awesome concept except I couldn't see most of it due to the screen being zoomed in too much, you should probably keep in mind smaller screens next time. cant even access the tools or the buttons shown on the screenshots.

Developer

Thank you for playing… I have never experienced this issue with unity and we tried to fix it multiple times (in editor everything looks normal and so does it on most screens, but on some it still doesnt work…)

Gameplay loop is pretty good, art and music are nice. Though it's hard to tell when a plant has something wrong with it sometimes. The froggy monologues were cute, though it would have been nice to make it go faster. Game was fun.

Thank you very much much!

Really fun game, I love the art and animations and the dialogue is also cool :D I wish there was a way to skip the prologue dialogue for when you're replaying the game though.
Sometimes I wasn't sure if I'm doing things right or if I'm just running out of time, especially with the watering/scissors/bugs minigames as I was dying soon after introducing them.

Overall, very fun game, great job on this! :D

Thank you very much!

I loved the idea, but like others have said, it was really difficult to know what exactly was wrong with each plant. I feel like that’s the fault of the manual; it seemed to give inaccurate descriptions of what a wilted leaf, etc. looked like. I would also work on being able to skip the tutorial to allow for faster resets. The tools didn’t work for me, either. I still think this game has a lot of potential, and I liked the sound design.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing and the feedback!

Loved the idea, games like these are always underappreciated! In my case the game did not fit fully on my screen even in fullscreen, so next time do make sure to scale the game down to a more reasonable viewport. Also it is quite confusing to see the problems of the flowers sometimes? A game like this would work much better with a few more pixels.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing. We faced some weird unity issues causing the wrong vieport, we actually thought we fixed it… Anyways, you are definitely right, its kinda hard to see the details of the plant…

Really impressed with all the animations and art! UI interactions felt really polished as well. I liked the overall concept of the gameplay, but the 1-bit pixel art graphics is kind of working against you since it's pretty difficult to get the defects to really stand out in a way that the player can reasonably detect. Good work nonetheless!

Developer

Thank you very much for playing our game! Definitely the 1 bit challenge worked against us here and it takes some time to study in all the variants…

Loved the mini games and overall vibes here. I thought the art and animations were great, but I think the game would play a bit better if it was easier to see at a glance what was wrong with each plant--the defects were sometimes really difficult to detect because they weren't visually distinct enough to stand out on their own. The audio felt perfect and really rounded out the experience for me, too. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback, definitely the defects on the plants were our biggest flaw. Maybe after the jam ends I will make it more clear, especially the stems…

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the UI and usage of tween animation. Audio is suitably quirky for the situation of the game. Like someone else said, might be better not in 1-bit as it's hard to see what's going on.

Developer

Thank you very much!

interesting and pretty game, but is not for 1-bit I think. sometimes I don't understand, why this plant is OK/NOT OK. after some attemps I started using my intuition more than my eyes.

Developer

Thanks, yeah thats definitely the biggest issue with the game, one bit is for these kinda details just super hard

Well polished game! Among other parts, i very liked the "i" toolips which explain a player the defect (really helpful). Gameplay progression is good because of minigames which are added on second day. Also enjoyed how music intensifies closer to end of the shift.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much, as a fact, the i button was one of the last additions we made, but probably one of the most important…

Has a lot of charm and style and polished and well designed. Nice ideas and premise. I would like it more if it were a type of game I play much but still grabbed my attention (plus variety in the mini-games was good) enough to play longer than I though I would. Not sure if you could bypass some dialog on reruns though. It messes up pacing as I was anxious to try and get further. Also I can't believe how bad I was early on. Guess I don't know the difference :) Cool game with no real holes.

Developer

Thank you very much, yeah, some of the „bad“ items aren’t so clear as they should have been…

Really enjoyed this one! The sound design really added to the atmosphere. The minigames were fun to play and the main gameplay loop was satisfying, trying to get as much money as possible without any faults. Loved the frog character, always appreciate when there's a talking frog in a game. Really impressive game considering the time and visual constraints! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the many compliments. As a matter of facts, after I was done with my planed work on one of the jam days i just randomly painted a pixel art frog. Then we decided to make it our tutorial guy haha!

This game is awesome! The mechanics are really cool and the overall vibe is great throughout. I did run into a few bugs, like the clipboard blocking the scissors minigame, but it's still an amazing game considering how little time you had to make it.

Developer

thank you very ich, we appreciate it a lot!

One of only games I've actually seen with mobile, the only problem was that I was forced to use mobile because the game didn't scale correctly. The overall gameloop is quite fun, I think it could be improved by combing the sell and dump buttons into one button (there's no reason to select a fault and then sell anyway). The faults can be hard to see with the 2 bit which obviously isn't easy to improve. Also you have to go through all the text every time you play. Overall decent game.

Developer

Thanks for the review :)

Combining the buttons is a really good idea!

The game scaling seems to be dependent on the browser somehow, we couldn´t fix it, whatever we did. We really appreciate you trying it out on your phone even after the previous problems :D

Cool concept!

Thank you!

Really rockin premise, and lots of little effects really make this game stand out! I really appreciate the inclusion of the little "tips" on the side, although some cases were a little ambiguous still (are the small flowers withered? etc.) The minigames were a solid addition as well, I can tell you worked quite hard to get those just right.

I ran into a repeated issue where for some reason, despite doing the "correct" thing with the plant, I would be rewarded so little money that I end up losing the wave regardless. It was also a bit frustrating how the timings between the events were really sluggish, I felt like there was a lot of time pressure but I spent most of my time just waiting for animations to play out. A few tweaks to make the game "snappier" to reward faster decisions would be great.

Also, having to do a full reset (including tutorial) after a failure is a bit of a slog. But the game was fun enough that I powered through and did a few runs regardless. Impressive work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great review, we really appreciate it :D

The correct thing giving not so much money is probably because of the streak machanic. There you get a huge money bonus for doing the right thing with the plant AND doing every minigame possible for that plant. Sadly we had not enough time to make that more clear ingame.

Disabling the tutorial after seeing it the first time is a really good idea, we somehow didn´t think of that :o

Also, if you wanna play the game without the story, you can choose endless mode :)

Hope that helps you too, as your feedback helped us a lot!

Really awesome concept tbh, the art is great the music is fantastic if you did'nt had the 1bit restriction it would've been a perfect game still enjoyed it very much!!

Developer

Thank you very much for the compliments!

A great game, if it wasn’t 2-bit and had more visual feedback it would be even more fun, but you worked really well with the limitation. I had some trouble even after playing for a while, I wasn’t really sure why I got things right or wrong. Overall, good game with a great idea.

Submitted(+1)

The game is very cool designed! All these little things like effects when moving the mouse or animations in dialogues and so on

Developer

Thank you very much, we put a lot of time into the game to make the effects as good as possible!

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game… it’s sometimes a bit hard to tell what’s wrong with the plant :-) I loved the idea and the frog! well done!

Developer

Thank you very much, yeah its not too easy to easy sometimes, we should have made it a bit more clear!
