How does your game fit the theme?
I interpreted "Loop" as used in music-making software. You compose a little loop of music, then use the notes as platforms to reach the end of the level.

Your Average rank is #591 in GMTK 2025! Congrats!

Here is the link with all the rankings:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pcYEGvaHF3y30mMEWwywmkRd2FCpo-u3_ZFpPFSo...

I felt bad that there is no average score, because some teams aimed for all categories, not just one. So I just scrapped the results page and made a table. I agree with Mark that "Overall" is questionable, but I still think "Average" is a valuable score, so I decided to share it.

This is one of the most creative game in the whole jam. Not about the art as drawing but art as using the music as the floor/obstacle. I really enjoyed this game. If you could make better art for the player sprite and the terrain, that would be absolute cinema. I see that the later levels were trying to make a better beat. Well done, I hope you will continue to work on it further.

Developer

Thank you!! yeah changing the player sprite is definitely at the top of the list of changes I'd like to make hehehe.

Absolutely stellar work! Really really enjoyed how the game just flowed!

The most minor of nitpicks I have are: The first levels it felt almost too slow to get back to where I needed the track to be if I messed something up.

Putting one false note and having to redo everything did not always feel great. Maybe an undo last note would be nice without trivializing it completely?

Maybe there would be a better character sprite than something that either reminds me of a bullet or of a condom. 😅

Being able to walk on notes while they are being placed trivialized a few parts. Maybe they should just become solid after they are really placed and you can ensure that they are "legal"?

Oh and maybe another keylayout? maybe something like 1-4 and q-t. 1-8 felt a little stretched at times and I often missed the key I actually intended. You could maybe make the number keys treble clef and the letter keys bass?

The deafening effect while in the no music zone is super stunning I love all the care you put into it. Hearing a song you yourself wrote at the end of each track is really amazing!

thank you for that feedback!! im working on a small update that will include speedrun timers and a bunch of little gameplay tweaks that i hope will make the platforming feel better. i spent a lot of time getting the audio and note-platforms right as compared to the player and movement, so i needed to address a few things. the player sprite was a little white blob as a placeholder for the longest time and i just could not figure out what i wanted it to become, so i just made it a slightly more detailed white blob 😭😭.

if i do another update, i will probably make a totally new player sprite because i agree it kind of sticks out hahaha. i also would like to make the note-keys rebindable, or at least a toggle for a two-rows option similar to what you describe.

thanks again for playing and for writing up these thoughts!! i really appreciate it.

Really creative idea and was super fun to play. Love that when you get a decent platform spread at the end you get a pretty competent little melody to listen to at the end point. That feels like good level design to me! Had a good curve of challenge and didn't overstay its welcome.

My old feedback would be that sometimes the notes were a little too rigid to the beats and would end in places I wouldn't have expected them to be. Maybe have one more subdivision you can start a note on but have a minimum length?

As a suggestion I'd say you could do some interesting things if you can't draw whilst you're in the no sound zones (love the muting btw!)

Developer(+1)

thank you thank you!! totally agree there are some odd moments with the timing sometimes. i wanted the notes to stick to avoid making the "rhythm" part of the game too demanding - it should be more about the creativity of your platforming instead of your ability to nail an offbeat sixteenth note. ive been going through the game and making little adjustments to help with that and i want to make an update after the voting period is over.

thank you for playing and for the feedback though!

Cool game! The music can sometimes sound dissonant, although it’s cool that it seems you tried to avoid that using certain scales. Also the game would feel much better to play with coyote time.

Developer

the later levels i was definitely designing to try to encourage a cooler beat by the time you reach the flag - some of the levels where the platforms all sit around slots 3-5 sound a little ummm directionless when you're done haha. thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

That's quite a unique platformer! The controls were a bit confusing, but overall, very enjoyable.

Developer

hehehe i thought about trying to include support for a real MIDI keyboard but that was a bit beyond me considering the time limit, so keys 1-8 had to do. thank you for playing!

Adorable game with a cool idea and a good execution! Two years ago, I also made a game about platforming with music (and then listening to the awful songs created in the process) for GMTK, however unlike you my execution was terrible lol, glad to see someone make this properly!

Developer(+1)

out of curiousity i had to go and play Melodic Platforming. that is so adorable really - i love the idea of representing your "journey" through a game after the game is over, kind of like how Breath of the Wild shows the last 100 hours of your travel across the map. thank you for the kind words <33

I still think Melodic Platforming is pretty awful, but thanks for the kind words haha

I saw this on stream and immediately knew I had to play it. It’s hands down one of the coolest interpretations of the “Loop” theme I’ve seen.

The blend of music composition, platforming, and level-building is so smooth and satisfying. The whole thing just clicks, and it’s an absolute joy to play. Loved it!

Developer

Ahhh thank you so much!!

Great creative idea. My only suggestion would be to implement coyote time, as some of the tighter jumps become a little frustrating otherwise. But I would pay for a full polished version of this game, for sure.

Developer(+1)

coyote time is going to be the first thing i add in any platformer i ever make from now on. its so simple and makes such a big impact.

(also yes im gonna update this with some nice tweaks including that)

Submitted

Much simpler to do in Godot than in Unity, by the way.

creativity and game play is fun. nice job

Developer

thank you <33

This... was really cool please make more and add more mechanics :D

Developer

ok but just because you asked nicely!!

The game idea is interesting and well done. I like the artwork. Good job!

Developer

thanks so much!!

That's really groovy! A very original concept with a smooth and polished execution! I can clearly see this game as one of the potential winners - heck, I'd even buy this game on Steam as it is now!

I just have a thought: is the character supposed to represent a 'ghost note'? Or am I just overthinking it :D

Developer(+2)

😭you're too kind!

the character is 1000% my least favorite thing in the game right now. an even more plain version of it was a placeholder for a while and i procrastinated figuring out a real character for too long and had to just embrace the white blob. so... for now its just a white blob lmaooo

Submitted

I think it's cute!

Submitted(+1)

Super polished and enjoyable experience. Congrats on finishing!

Developer

thank you so much!!

Submitted(+1)

that is a VERY cool idea :D
as a former beatmaker, i would have loved less quantization with the platforms, but this is great - maybe even worth having a "creative mode" just to make songs?

Developer(+1)

ohhh thats a very good idea! it would be pretty straight forward to just make it a toggle. i figured generous quantization was pretty necessary for people who were less rhythmically-inclined haha. thank you for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

Yep, that's catchy! Gameplay is clean, music is good, 10/10 fun experience!
(Downside: Kept me from doing the things I should have done in the time..)

Developer

hehehe sorry about that! thank you for the kind words!

Mark played your game on stream and I had to try it after. Awesome idea and well executed, you do a good job of introducing new mechanics without confusing people (learning that notes can be placed over spikes for instance. Also, the mute background dulling the sound was a nice touch. The only nitpicks I can think of are that after completing the level, you should just let the stage music play instead of the other menu music. Also some coyote jumping would be nice but I am bad so maybe it was in there and I still managed to screw up lol.

I hope you update this after the jam!

Developer(+1)

ohh that's where everyone came from! aw thank you for the kind words. im literally in the middle of updating it right now, planning on some good little tweaks like coyote time and a little speedrun timer as soon as uploads are unlocked again!

Submitted(+1)

What a brilliant game! I also saw it on Mark's stream, and immediately wanted to try for myself! It's so interesting that everyone gets a different song for a solution. Great game, good job!

Developer(+1)

thank you!! yeah i noticed mark didnt realize you could hold the notes at first which makes some cool loops but some tough platforming hehehehe

Submitted(+2)

A-MAZ-ING!!!! One of my favorite games I played this jam so far. I am such a sucker for interactive audio and this takes it to the next level. I have nitpicks but for a game jam game to implement interactive audio this well, I just love it!! I want more!

Developer

thank you!! im working on at least one update for after the jam to clean up some little things that are bothering me!

Submitted(+1)

This is an incredible idea with incredible execution! You should turn that into a fully fledged game!!

Developer

Thank you so much!! I'm working on at least one small update for now to put up after the rating period ends!
