of the camera could be a critical hit to damage them more, whereas getting them in the box at all still damages them.

Generally, though, the presentation was great and the gameplay idea is really solid. Great work!

Really clever idea — that didn't even cross my mind!

Cool idea and realization!

Sometimes monsters appear out of nowhere and hit immediately :(

What a delightful little game. Great cozy art style, a day/night cycle that changes the vibes, chill music, and a mechanically satisfying progression system. A nice variety of monsters with different difficulties to capture. The intro tutorial was very well presented instead of just throwing a wall of text at you. Good design overall.

I didn’t realize enemies had “health” at first, that you had to photograph them multiple times, so I was confused why I couldn’t turn in my “photos”. Just a little bit more mechanics telegraphing/hand holding would’ve been beneficial, but very good entry overall. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate what you guys say!

Cute game with some good atmosphere. Wish there was a bit more depth to the core gameplay as I felt like I was hopping between grassy areas adjacent to foes. Perhaps some more stealth mechanics could be put into play or different strategies to take based on the monsters. (beyond their chase speeds/projectiles)

Really, really fun! The artstyle is amazing (reminds me a lot of Celeste), and the gameplay is really addictive! Great job! :)
