Very good. Absolutely love the visual style and your choice to take the theme and use it on a platformer. Nailed the execution.

Solid entry, it's interesting what can happen when you add an "unseen" twist to classic jump and run mechanics. And I would love to know how you made the organic die animation, got me every time.

Developer

I have a death scene with sprites for all the giblets. and I tried to make it dynamic with physics but gave up after an hour. so, I manually animated every bit with the animation player. ... it's the same animation every time!!  I swear ill figure out the physics thing at some point.

Really fun game that does something solid with the theme. I managed an A+ with 10 deaths, which sounds decent considering I fail at most platformers! The 2D lighting works really well and there's quite a lot of content to get through for a game jam.

Fun game!

Developer

thank you for playing

It felt cool to find out you can explode the mines with your projectile

Great job! Finding your way through the darkness with nothing but your light created a very tense atmosphere. I just had difficulty judging the jump distance of the character.

Nice work! The 2D lighting works really well here. The darkness adds a lot of claustrophobia to the levels, it's really effective

Really good. But, the controls could be better. If I aim with the mouse why don't I shoot with the mouse?

in hind sight this makes too much sense lol 😆

Super polished and very fun to play.

Super polished and felt really smooth in terms of mechanics. I think the range of the scanner could be a bit increased -- sometimes the scanner wouldn't pick the next platform I had to go, so, it was just a shot in the darkness (and a guaranteed death until I found where the platform was)

Awesome work!

Really good use of illumination - the ping, darkness, and sound effects really gave a sense of tension to the exploring. Sadly my lake of skill at platformers probably stopped me from seeing much of the end game - but I really liked the feel for what I did see. If I had one wish it would be that the echo lightening effect would emit out from the player over time (so that the brightness would start closer to the player and then move outwards away from the player... to help give a feeling of pushing away the darkness).

Loved the whole vibe!! concept was super cool, and the menu integration of theme & wildcards was such a nice touch! Audio was super sick as well!!

Cool concept! Also, the game had a surprisingly high amount of levels for such a short jam (and with secrets too!)
Nice job :)

My main gripe was that there was too long of a delay for the Scanner to take effect. Not the cooldown, but the time between pressing E and the sight radius actually increasing. (Rather than pressing E and then being able go forward, it was press E -> wait 1-2 seconds -> go). But that's a very easy fix!

I really enjoyed playing this and felt very motivated to make it to the end. I thought there was a great amount of polish. A jam game with simple controls and a solid idea, but with some careful polish, go down really well for me! The pulse grenades and the death animations were my personal favourites. I hope you decide to expand the game because I'd love to see it!

I think it fits the theme and for a second game ever I thought it was great execution although I did think that pressing a keyboard key and then aiming with a mouse felt a bit disjointed

tbh I'm not great at platformers and even less when I can't see the platforms so I didn't get to the exit in time 😂

I liked the moving about in the dark, forcing you to think about what's ahead.

Some different control options would be great, but other than that, great job!

The animation when the character died was great! I would've preferred to aim and shoot the bombs using only the mouse, but overall the controls were really smooth.

Seems like you went for a simple concept and took your time to add content and polish. If that's true, it paid off! Some parts were a bit annoying but not frustrating, and it was rewarding to finish the game! The hardest part (but also my favorite) was the area with around 5 floating platforms and spikes everywhere below. It really felt like a leap of faith, and the atmosphere did make me feel like I was going insane... I think that was intentional, so good job ^^

Nice, tight controls. Good use of sound

Great game! Took me 4 tries to finally beat it! I was hoping the secrets would give you some sort of reward, such as making your abilities slightly stronger or something.
