Message from the artist
My first time joining the OST Composing Jam! Only had time to do one track, but hope you enjoy :) looking forward to hearing everyone's submissions!
I chose B difficulty since the piece is 99% the same forward and backward in every voice, except for the very last measure - it felt better with something more final, but it is technically bending the rules a bit.
See the itch page for more information on my process and thoughts about the piece!
Difficulty
Make a piece that has the same musical notes both forwards and backwards but doesn’t have to be an identical recording.

Love the Animal Crossing-type chill vibes! Amazing track!
Thank you!
Lovely piece! I loved the chill vibes and the arrangement. For some reason it sounded like an old sims game to me, maybe the piano color or the style, not really sure. Also the cover art was so cute. Awesome Katie!!
Thank you!
I listened to the track backwards and it's almost perfect! Well done.
Thank you!
Sound great! There are some really nice dynamics in this track, I like the melodic rhythms a lot too. The tempo changes with the tambourine and maracas give a nice change of pace in the middle portion. This was a nice listen!
Thank you!
Somehow the picture fitted very well with the song. Bongo cat is up to no good. Nice tempo change chordal voicing. Certainly impresses with its simplicity.
Thank you!
Very chill and pleasant track. Very satisfying instrumentation. Nice work!
Thank you!
Really great melodic track here. Very well textured and mixed.
Thank you!
This was wonderful piano! I felt like I was watching a cartoon from way back and the scene is just the characters are just doinking around. Very playful. My only critique is perhaps adding a bass and light drums. The piano was great but I feel like some extra texture was needed. Great work!
Thank you! I love the idea of bass and drums, might go back and turn this into more of a jazz combo :D
Cool track, sounds nice with reverse melody also. thank you for providing the music sheet.
Thanks, and no problem!
This was nice, there’s sort of a childlike joy and sense of play to it. reminds me a bit of the piano from the “peanuts” show I think. But then it has this ominous build up in reverse that sounds quite cool on its own. i Think a nice bass tone would have helped fill out the song in reverse but otherwise if enjoyed the track :).
Haha I love that comparison, thank you! And yes, could definitely hear a bass helping this out, thanks for the feedback :)
It's so bouncy. I love it.
Thanks!
Such a chill vibe, really enjoyed how it made me feel. Would feel real at home in a cosy indie game setting.
Thank you!
Nice work! I love how you managed to complete challenge B, and I really like your choice of instruments. It was nice to read about your process making the music as well, and it’s always interesting to see someone making use of sheet music.
There are lots of great musical ideas in there, however if I could offer some advice I’d say that it might be better to slow down a little bit - introduce a new idea, then maybe repeat it or build on it before moving onto the next one. Obviously this is only my personal preference though.
Well done on a great first submission :)
Thank you! And agreed on developing each theme more - wish I had started working on this a little earlier 😅
I liked how dynamic the piano was!
Lots of different volumes and it added a lot of texture to the piece!
I did also quite enjoy reading the sheet music as it went and I find it interesting and cool that you seemingly took the piano part from your DAW and translated it into sheet music for just that purpose!
IDK if that's actually what you did but it was cool nonetheless.
Haha I actually wrote the sheet music out first and transferred it into my DAW! Thanks for the feedback :)
That's a cool one, it's interesting to actually see the sheet music and how you played with the symmetry. The xylophone and piano are a good combo, and the little twist at the end works really well. Great job for your first jam— i enjoyed it!
Thanks!
