Really great work on the gestures! I had considered using various hand shapes to denote different effects, but decided not to because I thought it would be too complicated to make. You nailed it! 

I did have some issues at first (making the "okay" symbol) due to the controller mapping. After reading the comments and creating a custom controller mapping I got it working tho and finger shooting water balls is a lot of fun! 

I've had the same issues on most of the Unity games using SteamVR controller mapping. Is it an issue with the same Unity VR template that has red glove hands that everyone has been using?

Edit: Forgot to add that I was really impressed with the spatialised audio as well. It's so important for feeling like you are in the space.

Thank you for the compliment! I'm hoping to spend more time expanding on the gestures and giving more purpose to the elements. I feel spatial audio is of huge importance in VR. I wanted to emphasize it further by having the audio represent the elements you can "harmonize with" (air, fire, and life in addition to the water you start by).

VR is definitely going through a transition period in both Unity and Unreal. In the case of Unity, the OpenVR / SteamVR plugin is what I used and provides the red gloves. It has been deprecated in favor of another system, however that system does not yet support the Vive or the Index. Unfortunately the OpenVR plugin I used was not intuitive and I made errors in the build that necessitated the hotfix I released. I do not believe my game works with WMR, however I don't yet have a WMR device to test with.

The environment looks great! Sadly I can't try it because I'm on Oculus and I can't figure out how to make the fist.

Did you try the controller patch? It is required if you don't make custom bindings (the trigger is not bound for Oculus because I was a scrub and didn't know how to save default controls at time of creation).

Fist is made by pressing grip and trigger buttons. "Pointing gesture" is made by pressing only the grip button. "Awareness gesture" is made by pressing only the trigger. Kind of ruins the magic to spell out the button presses, but I think I was TOO mystical in the tutorial.

Edit - Also in my hasty submission I accidentally killed all the "combat dummy skeletons". You can use the magic on the fire though.

Yeah I had downloaded the patch and after that the first magic part worked, but the fist part didn't. I'll try it out again soon to see if it works. Thanks!

Now I got it! I just wasn't punching hard enough last time. It's still a bit hard to do some of the moves but good job!

Thanks so much for trying again! I really need a couple weeks to make a punch gesture system work the way I would like. But I don't think it's too terrible for 1.5 days work.

Nice! It is missing something to hit with those spells to make it more satisfying to cast, like those boxes being kicked away or something, but I am sure like most of us you had some bigger plans :D

Sadly, the system damage and knock things around is in but I accidentally broke it on my final submission because I quickly ripped out some skeleton characters. It looked like there was performance issues caused by them, but now I'm not so sure that was what was wrong. The fire can take damage from water is can also be knocked around by air.

If you want to see the skeletons I have a youtube video with them in the last 2 minutes or so.

Thanks for the kind words! I think next jam I will do a mechanic that is much simpler. I spent so much of my time trying to teach the gestures I didn't have time to create much content. #rookiemistake

That was great!! I like how the way you cast the different elements is the same, but they all behave differently. The effect of attuning to a new power source was really cool too! Who was the mysterious person up on the rocks??? :)

Nice I was hoping someone would notice that. She is a left over from the original plot for the game that is all but cut. In my original voice recording, Sensei is trying to wake a sleeping disciple, and asks "Anissa" to help. She causes an explosion which you then put out with Sensei (instead of the simple guided tutorial). She then creates a barrier of arrows near the cave entrance (which requires the air shield to pass). In the end the experience needed at least another 10 hours to polish and wasn't quite as exciting as I had hoped. It was also quite awkward to learn 5 gestures while there was a fire raging right next to you.

This game was really cool. I do wish there was something to use my abilities on. We actually used the same asset pack for the magic. When I started though I immediately though Avatar, but yeah unfortunately I just wish there was actually a use for the abilities. Another small thing was trying to get the hand signs perfectly, it took me a little bit because I couldn't match what the guy was doing. Overall the game was pretty cool. Great job.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I had a lot more planned for the game, but it was difficult getting in that much while also balancing a day job. Turns out my last minute scramble to resolve performance also eliminated almost all the targets for the spells. You can see them in better action in a youtube video I just made. I also discussed a bit more about what I had planned. All the knock back and damage logic you see in the video can be applied to the flames, it is just that they are set to be immune to damage from all elements except water.

Excellently done! Hand gestures are really good, beatiful scenery. There is definetly some Avatar feeling!

Hey for anyone that plays on the Vive or the Oculus, for some reason the "Trigger" binding did not stick (which is required to pass the first gesture taught to you by Sensei). You'll need to bind it in your SteamVR settings.

Edit: I did some digging and apparently I did not press the "replace default bindings" when I created the bindings. If you don't want to / can't use SteamVR to bind the Trigger button you can download a patch to fix the issue at Disciples of Elemental Harmony - Controller Fix.

Played on Vive with index controllers and damn I love what you did with the gestures! Incredibly creative and satisfying. Beautiful art too, would love to see this expanded for further release. All in all, great job!!!

This looks and sounds fantastic! Unfortunately, I've only got a Vive here, so no individual finger tracking on the controllers. Anyway, nice work, I'll try to remember giving this a shot if I ever get myself an Index.

Finger tracking is not required. I explicitly avoided using the word "buttons" in game to establish a lore, but it is essentially based on trigger and grip buttons. I didn't have enough time to build a full finger gesture system given this was my first foray into real VR dev. You should be able to play it fine on the Vive. In fact I would love to hear if there are problems.

I mean... I did try a number of things with the buttons, but I couldn't get the hand skeleton to even do the first gesture (touch thumb and index finger while extending all others) with the Vive controllers.

That part is supposed to work with by just holding the trigger buttons. I thought I made some default bindings for Index, Vive, and Occulus, but maybe I messed up on that part.

As I stated in my other comment, I figured out I somehow missed saving the bindings for Vive and Oculus. If you add the "Trigger" action to the trigger button you should be able to complete the training and play with the spells.

That did work, but then I couldn't figure out how to make a fist with the Vive controllers. :D Part of the problem is also that the hand skeleton doesn't really match what I'm supposed to do (e.g. when I pulled the trigger, it did accept the first gesture but the hand skeleton actually had all fingers except the thumb folded into a fist).
