Can't really say anything more than fun and simple, could use a restart button though.
I really liked this game!
The idea of a platformer where you have to die at it's core is not very original, but you clearly gave it your own flavour. I haven't seen anyone else implement it in the way you did!
In most of these platformers, it's not really a challenge to die, since you can just always go back to the spikes or hole. I think making the camera scroll through the level was a really clever finding!
This way you had to rush to an obstacle to die of it as much as possible, before it was out of the screen.
You also set some nice traps, where I died, and then spawn in 3 hearts and in my panic grab all three of them ;)
To improve the game I would add some kind of main menu, so the game does not start inmediately.
Also I would add some endscreen with the possibility to restart and try to get a higher score (via this main menu?), so you don't have to refresh the page if you want to play another time.
Great game, well done!
I absolutely LOVED the visual design of this game. The colors popped, and the lines were minimalist yet completely clear.
I love the core gameplay idea. Many games use dying on purpose, but this is the first one I've played that makes dying a challenge, and a fast-paced one at that. My favorite sections were places with spikes or pits so I could try to jump into them as many times as possible before they disappeared.
The music that is here is nice and fits the theme, but there's not very much of it. It sounds like it's only 4 bars long, so it loops often and gets annoying after hearing it many times. I think you picked a good song to match the tone of your game, but I would suggest choosing something longer!
Hey I remember actually coming across your livestream on Friday to see how other people are doing and I was amazed by how polished the game already looked. I'm glad to have found the game again. Very beautifully made and satisfying to play.
Although an straightforward take on the theme, I felt the execution was well done. The succ was worthy.
Really loved the simple graphics of this entry! Honestly the really simple linework with different colors really just did it for me! The shooting and dying also had really good feedback with the screen shake and particles, so well done on that! As for the theme, it was essentially just a sprite swap between hazards and powerups, so I don't think it really did anything interest with it there. But it is a solid, good looking game that is fun to play, so good job on that!
Fits the theme nicely, graphics are cool and it's a worthy play :)
The art style is amazing, but the music is all panned to my left ear, not sure if it's something wrong with my headphones but you might want to look into that. Cool take on the concept and the controls are really responsive!
I'd be grateful if you would take a look at my game!
Nice game to look at. The visuals all fit together very well, which results in a nice overall picture.
The game concept fits very well with the jams topic too. You just need to die as many times to get a higher score. I got a high score of 8, i'm just not bad enough.
In summary, this is a very well made game to play.
That was actually super fun and the directions were spot on... "Just die as much as you can bro"!! I actually laughed at that. Anyways great stuff dude!
