Excellent take on the theme! The music sets a great mood and fits in with the art style very well.

I couldn't figure out how to pass the level after the one with wall jumps. P didn't bring up the pause menu, so I couldn't receive a hint. Still, I enjoyed this!

Great work!

Very unique game! As others have pointed out, I really like the vibes and mood. The glitch effect paired with the music and palette works well. There's some really clever puzzles here but without the hints I don't think I would've figured them out. With the hints, they may have felt a bit obvious. It's a delicate balancing act for sure. All-in-all, this is a really clever game matched by some great mood/vibe, and with a bit more refinement of the puzzles, could become a really promising prototype. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! The hint system can indeed be a bit obvious. I thought of adding a 3 layer system, with direction hint and solution, but didn't have enough time in the jam

Submitted(+1)

The art is aweseom! I did struggle to figure out the 3 level already wasn't sure what to do but overall looks great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! Check the hint system for a hint if you need one!

The solution is: get 20 headhitters in the 1x1part

The mood is really well setupped however even with the hints I quickly got stucked with some mechanic and didn't really understood how to make it advance

Like others have mentioned the music and sound design slaps! It really gives the creepy, electronical theme that fits into the theme really well. In addition to the visuals and gameplay. Love the glitchy effects around the screen and for the tiles as well. Very subtle but done well. I had to look at other people's answers to figure out the way through some of the levels, so I think if the tricks can be suggested a bit more or at least have the player develop some of those expectations first would definitely help the flow. But otherwise I love the concept and the overall feel of the game. Great work!

Developer(+1)

I don't know if you know this, but we have a hint system! Press escape, or p(for we builds) to get to the pause menu, here is the hint system

Submitted(+1)

Ah I see it now. Good to know! I didn't realize that in the beginning since I don't think that was mentioned in the controls section. Definitely helps a lot!

I REALLY LOVED THE MUSIC, so quirky and fitting for the game. But is that pad not the one for ableton pirates lel? Also I got stuck on the second level until I realised if I left full screen mode I could see the glitched wall, so some monitors might be struggling with this one. I really needed those hints too. Cool game guys!

Developer(+2)

thank you for playing the game and enjoying it. And as the composer, I am happy that you specifically liked the music.

In case you are wondering, the synth pad is two VSTs layered on top each other - one called NY by Fullbucket, the other one is DSK Ethereal Pads. They are free VSTs. I sampled them down in low quality and then reduced them to mono, to get a low-fi sound that fits the pixel aesthetics more. it also makes the pads fairly dense I think, which is a really nice sound for these kind of pixel style games. There is more audio effects and processing on that, but that is mostly it. The DAW i used is LMMs.

I hope this answers your question.

hahahaha got ya, appreciate the explanation. I'm not sure if you know about it, but what I'm refering to is the Ableton crack key gen song, which, I admit, I am guilty of hearing before. However, I've since spent 1k on 12 tho, outch. Crazy that the program to use Ableton for free had an anime girl and a theme song. Anyway, really love ya harmonic ideas and how the song keeps on moving. Real big brain stuff for a 3day game.

Really clever concept and super charming presentation! Loved the glitch effects and overall vibe. The mechanics were a bit tough to figure out at times, but I get that it’s part of the design. Still, some more subtle hints could help players know what to mess with in each room. Great proof-of-concept, though. Awesome work!

Hey our game is kinda similar

Very good integration of the theme - the glitching effect on screen, and sound design was a very nice touch. I got stuck and wasn't sure if that was a bug or a feature, so I guess that meets the theme perfectly. Very funny description on the page too.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing the game. As the composer, I am really happy you liked the music!
Curious to know where you got stuck. Maybe you discovered an actual bug or we just missed a bit to give a clear hint on that puzzle - as some of them can be a little challenging if you do not have the solution right away.

Submitted(+2)

I'm also a composer so I always pay attention to the music and sound design haha it was the room where it looks like a glitching tile is in the upper right of the level, I tried jumping to it, pressing E, running under it etc but couldn't progress. Likely I just missed how to get out :D

Developer(+2)

Oh, I know which one you mean! It is probably level 3 if I am not mistaken.
This is actually our fault, I think this one is easy to miss. You have to stand right below that suspicious block and just spam the jump button to gain enough momentum to glitch through the ceiling. The issue is that we changed the player sprite quite late and somehow it does not show the jump animation in that spot properly, so it looks as if you are just stuck and cannot jump in that spot. So I assume you probably tried this, but did not keep jumping because you thought it had no effect.
so yeah, that is actually a bug, not a feature.

Submitted(+1)

haha ok now I feel less dumb. Thanks!

Developer(+1)

Be sure to check the hints! The hint for this level is: 20headhitters in a row? Impressive

Submitted(+2)

This game was subtly challenging when it came to trying to solve 'bugs'. Not sure if I was missing something, even with the hint but couldn't get past the level with the moving block.

Developer(+1)

Yes, some of those levels can be a bit of a challenge. Most of the bugs are actually inspired by real bugs and stuff you would see in speedruns, so the moving block/plattform puzzle can be solved by just standing under the block, that will then push you through the floor. But I admit that it was fairly hard to find the right balance between giving hints and keeping the levels challenging and without much playtesting, this was the best we could do.
Still thank you for playing the game and testing it out and giving us valuable feedback!

I really like the visual and musical change than occurs when the game "fails" it really sets an admosphere.

Nice entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! As the composer, I am super happy you liked the music change and the atmosphere! We actually had a few more ideas in mind to enhance the atmosphere, but just could not realize all of them in the short time. But still happy that it had an impact on you!

Submitted(+2)

oh this is fun , that was a great interpretation of theme

Developer

Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

I liked how you incorporate those "bugs" which we usually encounter in a platformer as your game's feature! I was stuck at the level with nothing after the wall jump level. Pretty fun game with levels that got me scratch my head for a while and then "a-ha there it is" is kinda cool. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and enjoying the game! I think you are right, some of those puzzles can be a bit hard to solve if you just do not see the solution and player guidance could be a little better (we tried our best in the short time though!), so it can be tricky to get through the entire game. But happy you enjoyed your time!
