An interesting art style throughout which was cool to see, and definitely fits the theme. Also allows for some really well conveyed mechanics and a nice way of showing your progression through the area of the level.
Though I will say the fact that it iios just one level is a little annoying without checkpoints. Considering how evil some of the jumps are, or the platforms of death murdering you. (I may have died to one i, a lot).
Other than that though there's some really well conveyed mechanics to how the AI works, without the need for a tutorial. It's clear very quickly that the AI can flip switches, which comes in handy later on and it's just told by the fact that the AI can save itself from the first pit. Though I mostly noticed it on the later stuff the first few runs obviously since I rushed to save the AI from the first pit.
Might've been better to force that possibly, though like I said, I did figure it out relatively soon after, pretty sure with the 2nd green switch when it falls from the top onto it. Makes it relatively clear what it does which is nice.
Also though the checkpoints not being there is sort of compounded by the fact that the jumps are quite punishing, considering that if you miss even a single jump the AI will generally out speed you to the next obstacle and lead to you getting reset all the way back.
Which when comboed with the relatively slow and uncontrollable speed of the AI, especially early on, leads to a LONG time trying to setup for a new run and attempt at executing a jump or two. Then repeat that if you mess up any other jumps and away ya go.
One final QOL of thing I would probably recommend adding, is some sort of timer over the switches so that you know how long you have before they switch back. Mostly so that there's a bit more that you can plana round in terms of not having to hit the switch RIGHT before the AI goes past it.
There were just a few times that I died to a switch switching back before I thought, or too late, etc. It wasn't the worst, but it was not the nicest to die to a random falling I when I thought I still had time to cross it.
Overall though a really simple set of mechanism executed REALLY well in a interesting level setup that had me a little confused at times,. which was nice, and at others just sort of stuck getting the execution unfortunately. Also. I felt kind of robbed when my AI just stared into a wall for eternity when it reached the finale.
The AI is extremly fast and you can't tell when the doors will desactivate. Also, the effect is misaligned. Look :
I loved all of the game! The graphics, the music, the gameplay... I just found it a little hard
Thanks for the review!
Simple game but pretty clever and fun.
Maybe a few checkpoints would've been nice. (Or at least I didn't find any Lol)
The first time I got locked behind the red X with the one lever I thought it was a plot twist ending, but then I quickly realized that I was just slow. Haha.
Haha, thanks for playing!
Awesome game, been waiting to find an harder game around here.
it was very fun to time the pressing of the switches just right. really felt like a collab with an AI.
great work you did here!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Fun game !
Thanks!
Unique artstyle. Great game.
Check out mine too if you want: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-4/rate/1663718
Thank you! I'll check yours out!
Nice and simple gameplay, the art is really cool. Love how everything if from the keyboard. It's punishing to fail since you lose so much progress, besides that it was fun.
Thank you! Will definitely focus on difficulty on my game..
Simple but unique gameplay; maybe needed some balancing difficulty and adjustments on those levers. Nevertheless, a great game!
Thanks!
Great game, really like the simple graphic and game mechanics
Thanks!
I like the feeling this game gives me! It reminds me of old arcade games! I wish that the levers would stay activated for a little longer tho lol
Thanks for playing :
The visuals and the pacing of the game is really nice. The rhythm of the game fits very well with the music. But it is indeed a little hard for me.
Thanks for the feedback!
Love the idea and the artstyle the one thing i find kind of annoying is, if you make a mistake near the end you get sent all the way back to the beginning
Checkpoints would've been nice, didn't have enough time though! Thanks for playing!
I like the simple graphics. It's a nice, simple idea well executed.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it.
Really cool game. Oh and I also like the ASCII level design style. Thumbs up👍
EDIT: Man you ere close. 53 seconds before the deadline?! And I thought I was close with 1 minute and 30 secs
Yeah, the HTML version wasn't working, so I had to remove some bugs in the last few minutes. Thanks for playing!
the art style is stunning !
Thank you!
I like the art style but the game is too hard for me
Fair! Difficulty is hard to judge because when you play your game for ages you get pretty good at it! Checkpoints would've been nice!
add some checkpoints.
That would have been the next objective on my to-do list, but I ran out of time... thanks for the review!
Cool visuals and nice concept, reminded me of the Mario Maker coop levels
Thanks! Being compared to Mario is definitely a compliment!
I like the game concept. Nice visuals, nice athsetic and smooth animations. But I feel like the game becomes really hard a bit too quick. Thats just me though.
Yeah, some bits are a lot harder than others - I could have spent more time on level design. Thanks for the comment!
