The basic idea is good, but I think the game could be made much more enjoyable with some changes.
But it is a nice idea, with some work, it can be a really good game. Good job!
Thank you for your great tips. I will try to rework the design.
I really liked the context of the war dance ! Also the graphs are really well made (are those 3d models with a filter ?)
You could probably improve the pace of the game. It starts to slow to keep the player involved. For example, I thought that you would accumulate the dancers to survive through more and more waves, maybe it could be an interesting direction to follow.
Good entry though !
This was an interesting interpretation of the theme. I think if he attacked faster it would be better... Or maybe if you could like... See where the enemies are gonna come from... Otherwise it's just luck.
I did notice that it was all pixel art! I love that. Just make the ground and the torches pixel art too. Also the number 5 in that font (or was it 2?) was kind'a hard to tell what it was.
But great game! And very polished for 4 days! Awesome!
Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!
It was a fun interpretation of the theme, and the art was simple, clear and well made. The gameplay could obviously do with some work, but overall I liked it! And good job adding a fullscreen mode hehehehehehe :>
Nice Idea , Nicely implemented but somereason but wasd key works instead of arrows
I like this interpretation of the theme! The narrative is nice, as well as the art.
But I did feel that I was doing much in term of control, and getting the timing right was mostly luck. The battles are happing too slowly in my opinion, so the game drags a bit, which removes some of the enjoyement.
It has great potential, I think it needs a little tweaking to make it really nice to play :)
Thanks for the feedback, I've seen that in general the comments always revolve around these two points: speed of play and randomness. I have some ideas on how to improve it.
I liked the idea, the art, and the upgrade system. But to be honest, I didn’t enjoy the gameplay itself. How am I supposed to plan for a battle that I don’t know? Getting the timings correct is very hard and chance-based. Every battle takes some time, and there is no way to fast-forward it. Watching the same battle happen repeatedly was not very enjoyable for me. But, as I said, I liked the graphics, the small story, and the upgrade system. All in all, good job.
I like your interpretation of the theme, "looping set of instructions." The art is great, and it somehow reminds me of Chants of Sennaar. Nice work.
Here are some points I noticed while playing the game:
In my opinion, the game would be much better if it were stage-based rather than endless. With a preview of the level before you set the instructions, you would have a better understanding of what you're doing and more control over the level flow. That would also make upgrades more valuable, since they could change the way you play.
Since you may die a lot, it would be better to have a button to speed up the game to make the grinding feel more fun.
Great work again. I'd love to see more of the game.
Thank you for the comment.
I agree with everything you wrote, the game needs to be faster and more structured.
Fun concept! Very cool and solid game!
Very cool name and branding!
The concept is really fun and fits the theme nicely. That said, I would’ve liked to have a bit more control over what I’m doing — for example, some hints about upcoming enemy waves could help with planning.
Still, it’s a very interesting idea with solid artwork. Great work!
First of all super slick artstyle (reminds me of A Short Hike which I love). Gameplay-wise it's very interesting, but it also feels a bit hard to strategize or anything given that you're out of control throughout the fight. Maybe showing what the pattern of attack would look like in advance could be interesting? Maybe the player could use ranged weapons (bow & arrow) instead of melee? Idk, but there's potential to make something very fun here. Great game!
Interesting and unique use of the looping instructions mechanic! Love the implied lore as well!
If possible, please consider rating my game, too.
An interesting concept and beautiful art style
I like the concept and the art is charming. However, personally I found it a bit too slow and not interactive enough. The battle scenes should in my mind be much faster, since you cannot do anything in that phase. And even if you know the pattern, that the enemies will arrive in, it seemed almost impossible to come up with a strategy, since the timing of enemy hit / player strike is hard to pin down. Still, very original concept and neat narrative framework.
Real fan of the art-style and really fun concept! Great cover art too!
I like the concept a lot! I think you'd get more milage out of it if you consider having the dance inputs be in real time & with more rhythm, the way it is now it kind of plays out like a very slow idle game to me. Congrats a good jam!
surprisingly addictive and it looks great! very nice!
If you don't mind, please consider rating my game as well :)
Thank you. I will for sure take a look.
played longer than I thought I would. Its a fun narrative and potentially fun game! I find games with a lot of idle time a bit tedious. maybe give the player the ability to switch around the patterns as the waves come?
I agree, maybe I can make it so that the loop activates manually. Or completely transform the gameplay and give the player the ability to move. I see many possibilities, I would definitely like to expand the available upgrades and add active skills.
I really like the look you created with this game. The shaders on the bats, player, and smoke were really nice. I didn't quite feel like I needed to put effort into which direction I attacked and when since the enemies seemed to be random. I think it might work better if you could see the enemy pattern ahead of time. Overall though, I spent quite a long time playing and really enjoyed it!
Liked it so much. Here's the point that you could implement/modify to upgrade it :
1: when the player lose (death animation + stop war dance animation)
2: with you font I dont understand fast that '5' was a five
3: implement a x2/x4 speed during fighting phase
4: create pixelized logo (like your current art : (health, gold, maybe upgrade too)
Art is so cool, concept is crazy, gameplay work very fine, and transition are simple but fire. It's my favorite game for the moment !! I hope you'll get a nice classement !!!
