I love hexagons and I love little guys and you happen to have both of those. This game was truly made for me!
However, I beat the last level by utilizing what I believe to be a bug. By hitting directional keys to hexagons that are not actually on the board (example: hitting the right arrow on the right-most hexagon on the board), your character stays in place!
I enjoyed the part where Walter White became Heisenberg. It was scary, but also serious.
It also felt like I was watching leaked footage from Avengers: Doomsday. The budget for the copyright must’ve been insane for this game, I’m sure! Which shows dedication from you guys, which is also very serious.
Very cute gameplay loop and great game over all.
This game made me feel like I had a job. Which would usually suck, but this was a fun job, so it’s okay. I like spinning the rotary phone…
I liked the little detail when I accidentally hit the pinwheels and they started spinning a little faster for a minute. I also liked how if you try to call one of the numbers early, it says the line is busy and I also liked the easter eggs with the special 3-digit numbers :P. Incredible attention to detail!
Very cute and SERIOUS game.
Yup! I was referring to the beginning of the game.
I’m pretty good at working with odds and despite playing in what I believed to be the most optimal way, I still lost because I got the wrong color 5 times in a row.
I’m sure I could’ve just decreased the price (I had it at 20) and stayed safe, but the point is that I did not feel like I was in control.
It was really hard to understand the details of the mechanics in the game, but thankfully that didn’t stop me from winning! Your game really made me feel like a boss in that regard!
Absolutely no other notes! I loved the 3D sprites and the silly ways you implemented the spinning wheel into different parts of your game!!
Great premise! But I feel like it’s missing something… As a player, I didn’t feel like I was in much control of what was happening in the game. I just kinda had to trust the process. Especially at the beginning! If the game had fun items or mechanics to influence the wheel or change the story in some way, I think this could’ve been sooo very epic!
Gambling is very serious. Good job!
Incredible game with incredible music and visuals! I enjoyed being a duck more than I thought I would. It is something that was certainly missing from my life. Thank you, friend.
However, the speed of the game is REALLY annoying and I feel like the tanky enemies should’ve been a little weaker, because the action got very repetitive on my wrist after a while and I was losing by the end of the level just because of wrist exhaustion.
There were supposed to be multiple mini-games; just didn’t have the time… So I understand how playing the same thing over and over got annoying for you. Although it’s important to note, the rules wouldn’t work without a forced mini-game on cycles where a yellow wasn’t rolled. Or at least it would make the game last much longer and the game’s long enough as it is.
Also, the loss of limbs do affect all contestants in the mini-game. Odds of them failing increase with each terror! That also applies to the player. If you get hit by a terror, the keys will fade faster! I’m sure there was a good way to visually hint at the others being affected, but time management’s hard, haha!
Thanks for giving my game another shot!
I see you struggled with the difficulty, but not much can be done about that. Personally my friends and I find Normal difficulty quite fun, while the Evil difficulty is intended to be insanely hard. As a matter of fact, I’ve never beaten the game on Evil Difficulty! The last mini-game is too much for even me, but that’s exactly why I added the ability to switch through the difficulties at any point! So that people of all skill levels can enjoy their time. I’ll still play around to see what I can do though! Maybe nerf the difficulty for the fourth time…
I do agree that the mini-game feels a little drawn out. From what I remember, the code I’ve written changes everything when you switch difficulties. Easier the difficulty is: Faster the progress bar, slower the watch and slower the red bar. I will probably tweak that to keep the mini-game speed constant; the criticism is appreciated.
And I do agree, the music gets quite annoying after a bit. That’s something I should definitely work to fix since that whole loop was written in under an hour anyway. I will work to fix these things in 1.0.3, as well as making the options clickable. 1.0.2 was hastily pushed out because the speed of the pocket-watch deterred a LOT of players engaging with the game from my experience.
Although, if you plan to make a “round 3” video, don’t bore yourself! I’d suggest waiting until 1.1 is out so that you can play some NEW content. I have cool stuff planned, this game is just not something I’m particularly focusing on right now. Maybe in about half a year. I can update you with a comment when it drops if you’d like!
Thanks for the support and feedback!
Thanks for your support! I love seeing people engage with my projects and I appreciate your compliments :D
This project was made for the GMTK game jam, which is why it’s not exactly the best. Non-clickable chat options, confusing ending, not the most in-depth lore and all that jazz. I only had 4 days to make a game after all. Even though, the game jam ended a looong time ago, I haven’t gone back to revisit this game at all, as I’ve been focused on other endeavors.
A LOT of people were complaining about the pocket-watch speed in the hypnosis mini-game, which was something I never quite understood since I beat all levels on my first try during the development process, but I guess this is exactly why beta-testing is important LOL. Your video’s made me realize why people were complaining! The pocket-watch updates to swing every frame… Instead of basing its movement on time passed, I’ve based it around FPS… I will be fixing this soon (probably on Monday). Although this is such a common and funny issue in game development that I might just make a short talking about this bug.
Again, thanks for your support and for sharing your experience! I’m over on YouTube and on Itch for the most part if you want to keep up with my future projects.
Much love and cheers!
