Pretty challenging for a game with only one rule! I voted for your game :)

minesweeper sweep

Hobson accidentally uploaded a debug-enabled version of JGAJ (the backslash key is a debug-only feature), which is why that happens

Update your game, John Hobson 😭

i don't recall talking about downloading anything in my original comment

Ngl I miss the dot eyes on the skeletons

These designs are a major improvement otherwise! And we get unique designs for each level :O

that's not funny

I'd also speed up the menu transition. Yes, I know I selected "Play". Menu transitions should take half a second at most

What are the controls? Having a hard time navigating the menu

Nvm I figured it out. Arrow keys + Enter is a very awkward combination (they're both on the right-hand side), so I suggest changing the default select keybind to something on the left-side of the keyboard

Another bug I found: the downloadable version of JGAJ crashes on startup.

https://imgur.com/a/6KwXgrE (Had to upload on Imgur b/c itch wouldn't let me post it here)
"NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource." plus a bunch of errors in the browser console

The browser version has debug mode enabled by default.

It's fun to use the cheat walk to moonwalk across the map, but i don't think this was intentional

wtf i didn't know the al pigeone lore went this deep

Thank you for playing! Unfortunately, I don't plan on updating this game further because I want to focus on my original work (check out my itch page for more games if you haven't already)

Thanks for playing!

Also if you're experiencing lag, try downloading the Windows build

Mindbending puzzles stemming from such a ridiculous concept. Wish I saw this during the rating period cuz I would've given full marks instantly lmao

what

lmao

Excellent sound design!

I was gonna add more detail to the background (specifically windows to the foreground building) but I forgot 😭

Thanks for playing!

Really interesting concept with a great artstyle to boot, but I have a few criticisms:

  • Some mechanics are not explained to the player (e.g. certain blocks disappearing)
  • No reset button

It's an okay game. You have a good idea, but Iwish the goal of the game was explained in the game itself (not just the itch.io page) and it was really infuriating how the simulations weren't consistent (e.g. the fan wouldn't blow the ball towards a consistent direction between simulations)

Very fun! I love the variety of minigames you have to play and the fact that they accurately sum up the game jam experience lol

I liked the art and the music.

Main criticisms:

  • You're thrown right into the gameplay loop without a tutorial; this left me very confused
  • Choppy framerate (although the game was still playable)

I like the Beyblade vibes and the low-poly art style. It was pretty fun, though I wish there was a way to adjust the camera to see enemies behind you.

Pretty neat word game!

My main criticism is that dragging and dropping can get kinda tedious after a while; there should've been a system where if you simply click a tile it pops into the first open space

Cool idea with working randomly generated terrain. Physics was a bit jank, but the game was still fun nonetheless.

Agreed. In retrospect I probably should have toned down the swearing (even though it was censored) as that’s one of the main reasons why I didn’t find AVGN (the guy I parodied for the Furious Nerd) funny in the first place. Would’ve made the AVGN parody less accurate but also would’ve made the game funnier (especially for people not familiar with AVGN).

Thanks for playing :)

Very interesting take on the word game genre. I liked the simple graphics.

Didn't experience audio issues on my part (OS is Windows 10 and browser is Firefox if you're curious)

Yeah I agree with you about the humor. Maybe I was too old by the time I watched an episode of AVGN (the guy I parodied for the Furious Nerd) but besides a couple chuckles I didn't really find AVGN funny.

I tried to mitigate this by throwing in other jokes that didn't involve his swearing but most of those jokes were towards the end of the game so yeah not a really great first impression :/

Glad you enjoyed other aspects of the game, though! Thanks for playing!

Next time you make a game, please bundle the .exe and .pck into a zip file.
This game has potential, but it has many issues:

  • UI looks unpolished
  • Unfitting stock music used as the main music
  • I cannot progress past level 1 as nothing happens when I press "play".

You have a really clever take on the theme and a good artstyle, but the game's far too easy; I just spammed shots and moved down the enemy horde.

So much polish!!! I love the funky music, the pixel art, and the game's various gimmicks, such as:

  • Everything going in a loop (reminds me of arcade games like Pac-Man that would have something loop around the screen)
  • Having to dodge enemy debris (you don't see that often in space shooters)

Very addicting game loop. Love the deep-voiced narrator that commented on your actions.

Only major criticism I have is the lag. The framerate is choppy (even though I have a pretty beefy PC), though the game is still playable.

This criticism is mostly nitpicking, but the slimeball's pixels aren't the same size as the pixels in the rest of the art.

I liked the turn-based gameplay

Chaotic and energetic gameplay to go with the funky music! Pretty fun :)

Resetting everything when you die would be annoying (especially if you die in the late game) and you can hold R to reset anyway.

from the moment i saw that ms paint thumbnail, i knew what i was getting into

what

if you posted this onto newgrounds it'd probably do numbers there

Controls were very slippery. You've got a good idea, but I couldn't get a handle on the player

You've got a great idea there, but the fact that you can put in any character makes the game far too easy. Imo the game would benefit from having to pick from a limited selection of letters (similar to what Scrabble and Word Play do).

Very unique take on the theme! I like the fusion between rhythm game and platformer. It was really challenging, but that's a skill issue on my part lol

The error also jumpscared me

This game reminds me of Flow :) And then I read the description and woah you knew lol

I especially dig the puzzles and the simple style (both graphics and audio).
