How does your game fit the theme?
Before the actual gameplay starts and the robots come at you, and in between waves of robots, the player has a calm period in which they can get a breather from the frantic robot shooting. Also, the theme is advertised on the ingame billboard ;)

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Besides the protagonist’s and the robot's model and animations and the music and sfx, i created everything myself, including models, shaders, animations, lightmapping, ui, code and logic.

I pulled out my trusty Xbox 360 Controller and connected it, but it wasn’t recognized by the game. :(

I watched the gameplay video link you gave me though. Enemies falling from the sky rather than spawning right in your view was well done. And the fake blood like red cubic particles looked real nice, super ingenious.

oh that’s not good… i’ll try to get my hands on an xbox 360 controller and make it work in the next version of this game. And thank you for your kind words, i am glad you liked what you saw :)

Very nicely made game!

The only thing I would change is possibly add is some sort of health so you don't instantly die.

Developer (1 edit)

thank you :) i plan on adding a shield and making it so that you don’t have to start all over again when you die, but rather let the player start from the wave they were in.

The game looks great the feedback I can give is

- Enemy Attacks: I mean you kind of die by proximity which is kind of annoying.

- Lack of an unique mechanic: literaly what it says on the tin, it's just an arena twin stick shooter, it doesn't really do anything elese

- Weapon Varitation: I mean kind of lacking with the player having access only to it, something like limited ammo and weapon drops could have been fun to create kind of a gungame feel.

Not much else it's a good game if you just want a twin stick shooter

thank you :) we all only had a week to create our games (and the first three days i could not do anything because i had covid) so i made the best i could. You are right that in many ways it lacks features that could have made it even better, but the limited time period said otherwise. I do plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends and luckily for me i have a bunch of valuable feedback i can work with, so thank you for your contribution :)

I think the artistic section is very good and polished, and the gameplay is fun. But perhaps it lacked a little variety in enemies and weapons. Still, it is an idea that can be further developed,
Very good work! :D

Developer(+1)

thank you :) yes i plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends, adding more and larger maps, more enemies, more guns and explosive stuff, …

I don't think I've ever played a twin stick shooter before, but I really liked this! I did get stuck behind a car on the left side though. :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you, yes some parts of the map need improvement but that’ll be for the next version after the jam/rating ends :) i am so glad you discovered a new genre of games and that you liked it!

The game design is excellent, but it would be even better with more weapons and enemies added.

thank you :) i plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends, adding more and larger maps, more guns and explosions, more enemies, it’s going to be a blast :)

I think I am gonna have to buy a controller to play the game... Looks great and gonna play it once I get one. Cant make any promises that I will play before the jam ends :(

Kudos!!

Developer(+1)

you wont be disappointed :) i plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends so it’ll be here when you return with your controller, also after the jam :)

Fantastic game! Loved the visuals and engaging gameplay loop. The intense final levels were a blast, and the map was interesting with a nice touch of story. Great job, and thanks for the experience!

This is so much fun! Played a load of rounds. I love how it feels to play, - would love to see a full version of this with a load of guns/ story etc.. maybe with multiplayer co-op modes even, everything is so polished. Fantastic job!

Developer

wow thank you :) so happy you enjoyed it! i plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends, adding more and bigger maps, more guns and explosive stuff… would love to add co-op gameplay!

A really polished and enjoyable game. .  Adding more gun options and enhancing the recoil and screen shake would boost the impact of the combat. I'm looking forward to seeing how the game evolves post-jam! Keep up the awesome work.

Developer

thank you :)

Couldn't play without a controller, but I may get one soon! Rated based of the  comments and screen shots :)

Edit just saw the video gameplay and can definitely see the appeal! I am sure you have thought of adding more guns, so maybe some screen shake/ recoil / movement speed reduction while firing to make the gun feel more impactful could be added.

Developer

thank you :) i do hope you get that controller as the gameplay experience is far better than the gameplay video :D I do plan on further development of this game once the jam/rating ends, adding more and larger maps, more guns, more explosive stuff… i am so lucky to have gotten so much valuable feedback to work with!

This is a very fun experience. The animations and controls are very smooth and satisfying. Well done on the music and sound fx as well! Overall, this is a very well rounded game. Great work!

Developer

super polished game! the gun feels great to shoot, and the particle systems add a lot to the game feel. However, i do feel like the game didn't take advantage of the theme that much. Sure, there's the "storm" part with you shooting the enemies, but I don't think the "calm" was that emphasized. But I still had a lot of fun with  this, and the art looks great!

Developer(+1)

thank you :) in the first part of the game, before you get the gun, there is a calm part where you can explore the map, and in between each wave there is a calm part, and lastly, the theme is advertised on the ingame billboard ;) if i had more time i could’ve implemented more maps with maybe a shop or something but hey, that’ll be for the next version :)

This has to be one of the most polished game in the jam i had so much fun playing it Keep It Up!!!

thank you for your kind words! :)
