I enjoyed playing this felt like the good ol' portal days, but with a new toy. Couple of minor glitches here in there, like I'm not sure if I heard all of the ending voice recordings because the game suddenly quit, although that may have been the end, but it coulda used some time to breathe.
Overall I liked this a lot!
Thanks for playing, Zed! It just quits out at the end. I ended up making the audio a really short clip since I didn't like what I initially recorded. I would've liked to add some more rooms just for exploring. Hopefully I'll make an update to fix some of the issues, and pace it a bit better. :)
Oh great! I would look forward to playing more levels if you got around to building some :)
Also one more bug I noticed in the second last room (with the dropping boxes) when i was trying to solve the room i tried to connect the button to the pad on the ground and then I was unable to disconnect them and the game began glitching out pretty bad whenever I tried to disconnect them, I had to restart the game to progress... It was odd.... I'm using an Index if that helps you narrow it down!
Thank you! It's most likely my hastily written attach/detach system. :P
First play through I hit a progress blocker when I disconnected the wire from the pad that spawns the green blocks. My headset is the Index, if it matters. Second play I was able to get all the way through except the very last connection didn't quite work as expected (I had to spam it, then it appeared rather randomly)
I loved the chalk writing you put on the floor, added a lot of theme to the game. I also loved to hear someone else go gutsy and record their voice. Hearing your own voice is always so unnerving.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, the main room has some bugs with the connections. I put those in last minute and didn't have a super stable system for everything.
Ahaha, yeahhh! I ended up cutting back a lot what I had hoped to record.
Hey Andrew, great job! It took me a bit to figure out what I needed to do, but it was fun when I did. my teleport stopped working in the room with the red box at the top so I couldn't advance sadly. Also, some sound + feedback from the gun would be great additions.
Thanks for playing, for sure! I really wanted more sound effects, and ambient noise. But, it's just so hard to find decent stuff.
You're the second person to mention the teleporting stopped working. It's the XR Toolkit's built-in teleporter. So, looks like I'll have to see if I can replicate it on my end.
Neat little puzzle game! It was a little unclear at times (especially last couple of rooms) how exactly the connector was supposed to work, but I got to the end with a bit of trial and error. The wiring-up mechanic definitely has a lot of potential for a longer puzzle game. I love the minimalist aesthetic, nice and easy for a game jam but still cohesive and not too bland.
Thanks for playing, Agree'd! I need to create a sort-of connector/receiver relationship so it's a bit more clear. It really all managed to come together at the end. I already already built the rooms using the grids unsure if my friend was going to have the stone assets done in time. So, I ultimately aimed to combine the two since I wouldn't have had time to rebuild the levels, and lighting.
Lovely! I wish there are more levels. Teleport direction on Oculus controller is pointing too high for me, although I'm used to extend my arms to teleport.
Thanks for playing! Could to further explain the extending of your arm to teleport?
Looks and feels great, I'd just love some better controls and more levels :D
I wasn't sure if it was over or crashed at the end.
Thanks for playing! I certainly want to re-do the controls so they work better for non Vive controllers.
It's over once you reach the rotating sphere. I wish SteamVR went back to the Home. It kinda just hangs awkwardly at the end. I probably should've gone back to the menu, or made a credits scene.
I'm so happy to see so many great puzzle games this jam!! I had a lot of fun with this one. It was a little janky on the controls, but the mechanics are solid and have a ton of potential.
You should really consider expanding this. There's a lot you could do with it.
I'd love to hear what you think about my game when you get the chance!
Biggums! I have! I enjoyed it so much I retweeted you.

I'm a judge for the jam and did a round on all the games as of yesterday. So, I'm gonna go around and add comments too this week. You should get a comment soon, and a more constructive feedback once the judgement period is over in a couple weeks.
Thank you for the encouragement, you're project is super dope so it means a lot. I would like to improve this project and put it on SideQuest and/or an updated Itch page.
OHHH I didn't realize you were Andrew!! Thanks for the retweet!
That's the hope! Trying to be a somewhat incognito. :P
Couldn't figure out the last room. Teleport binding was a little weird, and I know I could fix it through bindings but I didn't want to mess with bindings. Holding things is a little weird but it's probably just because of the index controller, having to constantly grip to hold stuff is just annoying. Our own game has that problem. Was confused about how some things worked, like there was no previous experience of picking up and moving boxes onto switches and all in all the mechanic itself was slightly confusing. Really really liked the chamber design and text scribbles, reminded me of portal and super hot.
Yeah! I'm not thrilled with the available inputs with XR Toolkit. I would've preferred a non-grip option. I had to give up on trying to write my quick wrapper for it. I too don't like having to grip all the timer either. The hope was that the socket would alleviate that. Primarily to have an open hand, then just pull out the Connector when needed. That's true about the box! Should've had something early on that needed to be picked up to illustrate that. Thanks for playing, and the wonderful feedback! :)
Yeah we had a similar problem in our game where people were wondering how to move the key into the lock in the first room, definitely feel like we should have threw a key into the very first room, or put the purple particles on it to indicate which power is supposed to be used. Everyone I got feedback from said they tried to pick it up, which duh it's a VR game, why wouldn't you try to pick it up lol.
Which game is yours? I'd like to check it out.
I'm the developer for AWW Yeah
Can you check out my team's game as well? We only have 4 ratings right now: https://symbioticparker.itch.io/a-wizards-wand
Cool game, loved the idea! I needed some time until I got the controls right but then it was very fun.
Maybe put some low background music or ambience sound. The voicovers were great, it really delivered some aperture science vibes ;)
Would be cool to see you taking this further after the jam.
I looked for some like air conditioning or white noise or something! But, I couldn't find anything good enough. Good to know I was on the right track, thanks for playing! I'd certainly like to take it a step further in the future.
Really great mechanic however my connector stopped connecting a few rooms in and my teleport randomly stops working. I'm running an Oculus cv1.
Thanks for playing!
I haven't experienced that. The teleporting, and connecting are not tied in anyway. Could it possibly be that your input/tracking stopped working? Seeing that one controller is for connecting, the other is teleporting and both were somewhat unresponsive.
no my input works otherwise. I tried restarting your game a few times and around the 3d to 4th room things stop working for me. Its like its having trouble getting input from my controllers. I play someone else's game after and it worked just fine.
There are only 4 rooms in the actual experience, not counting the title. After room 3, you're in the final room with the revolving sphere. Once you attach yourself, the game should quit. Based on your description, it sounds like you're reaching the end.
If I go to room 3 and connect and unconnect a bunch of items, also select and deselect by selecting the object again. Eventually 15-20 seconds the connector stops working. I recorded a video after it broke. https://we.tl/t-OyHynikLwt
Thanks for the video! Yep, that's most likely a bug with the tool. My biggest concern was with both the teleporting, and the tool not working.
The teleporting not working, I think is my left hand thumbstick is drifting, so the teleportation functionality is not working solid.
Really good entry !! Loving the mechanics !
Much appreciated! Thanks for playing. I'll be checking out Golf 'em all! later today.
Since I'm a judge, you'll see it once the judge's scoring process is over.
Oculus RiftS User
That was fun :D
VR interaction worked fine and the challenge kept me playing...
Thumbs up!
Thank you! I have SubLab on my desktop to play right now to try.
I'm in the process of getting through all the OpenVR games before moving onto Oculus specific ones.
HTC Vive User here: Felt like a little test subject :D Movement is a bit wonky with this headset.
Great Gameplay, Fun and theme.
5 star rating sent! It was sure a lot work! Thanks for your submission!
While you are here I've played yours, so please check my game out in the button below.
Thank you! Glad you played. :)
If it was the snap rotation, that would be the limited input for the snap rotation provider I used last minute.
I actually have it downloaded already! I'm judging for the jam, so my comment should come up after the two-week judging period has ended.
No problem, I've played any game, to get a view over all our games. Some gold nuggets are in there!
Nice! I think you will like my game! :)
Wow, this is amazing. Made me feel like a lab rat in Aperture Science. Great feel, look, and gameplay. Makes me want a VR Portal even more. Definitely keeping this demo to show others. Keep up the great work!
Check out my entry https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2020/rate/637630
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to play.
I'm a judge for the jam so I'll be playing all the games. :)
Once the judging period is over you should get a message from me.
