Liked the gameplay - great work! Think it could profit a bit if you can't "remove tapes"... so that your need to plan more carefully what you add... so that you run more frequently into "stressing situtations".

Pretty simple but pretty fun! I liked the mechanics, I liked how you actually play the music from the tapes. I did think that the fact you don't really have any control over what comes out of the generator can make it get quite repetitive after a while, especially when you're just waiting to get the next tape of the corresponding type. Anyway, I did have fun playing, this is a great entry :)

Great concept!! The beats fit together really well! Very fun to play.

A few pieces of feedback:

  • I thought it was weird to lose a cassette tape when i droppede it :/
  • I don't have much choice right now; I usually just leave my 2 or 3 beats playing and change them when one breaks. Maybe I could choose from 3 new tapes each time? Or have an extra bonus (maybe with some drawbacks?)
  • I have no idea if it progresses faster when I'm playing a more "study" tape. If not, I think it would be cool if it did, with more challenges and choices. If it already does, I think it could be more noticeable.

great game, great lofi vibes!

Kinda want a free mode to mix and match tracks now~
Love how well the different beats meshed to make the tune, and it was fun trying to keep things balanced well enough. Nice work~

"Too study". LOL

Alternating between tension and drowsiness, well, "balance" might be a better way to describe this game.

Thanks for playing!

Audio 5/5 !

Nice cosy game, loved the idea. The beats were fantastic. My only negative feedback is that I dropped my first 3 tapes. I wouldn’t add gravity to this game especially if there is already way to recycle cassettes.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I wanted to limit the number of tapes a player could hold in reserve (using the three shelves to the right), so they wouldn't be able to stock up too far in advance. I probably should have included something about dropping the tapes in the tutorial though... thanks for the feedback!

I really should have checked the credits, i feel cheated finding out none of the music is original.  Such a missed opportunity to make something special because the idea and implementation is quite good.

Developer

Would if I could, but I'm definitely more of a programmer than a musician, unfortunately!

That's the compromise of working solo i suppose. I still think a game about making music should have a composer behind it but it's still impressive you did this on your own.

Really relaxing game, the main game mechanic is super engaging and the beats all go so well together, making it super satisfying!

Developer

Thank you!

Really chill and enjoyable game!

if i could give you some feedback, i would have like to see the "force" of the music on the tape, an more detailed explination of the balancing tapes, and maybe a way to decide what type of tape you need, because i had all music at one time and i panicked lol

But overall very great game!

I wanted to encourage more trial-and-error to help players try different combinations, but it definitely stinks when you get unlucky with several repeats in a row. Thanks for playing!

As someone who loves LoFi, this is great! If there wasn’t an end to the game this would have been the kind of thing that I could easily play for an hour without even noticing =)

Developer

Thank you! After the jam, I'm thinking of making a free-play mode that lets you just play music for fun.

Oh the music in this is well curated - there's a nice combination with pretty much everything.

Main feedback is when I tried to add a casette and one was already in there I didn't realise I would lose the cassette, would be nice if it popped back onto the shelf. Good work on it!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Love games on music :) Audio design is very well made

This was a lot of fun! Some great combinations there :)

Developer

Thanks! :)

Wow, great work!! I had real fun switching out musics and didnt even notice the progress till she passed with A+. The art style of the game was fitting to the theme. It unreal how you managed this in 4 days. Great job!!!!

Submitted

Creative and fun! I think it could use some balancing going forward, I lost because I was only getting one type of tape, but passed on the next attempt. It was a very creative take on looping and I enjoyed it!

Developer

Yeah, the RNG can definitely use a bit of tuning. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Very good concept, art could use some work, but other than that, great game!

Developer

I know, I'm certainly no artist lol. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Solid game! Only possible feedback I could give is consider putting some kind of chill/study icon on the tapes themselves, that way the player knows what kind of tape to look for. Glad I could help Emma pass her math test!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Emma, you haven't written a single line since we started, HOW are you passing!? Good game!
