Really fun and grandiose game!

I can feel it: the good replayability value, the real nice sprites and portraits, the small metroidvania element in the power gems(?).

And the banger of a soundtrack, that makes you feel like you're doing the greatest and most perfect bank robbery. Love everything about this game.

I've featured it in my video, come and watch Marisa robbing a freaking bank I guess XD:

Fun!

Came looking for copper, I found gold.
An amazing platformer for speedrun enthusiasts, very good music and amazing art.
You need to be kinda crafty to not get stuck on narrow jumps, but still, it kinda sums to the experience.

PD: This runs horribly on Chrome, I had to use firefox because it las so much.

I came in expecting something like the coin ship in Mario Bros. 3, but then a diamond gave me a power-up... This game was a very pleasant surprise. I agree with previous comments that the maze room was a bit annoying, but that's about my only complaint. Very solid jam game! Could use a local version with a hi-score feature for improved replayability.

Cash money: 3250 coins.

If I were in charge of a bank, this is how it would be laid out. And there would definitely be powerups.

2559 coins on my run.

Loved everything about the game. The snes graphics, the character art, the dialogue, the concept of robbing a bank, the vault background, the gameplay... one of my favorites for sure! I only got 1735 coins on my first try though.

Also the bgm is amazing, checking the artist soundcloud now, what is the name of the track you used?

A 5 minute arcade-style Metroidvania is something I've never played before, but I had a ton of fun!

speedy and funky, beats go with marisa's attitude. i can see its made to be done twice but currently reviewing after first attempt because i thiiiiink i found my way through every room. marisa is super floaty but it can help when collecting massive swaths of money at once

cash money: 2844 coins

I'm terrible at jumping but I still got the hang of it thanks to the intuitive level design. Very nice and pretty and fun and funky.

I enjoyed the story and the aesthetic a lot, and love the replayability factor. Wish I could download it, but that's just a very very minor personal preference

also the music absolutely SLAPS and i would listen to it on repeat for hours

This was pretty fun, and the story was ridiculously cute as well! I also liked all the extra unlockable movement options, like the gliding and super jump!

I don't know if this was in the game and I just missed it, but something like a magnet powerup would be really cool, to help players suck up those barely out of reach coins.

Cute concept!

My only real complaint is that the controls are pretty weird and slippery, but it does its job. I'd like to see this game fully complete in the future!

This is adorable - thanks for making! The framing device is perfect, the gameplay itself is fun, and it's really suited towards multiple playthroughs.

Never played a timed metroidvania before, that was a pretty fun combination of mechanics. The art and story was cute, and the song really fits!

I guess my only nitpicks would be the floaty movement/collisions, and static coin physics.

Developer

Thanks! I love short games, especially for game jams, and I'm glad the timer both fit the game theme and IMO helped the gameplay. I also love my artists for turning out such incredible work hahaha (and the free music sites I use for banger BGMs).

Floaty physics is a comment I've received a few times both from inside and outside the team haha. I feel like I got used to it (maybe an artifact of the Mario teardowns I used as a baseline for the game) and overall wanted to enable higher mobility (thus the double-jump), but I'd be happy to hear if you have any references for games that you thought this might be more appropriate to feel like. It's a good excuse for me to play more. :P

That's just so beautiful, I am at loss of words.

Would be even better to have some kind of magnet, as starting ability, or as a diamond, and I didn't found high-jump that much useful, besides escaping hole with this diamond, other than that it's masterpiece

Thank you!! I ended up doing basically all the level design real late, I almost felt like I just wrote a short story wrapped around some simple platforming. But in the end the timer made it a lot of fun for me lol

Magnet was one of the abilities I really wanted to implement as well! I had technical issues (the same reason the coins get stuck everywhere and also don't slide from side to side), so I wasn't able to in time unfortunately.

i appreciate this immeasurably.

small note of feedback: the floaty movement makes it hard to jump up into 1-tile gaps. changing the movement would break other parts of the game, so maybe the collision for gaps or the player should be shaped in a way that funnels them up if they try to jump into one, instead of hitting the corner

Developer

Thanks for the keen insight on how to fine-tune the physics! (and I definitely dislike the maze room the most myself lol) I threw together the physics kind of sloppily on the first day by just referencing a few Mario teardowns; if I have more time, I definitely would want to study some famous ones to understand how they nudge things in favorite of the player. I remember reading some really interesting things about Celeste in this regard.
