Neat idea having to try to do slower laps at the start. Nice to see music commisioned for the game too!
Yeah, vivi mouse does fantastic work! If you look, she put the OST for the game up for download for free! As the music half of the teammates we had for Sound stuff she knocked it out of the park - especially finishing so many songs from scratch for such a short project.
It looks like a complete game. If you add some content, menus, and a little polish, you could easily put it on Steam. Well done.
Wow this is like strategy meets racing! Had to fail a few times to learn the positioning of the items. Pretty cool concept!
I like the concept and how you have to use a bit of strategy and skill to win. I love the music and the graphic style is simple but effective. Good job!

Maybe introducing some alternate paths could be interesting; this way players could strategically choose different paths on each loop to avoid the ghosts.
Yeah, I definitely would've wanted to add some more alternate paths if we had more time. I found out on track 2 that branching and reconnecting the track was pretty time consuming, which can be problematic during a game jam 😆
Good suggestion though, if we had another chance to iterate it'd be good to be more intentional about where to allow alternate paths and where to funnel everything together.
Really nice game, the loop mechanic is really well considered and implemented. Great job on the drift mechanic, the color, sound, and initial burst of speed all gel together into a super smooth feature.
Additionally, Level 2 being being a big loop you can see above you at the top of your screen is a delightful touch.
Glad you enjoyed it, and I'm happy someone noticed the big visual gimmick of track 2! It was non trivial to set up, and perhaps came at the cost of straightening out the track a bit too much, but I think it makes for a neat spectacle 😆

So incredibly clever! Love having to balance fuel usage and the need to push myself so I can pick up fuel before my ghosts do! Oh, and this would've made for a great game to play with others, have you considered an MP mode?
The racing feels super nice and while I didn't really have my former selves interacting with me it was fun to interact with them >:)

This was a fun racing game. It took me way too long to complete the first track. It is nice that there are multiple tracks included too. Lots of content in this. Are the items useful on the first lap? It seems they are only useful for hurting the ghosts, which only appear after the first lap.
Well done! I had a lot of fun playing this. It is so well polished, one of the tracks I played didn't have too much opportunity to drift which made me sad because it is so fun haha. After playing mario kart my whole life, you tickled my brain when I was drifting and got that bonus similar to mario kart, I really did get genuine enjoyment from playing this for a while! Give my game a try if you'd like, also a hover car type racing game, but definitely not as polished as yours
Glad you had fun! That's a totally fair criticism regarding track 2. It used to be more curvy, but it underwent a lot of iteration to get the branching paths, ramps, and upside down loop working. Somewhere along the line it got a little bit too straight, haha. Lesson learned for next time, gotta let the player drift!
When I saw the ghost rider I was like "oh neat an AI opponent" and then on the third loop after it stole the powerup I was like HEY WAIT A MINUTE

This was awesome! Incredibly polished for a four-day project. I don’t think I even properly saw a lot of the detail put into the environment, given how fast-paced the gameplay is! The only snag I ran into was my car sometimes drifting in the opposite direction to what I wanted. That might have been down to the order I hit the keys in, though. I suspect the game probably feels a bit better on gamepad, so maybe I’ll try it with that at some point.
I was able to complete the first two races, but struggled with the third. I kept running out of fuel on the last lap. I was trying my best to avoid fuel pickups on earlier laps to leave them open, but the hitboxes are generous and the track is often thin… so, unfortunately, if there were more races after that one, I didn’t get to see them.
How was this only made in 4 days! This is extremely polished and wellmade! The controls feel nice, the graphics are great, and the audio is good aswell! Please keep working on this game!
