Been busy lately, two updates have landed for Iron Sea recently:

  • Iron Sea - Update — a polish pass on ship placement (no more drifting or clipping at the grid edges), a difficulty indicator during matches, an expanded end-screen summary, and a rebalanced special weapons economy (smaller starting stock, better drop odds).
  • Clearer ship colors & a fairer Spearhead — locked ship colors now clearly show which level unlocks them, and the "Spearhead" mission no longer requires a win to register.

Full details in each devlog linked above. Thanks for playing, and keep the feedback coming!

Thanks for the extra detail, that actually clears things up!

"Phantom Black" is a much later unlock than the one you're currently working toward (it's tied to Level 5, not Level 3, there are a couple of Levels in between). The “Ship Colors” panel shows the names and hints for all the color sets, including the ones way down the road, so it's an easy mix-up to make, you're not doing anything wrong, the goal you're picturing just isn't the one that's actually "next" for you yet.

The reward you're working toward right now (to open up Level 3) is a different skin, "Storm Front”, and your Level 2 missions are the ones that lead to it.

Also, on "Outlast a Nuke”, your read on it is spot on: it means winning a Hard battle in a game where the enemy fired a Nuke at you at some point during that match.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain, this kind of feedback is exactly what helps me figure out where the game could be clearer. I'm going to look at making the “Ship Colors” panel show more plainly which Level unlocks each set of colors, so this mix-up is easier to avoid going forward.

As for the weapon stockpiling vs. conserving ships, that's a really interesting point, and you're right that there's some tension there. I'll keep chewing on it!

Also, some missions require you to win x amount of battles in a certain difficulty, if you are not playing in (one of) the required difficult(y)(ies) then the mission will not complete.

These are the missions for Level 3:

Thank you so much for playing! Too bad you encountered a bug, i have done so many testing but never had the bugs you mentioned. Is it possible that you are mistaken? (or maybe i misunderstood the issue) Because actually there is no mission in Level 3 where you have to win 5 battles (there are 2 missions where you have to win 5 battles, "Seasoned Commander” in Level 2 and “Hardened” in Level 5), There is the mission “Rising Tide” in Level 3, but you only have to win 3 battles. Also, if you unlock a ship color it will not be applied instantly, you have to select it in the main menu, under “Ship Colors” :)

Thank you for playing my game, really means a lot that you like it!

Never played a text based game before, but this was very nice!

Thank you so much for playing and your kind words, yeah i might have to look at those ammo counts lol but very satisfying to use :)

Your amazing asset was used in my latest game, Iron Sea, thank you for this! Will be coming back for more :)

Thanks, so happy you like it :)

I am glad you had a great experience with your first game jam, for me it is my second and i can’t say why i waited so long to join another one cuz it’s been great for me too. I got to finish a game, got awesome feedback from so many people and can't wait to join the next game jam :) Good luck to you too and see you in the next one!

i haven’t played your game, i’m on Mac. and requested a WebGL version cuz your game looks awesome and really nice to play. If you can please play (and maybe rate) my game here it is: https://team2studio.itch.io/witchs-brew

Very nice game, it looks good, and plays really smoothly. I feel like having worked a shift in that warehouse only to get jumpscared at the end :D Great job!

Awesome, thank you for playing!

Thank you very much for playing!

Very nice game, i have an azerty keyboard so it was a bit more difficult for me but gameplay is nice, sound effects are cool and the story at the end was funny, overall good job!

Very nice game, needed some time to adjust to the camera but then i saw you could play with a gamepad which is always my preferred  choice for input and everything was ok :) Like other people have said before, it would have been even better with some sound and music, but overall a good job!

I liked it, the camera could use some love but the gameplay on itself is good! Maybe it could use the right stick on a gamepad to specify a direction for the arrow instead of the direction the player is facing, but i managed anyway :) Good job!

How is this not rated more? I had a very great time playing your game, the audio, the visuals and the atmosphere when wearing the mask is very well done! Nice jump scare when you pick up the key, luckily i found my way back to the door and escaped :) Very good job! Edit: i played on the webgl version and everything was just fine for me!

For a first 3d project this is very well done :) I knew something was about to happen, so i was closing all the doors that i opened, thinking it was coming from behind, and then baaaaaaam :D

Very nice for a first game, although it was a bit short :) I liked the running animation!

Nice little game, a bit hard, maybe because you can see so little it is very dark. I liked the rocket launcher best and seeing the body parts fly away :D

Thank you so much for playing, i am really glad you had a great time playing Witch’s Brew!

Thank you for playing, it means a lot to me that you had a great time with Witch’s Brew! I’m working on a post jam version so come back later and have another go at it then :)

Awesome, thank you so much! I tried to make it so that the player should not have to max out all upgrades to be able to beat the game as to not make it too difficult but maybe i can implement a difficulty settings or something. I’m working on a post jam version with a lot of improvements and new features, so come back later to check it out :)

Please make a WebGL version of this, i really want to play this but can’t cuz i’m on a Mac here.

Thank you so much for your kind words, and for playing! I think the “ghost wails” you mention is the sound of a skull dying :D And you are the first one to mention the triggered sounds, thank you very much :)

Love this, it looks almost like a cartoon with the limited colors and creates a nice atmosphere with the cute animations, plus now it all makes sense what my two cats have been doing all along every night :D

Holy crap, that was getting more evil with every modifier :D At first i was like, yeah pong, how hard can it be, but then the first modifier kicks in and i was like ok this is cool, and then all of a sudden the controls change mid-game ?!?! Really like this game! One time my controls were broken and i couldn’t move.

Woow,  i could almost feel those bones snapping, thats some great work there with the animations and sound effects. It looks real nice and also i very much liked the voice acting, great job!

Very nice game, got me hooked for a long time cranking! I like the visuals and audio and just watching that crank go round and round and the coins flying :D The skillcheck mechanic was an added source of pleasure for me trying to hit my spacebar at the right time and also trying to do it multiple times in 1 circle!

Cool game, i liked the simple controls and the audio too! At first i was wondering what made me loose a life, i thought it was when i missed some candy so i was frantically collecting all the green “candy” also :D

This is awesome! Thank you for creating the webgl build and letting me play this, i loved everything about it. Fullscreen is a bit slow for me but otherwise very nice job!

Awesome, thank you for playing! I tried to make it so that the player should not have to max out the upgrades to be able to finish the game as to not make it too difficult. I’m creating a post jam version, maybe i can implement some difficulty setting or something :)

Awesome game with it’s eerie atmosphere and great visuals, i never ever looked back lol was too scared to do it!

Awesome, thank you for playing! More people have mentioned they think the prices are a bit too high so i’m going to create a post jam version of this with a lot of improvements!

Wow very well done, nice story and loved the audio, but now i want to know what those wheat cornels where doing in my grave and why there are so many of them :D

Very nice game, solving the riddles and finding a potion is very rewarding, i like it very much!

That would be awesome, thanks in advance :) Browsers are very capable of running 3d games if properly optimised so i’m confident i’ll get to enjoy this soon!

Cool game, i enjoyed running around in the city managing my sprint meter :D i found a bunch of the artefacts but 1 was spawned inside the collider of a tree so wasn’t able to pick it up.
