I totally should have used a theremin you're right!

I was really proud of the title too I'm glad you liked it!

Thank you!

I’m glad you enjoyed it!

thank you!

With the 6/4 section, I wanted to call back to the 4/4 melody by having a part that had the same melodic idea but In 6/4 which may have been what caused it to lose its breathing room since I was trying to “fill in” the 6/4 if that makes sense. I will say I am inexperienced with Time signature changes and I probably should have taken more care into making each section the best it could be.

oh yeah I know the lore I was just making a joke because of the stupid picture of tulin

Thanks!
I just like to write fast songs, and I thought fast music fit the character

yeah I mostly do that because I have them on different mixing channels so it feels easier to keep track of

I didn’t take inspiration from megalovania actually but I do hear it. I mostly took inspiration from my OST jam 8 song today is NOT a good day.

The 5/4 time I knew that I should either do 2+3 or vice versa but I’m just really bad at writing in 5/4 so it was just like a mixture I think.

Thank you!

The 5/4 part was the hardest to write since I’m really bad at writing in 5/4

Thank you!

I actually didn’t intend for it to sound like megalovania lol. I took inspiration from one of my songs I made for OST Jam 8 which itself was inspired by a song from Mad Rat Dead. But I understand the comparison since the baseline follows a similar chromatic descending thing.

I’m curious what you mean? Like because I have the drums in different lines? I’m not very used to using drum loops so I just make my own since it’s what I know.

A very fun story that is super well portrayed in the music! You nailed the magical vibes! The harpsichord especially I think sells it.

The animation with the story is also very engaging and cute!

I like that you went with both challenges! I thought of doing that but decided to stick with just 1 (even though with minor tweaking I could have gotten it down to 3 instruments).

I liked the 6/4 time the best. It was a vibe.

Oh man I love this!

Having it be a rhythm heaven game is perfect and you nailed the rhythm heaven vibes perfectly!

Big fan Big fan!

Normally I'm not a big fan of slower or less involved tracks but there's like an indescribable charm that I sometimes feel with tracks and this one had it. Specifically in the lower parts.

I think the song could stand to be denser since it can feel empty at times which is something that comes with more practice I think.

Good work though since I can tell this is a strong foundation!

The only thing I can think of when I hear that voice synth is Omori.

Very funky and fun and I like that it can loop perfectly.

I think the song can start to get a little repetitive with repeated melodies. Having the melody evolve and change more would have been great to keep me more engaged in the music.

The harp was my favorite instrument you used. It was very smooth compared to the other harsher instruments which made it a nice change of pace when it played.

This what the Zora's evolved into huh?

Super deep. I'm glad I listened with headphones because without them I don't think I would have heard the kick at all.

The song can get really dissonant at times. There are parts where it feels intentional but also parts where it doesn't .

I also think the "hey" sound effect was used a little too much and became distracting.

The instruments were all so fun! I loved the wind instrument you had playing as well as the mallets! What did you use for them?

Congrats on your first composition!

You chose the challenge of reduction but I only every heard 2 instruments being drum kit and piano. A 3rd instrument to flesh out the composition would be good I think as there are parts that can feel a little empty.

The song is really loud. I have it at 40% volume and it's louder than most other things at max.

Aside from that, the lead instrument is very fitting for the character which is good.

Super fitting for the character. IDK why I didn't think to use a theremin that would have fit perfectly.

Very short and also really quiet.

Could definitely use some more time to flesh out the melody and lengthen the song as a whole in interesting ways

The percussion and bass feel out of sync in the beginning which made it feel lopsided and off.

The part with the ambient noise and melodic instrument was my favorite part.

Ain't no way I would have noticed that only 3 instruments play at once it is very rich!

I NEED to know what you used for the marimba because it sounds fantastic and I need to collect mallet instruments since they are my favorite.

A great way to interpret the theme and it ties into the challenge in a unique way.

The instruments can feel a little harsh at times making it get grating a bit fast. The best part is when the percussion comes in and the song fills out.

There's a lot of variance which I like and the song is very neat. I like how the instruments all sound and the jibe with each other in a nice way.

Sometimes it felt like different songs however and it didn't feel like there was a discernable throughline which made it feel somewhat disjointed.

Oh I didn’t do any mixing almost at all. My entire 3 hours basically was spent choosing instruments and writing the music. I was so burnt out from rating the entries to OST jam 8 that I literally said I’m not even gonna worry about mixing.

So really it could be anything and your criticisms are likely correct lol

the only thinking time I took was the night before, I asked my friend and he said to make it sound like that one song called “Bloopin” that sounds really swampy for lack of a better term. But even then the song I made was nothing like it it really was just 3 hours and I had no ideas going in other than a single instrument that didn’t even come to fruition.

Thank you for enjoying it!

Exciting!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

Gonna be honest, I didn't know what you meant by "power up sounds" until I gave it another listen and realized that yeah the riser really does sound like a power up. It was completely unintentional lol. I chose that riser because it reminded me somewhat of the electronic noise mushrooms make when you connect them to like an audio device.

Thank you!

I'm glad you liked it! Them playing in unison helped me go fast since it makes it richer without having to think of different melodies lol.

Thank you!

oh yeah I think the riser is probably overused. It’s a much louder riser than I normally use so it stands out more. and since I was really just going fast, I didn’t make any different or unique drum transition segments. They’re all the same lol.

I would be curious how you feel about my OST jam 8 entry though since I put a lot more time into those songs.

Thank you!

No worries about detailed analysis. Claiming it to be PEAK is PEAK to me!

Lots of reasons for the song to fit the enemy which is great! I liked the middle the best when the winds took the lead.

Your quality of sound is apparent once again as it sounds very professional!
