Nice immersion and idea. Loved to see another entry with voice-over though in some cases the volume of dialogue should be louder

Love the graphics of that game! I don’t know if it’s intended but the shipwreck has no collision. Great work though!

Good story, good immersion.

Some criticism:

  • Some cutscenes (ship moving over jazz music, staring at gas, etc.) should be skippable, especially since nothing interesting happens in that scene
  • There should be more clarity when your player character is taken over for a cutscene.
Developer

Thanks for playing! I figured for such a short game that is largely based around story and setting, that skipping the cut scenes could leave people a bit confused as to what was going on, but appreciate your point. I could maybe have cinematic black bars appear bottom and top of the screen to indicate a cut scene or something. Thanks again,!

Strangely immersive. Unfortunate that you couldn't have real VAs for this, but it is what it is

Not sure if intentional but it seemed the end scene still triggered prematurely despite me never pressing M. It would loop the word game twice and then end in the middle of the second game.

The boat actually feels nice, I wish the game was more central to the boat rather than the word game

Cool submission

Developer

Strange that the word game looped :( I'll have to look at that after the jam. Thanks for letting me know.  Thanks for playing!

Very Cool!

Pretty neat game. Wished there was more with the boat controls :/

Hope you'll also try mine :) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2973690

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Boat controls were more complex but they became buggy near the end, so simplified them significantly. Will have a look at your game this evening. Cheers!

This game felt kinda deep... The voice acting was good was invested in what was going on screen, what they were talking about, felt the tension in the player. Really well designed.

I think the first meteor sound effect was also voiced by you. Felt funny:D

Kudos!! You made a great story. :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it :) Will check your game tonight

Developer

Also realised you found the 'M' bug :( put a note about it after the deadline was over as didn't find it before

Like the start of a movie. Great performance. Nicely atmospheric (though the rain falls up). Probably the kindest coast guard. I can't help but thinking that Jon is going do die. It's a bummer, but a it's an engaging bummer.

Developer(+1)

Haha the rain falling up when you look upwards I only noticed near the end, I put it on the 'that will have to do' pile! Was indeed supposed to be kind of dark and unsettling, but in a 'calm' way.. glad you found it engaging and thanks for playing! Will check out your game later today

Feels like I just watched a short film. Cool atmosphere in the game and good voice acting!
It showed the end screen before I finished the mini-game with the lady on the phone (I was not the brightest player XD). But it was still showing the input field on top of the end screen, so I was able to finish the game anyway.

Submitted

I just read the description. I probably put the letter "M" into the input field.. Should've read the description first

Developer(+1)

Ah yeah, discovered that bug after the deadline :( Will remove after the jam. Thanks for playing! Will check out your game later. Cheers!

Very nice story telling!

Developer

Thanks! Will have a look at your game later this evening

very nicely done, i like the voice acting! Maybe the boat turns a bit quick but it was alright in the end, really cool game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I will look into the boat rotation, thanks again! Will check out your game later

Developer

Realised I played and rated your game yesterday! Was a winner  :) Cheers!

It's funny, I already got a kick out of just riding a boat before the girl suggested I just enjoy the view.

Reminded me of The Stanley Parable in spirit.

Very high-quality voice acting, hats off!

Developer

I'll take the Stanley Parable comparison :) Thanks for playing!

Nice atmosphere.  Really loved the initial scene on the boat with the meteor, very beautiful.

Developer

Thanks!

Intriguing experience. The twist at the end honestly hit kind of hard, put the lady on the other end of the phone's weird lack of urgency into perspective. Music was great aswell

Developer

Thanks and thanks for playing!

Interesting experience, the end screen did appear before the game was over, played the most of the word game during the end screen, which also means I got spoiled, didn't notice it though. Neat little experience, not much else I can say.

Developer

ah sorry to hear you found a bug :( this one is new to me, do you mind telling me where it happened exactly, did the end scene just trigger half way through the last conversation? Was it WebGL or stand alone? It’s obviously just supposed to trigger once you complete the game, would like to fix after the jam. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

I was just driving towards the sun, in the middle of the last conversation and just as I was trying letters for the first word, the end screen popped up. It was on the WebGL version. Didn't break the experience completely though, I was still able to play it through. Congrats on the submission!

Developer

Ah ok, thanks for getting back to me! It seems I may have left a testing input trigger on for the one of the keys :( will fix after the jam. Thanks again! Will check out your game some time this week.

Developer

Found i! I left 'M' accidentally on as the debug key to test that scene :( Will add a warning in the description, thanks for helping me out!

Submitted

No problem!

Surreal experience, and atmosphere :D

Developer(+1)

Yeah that was what I was going for :) Thanks for playing!
