cool completed game! interesting theme interpretation, so cool book page turning and game mechanics❤️, good instruction, but even so I still couldn't understand: its color(that need to combine from book formulas) - its numbers have attached to special colors, like first number is always yellow, second is always black, or something... or its more like tips how many do you have to use some of the colors(sry if it was explained in the game and I miss that and ask stupid questions😖)
in general really good job😃👍 especially like the musics.🎵
forgot to add - find some bug:

when put color to the plate it scale up, so if mouse cursor didn't go beyond the plate - it is possibility to put same color to the others cells of the plate, that will again scale up the plate
and it can be done for infinity)))) as much as will be visible cells for doing relocation thing
Thank you for taking the time to play my game, and for pointing out this bug. Will definitely include it in my next update.
Really cool concept. One thing I thing I think could be improved is visuals/UI. I feel all the different platforms look too similar right now, and you can only tell them apart based on the buttons next to them. One idea I had about the ratios since people are having trouble with them is maybe have some flavor that the previous alchemist wasn't good at notetaking and the order of the ratios might not be correct. Overall though it's a quite enjoyable game.
Neat game! I like the concept a lot, the setup and the music make it feel very cozy. My suggestion: get rid of the money idea. I think this would be a bit better if players could experiment freely and didn't have to be so deliberate in their choices (right now you get like 3 chances to win the first round, which is extremely difficult). Fully lean into the cozy vibe. Overall, awesome job!
Great suggestion, the only reason I added the gold was to create an end goal and a bit of a challenge for the player. Perhaps I can something like a playground where you can play around as much as you like, or increase your starting gold to give players more chances at the start. I think for now I’ll go with the increasing of the gold, which should be easier to implement first.
Thank you very much for playing my game.
This was a very chill experience with the music. Cool idea and great use of the theme. I liked the whole vibe of it and was fun -great job!
Thanks for playing my game.
Update:
Thanks to: @Teitoku Lowliet, @stressed game dev, @StarBee, @Hikamii, @GrumpyPoo, @Evan Martin, @ztier
for pointing out one of the greatest flaws in my game. I’ve added a tutorial (Something basic) which will hopefully lower the games barrier to entry.
Thank you for playing.
Really liked the concept! But I feel like the instructions could've been explained or elaborated more, I only figured it out by reading your reply to a previous comment. Other than that I really liked the vibe and mechanics of the game.
Really great game and looking forward to more!
Thanks for bringing this up. I’ve made some changes to add a tutorial. I’m glad you liked the game, and appreciate you taking the time.
I'm pretty sure I played another game in this jam that's about transmuting and mixing colors, though this one is using CMYK values instead of HSV. I like the idea of mixing colors on your alchemy workbench, but the numbers on the handbook is misleading and I don’t see a correlation of the number of a certain color I use and the numbers in the book. It's reliant on too much trial and error and can get frustrating if you don’t know which direction to go in. Do I add more blue or reduce the amount of pink?
Still, I dig the concept. Just need to give a bit more information in the UI.
Thanks for taking the time to play and recommend some changes. I’ve made some changes to add a tutorial, hopefully this addresses some of the issues you’ve pointed out.
I liked the idea, but It was hard to understand at first.
When I understand how everything works, I think the "compendium of colors" was either wrong or hard to read. I was mixing the colors in order as described and I get different colors than expected
I really enjoyed the concept and I think the idea is cool, but maybe with some polish explaining everything would be much better
I love how simple and straight to the point your game is. The narrative you gave it is also fun.
I had to go through the info a few times because the icons weren't intuitive but once I got the hang of it everything fell into place. I was also a bit lost trying to figure out what the goal was, like what color I had to match the mixture into, because I didn't notice the plate on the left side.
The animation for the formula book was satisfying and a nice touch to help mix the colors but I was convinced that the order of the ratios in it was the same as the colors.
I can see your game being used to teach color mixing in a fun way. Amazing job and keep it up!
I’m really sorry you had a rough start with the game, but I truly appreciate you sticking with it—and I’m glad to hear it eventually clicked for you. I’ve taken your feedback to heart and added a tutorial to help ease new players into the experience. Thank you so much for taking the time to rate and review the game. It means a lot, and I’m really glad you enjoyed it in the end.
Your game is surprisingly simple yet original, and I can see the potential of it. But I got some issues that I want to point out too. Firstly, if I understand the game right, you must mix the colour dots based on the formular in the book, if it's dark red, then I must add 4 cyan, 1 magenta, 4 yellow, and 2 black dots, am I right? If so, it seems like the mixed colour doesn't follow the formular in the book, it's very occasional to achieve the correct colour, but if I understand it wrong, feel free to correct me. And lastly, which is more minor, is that the platform can be picked up in between the mixing animation process, which will break the game. Anyways, wish u best luck, both on this game and upcoming games too!
Thanks for playing the game and for your feedback!
Just to clarify, the ‘Formulae’ in the book aren’t meant to follow CMYK order directly. Instead, they’re a set of ratios—like 3:4:2:2—that represent the relative amounts of each colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) used to create a specific mix. However, the order of the values is randomized. For example, 3:4:2:2 could mean 3 parts Black, 4 parts Cyan, 2 parts Magenta, and 2 parts Yellow—or some other combination.
The idea is to look at the colour and use the given ratio to deduce how much of each CMYK component is likely present. I know it’s a bit abstract, and I admit the in-game info screen might not do the best job explaining it 😅—so thanks again for taking the time to explore it!
I see. Well, it would have been nice if it's tutorialized for the players to grab on it, but it's a 3 day jam after all ;)) I'll definitely retry!
Absolutely, A tutorial is required if this game has any hope of being picked up by anyone. That’s why really I appreciate you guys taking the time to read the wall of text.
That was very relaxing, I had enjoyed that
Thanks for playing my game.
I kinda confused on how to play the game tbh
Yeah, it’s kind of vague in it’s approach, totally understandable. Thanks for looking into my game.
If you still would like to give a try, here’s a quick rundown of the loop:
If the colours match you get some gold, if not, you can drag your dish to the discard slot and repeat.
Any tips on how I could make it more easy to understand?
How to open the book?? I can't click it
nvm, found it
I really liked the concept and the music is very relaxing, very nice game.
Thank you for taking the time to play my game.
Most enjoyable game I've played thus far! Really well done! I had some trouble with the large bulk of text in the info tab, but after gathering some focus and reading it, I mixed my first color concoction! The ratios on the book were quite confusing at first though. I got the amount right but when I mixed it, the color was absurdly different. Other than that, the game is really, really fun. 9/10 from me; the interactive book is a cherry on top.
Thanks. I was worried the wall of text would be an issue as I didn’t have enough time to make a proper tutorial for the game. I’m glad you took the time.
FYI, the ratios are not recipes just clues to what the colour mixtures would be, in no particular order, part of the mechanic. Any tips on how I could convey that better for next time?
Oh, I thought they were recipes. How were they clues though? Like what do the numbers mean?
That you will need that specific number of colour dots for a specific of that colour. For example say you have a ratio 3:1:2:1, means one colour will have 3 dots, two will have 1 dot, and the last will have 2 dots. It doesn’t tell you exactly which of those colours it will be. That’s why I’m not calling it a recipe but rather a clue.
I see. The clues as they are right now is a bit misleading; I thought you had to exactly line them up. Do you have any ideas for that?
Good Point, maybe if I do a polishing pass in the future, I will have to improve how this is explained or displayed. My concern with lining it up is that it would make the puzzling aspect way too easy.
That is fair. Well, maybe you could just add a small note in the book that states the ratios aren't accurate 1:1? As a placeholder for now, anyway.
Wait… We can modify the game after it has been submitted?
Oh, I somehow missed it on the rules. Let me make an improved version of this for other players as well. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
As long as you keep the original submission as a downloadable, that is fine from what I've read on the rules. Go for it!
The theme and limitation were quite challenging to work with, but I really enjoyed developing this game. I ran into some trouble early on when I lost power for over two days, so I’m just glad I managed to submit something with the limited time I had left. Any feedback is appreciated, and I hope you enjoy playing it. Thank you!
