Really cool art and animations! I thought it was fun.

Check out my game if you want :)

Really nice and polished game well done. Really like how you can draw your sword or put it back in but maybe make something with it like player moves faster or something like that. Also combat which is just clicking idk it doesn't do it for me sry

Submitted

Oooh this game is nice and snappy :) I'm a sucker for a good pixel art dungeon crawl. Audio feels quite exciting. I only wish that you could play it on browser! But besides that, awesome game!

Submitted

Great game, has potential, but it feels like it needs a gimmic
if you want to go the current trend route. you would go something like branching upgrade tree
but it could be something like you loose hp per swing and make it more of a puzzle
also the controls can be improved I think, I got a little tired from all the clicking
visuals are superb though, loved the art

good work!

Developer

Yeah, one of the main things going foward (if I continue work on this game) is making deaths more even impactful, but a skill tree was unrealistic for the jam. Would you mind elaborating on how you would improve the controls a bit? And thank you for the feedback!

Submitted

I was just thinking that having to spam left click is a little tiresome, maybe if there was an option to just hold it to keep attacking

But of course it's up to you, this might be just my personal thing

Thats such a great game. I love the art the music is ok and its so well polished. Really good job and when i saw that the value of the music was saved i now that you put a lot off afford in this Jam. Its not easy to make such a good gam in 72 hours, great Job.

I had some extra time so I decided to implement the persistent slider. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

I'm in love with the art, I hope I'll learn to pixel art like that one day! Looks really cool!
The game is fun and the theme is implemented very well! I would've loved to have one additional mechanic, that kinda makes you alternate from permanently swinging your sword (or add something to it). The music fits perfectly as well!

Very cool!

Developer(+1)

All it takes is practice and a little bit of luck, with time I'm sure you'll get there! And yes, the sword gets a bit repetitive, if I were to ever expand on the game adding more mechanics to diversify it would definitely be the top priority. Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted

Nice game, the sword swinging is very satisfying.

Great work! I like the pixel art and the music. The coming of new enemies are great!

Submitted

The music is really good. Would be nice to introduce the enemies with projectiles earlier on. They give a good bit of variety to the waves you face.

Developer

I agree, but I wanted them to be a little surprised for people who got to stage 7 or later, as they were drastically different from all the other enemies (and they are also called spitoons and are absolutely my favorite enemy). If I were ever to expand and add more unique enemies I would definitely make them appear earlier though. Thank you for playing!

Submitted

First of all, the music ( Oh god the music ) was awesome

I loved the variety in enemy types, you also introduced them gradually and had a good difficulty curve. I also liked how the traps set by the other enemies would hurt other enemies as well introducing a small layer of strategy. My main problem in the game though was a lack of feedback. I couldn't really tell if I was hitting an enemy or if they were really doing damage to me. Any sort of feedback would have helped. The game is still nice though. Good work

Developer(+1)

I agree, the feedback definitely is not the best and needs some work. Thank you very much for playing!

Great Game. You die → you get stronger, but time runs out more quickly. Nice concept it fits together very well. After a while it gets a bit monotonous, but the art also looks nice, and it is generally good. Especially for such a short time to make the game.

Submitted

Awesome game! I like the introduction of new enemy types

Submitted

ITS AWESOME. ITS AWESOME THAT YOU GET STRONK WHEN U DED WOOOF MEOW

Submitted

epic! dying to become strong is a good idea. here is mine if u wanna play. it's a platformer where u die to go to the next level. https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-3/rate/940962

Fun Little game, like how you get stronger when you die, after that i started trying to die while kill enemies. pretty fun.

It was very fun! Really puts the 5 stars on the topic. I loved the simplicity of the art too. Very appealing. Not sure if itwas just me but I had some issues figuring out how to start because the screen stretched a bit out of my screen size. But Still, great submission!

Developer

Im glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for the bug notice, haven't heard of the screen stretch bug thing occurring before. If I may ask, does your monitor have a 16:9 resolution?

I loved the artstyle,  sound effects and generally the feedback you get after every action. The only thing i would improve about this game is how you handled the topic. Just getting a buff from dying seems too simple for me, maybe with more time you could've come up with something more interactive  for this topic in particular. That is really the only critic I've got for the game, everything else was really well done. The aestethics in general were the best part of the game for me. Good job!

I love that sword animation that follows the mouse, its one of my favs lol, good game

Submitted

That was fun :) I love the diffrent enemy types espacily the trap placers. Hitting an enemy is realy responsive also sword attack animation is top notch :D

My only issue the starting speed is too slow other than that i liked it great job :D

Note : Literally hiting the esc button to exit is realy cool :D

Developer

Thank you very much!

I didn't get the twist sadly so for me this game was just a normal top down dungeon game :3

Also, why can you retract the sword?? Is it part of the twist, or is it something else entirely?? Is it necessary??

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback.  I originally planned on adding a tutorial to explain everything but ran out of time and ended up putting a simple manual button, I don't know if you saw it or not/if that helped. The twist is supposed to be that dying increases your strength and speed to combat the enemies which become stronger each wave, yet dying also speeds up the timer, meaning you have to play smarter the more you die. Anyways, I also planned on adding a more in-depth weapon system which is why I had the retractable sword (it's my first jam and I had no idea how quickly, or slowly, I'd be able to get stuff done).  Even so, I hope you still found the game enjoyable!

Submitted

Yes, the game was very enjoyable, and i had fun with it!! I didn't actually noticed that you get a buff after you died because i quit right after i died, thinking that the game was over xD (since i've been playing for a while). I actually never noticed the timer while playing, i wasn't aware of it O.o

I've seen the manual screen, but i didn't actuall read the text because it was too crammed and i got scared by it, and close it because of it

I see... Good luck in case you choose to continue the game after the jam!! (^u^)
