Themes
"Peaceful" inspired me to make a casual and cozy game that could be enjoyed at the player's own pace without danger.
"Aaand It's Gone Forever" reminded me of death (not to be morbid), so I wanted to include that in the cozy theme.
Tools
Godot, Aseprite and Ableton Live.
Lessons
This was my first time making an opening cinematic and "serious" soundtrack for a game.

Really great job! The music and art is wonderful, and even though my patience is typically low for platformers, I (think) I made it all the way through (there was no winning notice). For a first time opening cinematic and soundtrack -- both were amazing.
The only thing I would add is some animation to the character: an idle/breathing movement, a squish-down movement when you hit the floor, and stretch-up movement when you jump would be perfect.
I really like the idea of a "cozy metroidvania". The abilities were cool, and I liked how the rooms changed their appearance after you lit up the candles. Graphics aren't bad, but I have to admit that I didn't realize I was playing a ghost, until I walked into the light. ^^' Maybe I just didn't look at the signs.. The game was pretty short, but what can I say, my game (as it was intended) isn't even finished (not even closely).
Sick game, tight well paced progression and great visual design. Loved all the different environment palettes, and the the effects and tiny bits of juice were really cool, especially that candle effect and the animated grass. Powers felt intuitive to use and I enjoyed the kind of ghosty ambiance. Also that intro cutscene is next level for a jam game, very cool.
I did finish it and jump into the light. With no filler and all interesting content, the entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable.
Awesome job!
Hell yeah, thank you so much!
Okay the intro was stunning though? The way the lighthouse light was animated, and the minimal use of lines for the keeper only visible by the barest illumination? Chef's kiss, no notes, wonderful.
Ah, right, there's a game, too! And the game is also very good! I'm just a lighthouse keeper's spirit, doing my silly little tasks, keeping the coast safe, and when the light has been fixed, going into the light. Chef's kiss. No notes. Wonderful.
An excellent entry. Well done.
Thank you so much! I feel terrible for disrespecting the farting astronaut now, even if you did make the most beautiful planet effect I’ve seen this year. I can’t get over the fact you did that. That beautiful bloody game, and you dropped in a farting astronaut. You’re living rent-free in my head. This is the last thing I’m going to remember before I die.
Look, anyway: thank you! I know there isn’t time to play everything, and I’m honestly so grateful you made time to check out a lighthouse keeper who probably farted one time max in the whole game.
Much enjoyed
Thank you so much for playing it! There are too many games to enjoy during the voting period, so I’m intensely grateful for everyone who spares a minute for this one. Thank you!
Neat little metroidvania with an awesome atmosphere attached to it! The mellow OST in the background really helped sell the mood of the game, and everything slowly being repaired/restored before, i think, passing on is a super neat interpretation of the themes!
Super well done, and it was really fun watching the game get together with the devlogs!
Ah, thank you so much! I’m so grateful for you playing!
Everything about this felt great to play.
Thank you! I was blessed by some very patient playtesters. :D
5/5. So glad you commented on my page so that I found this gem. Movement felt so smooth, levels were beautifully designed, really satisfying puzzles and spells. Thanks for making this masterpiece!
Hey, thank you so much! I was gutted I couldn’t get Click Click BOOM working on my machine because it looks bloody awesome. I’ve bookmarked it to try on my Linux laptop to see if I have more luck. There are just so many games to try to review at the last minute, so I’m intensely grateful you gave me a few minutes of your time! Thank you!
Well done! I like the peaceful style, it's good for a relax. The puzzle techniques are good. I only have a question: is it possible to finish the game somehow? Cause I did everything what was possible to do (or at least I think I did), but there wasn't anything like an ending. My question: is there an ending that I can achieve or am I supposed to just walk around and relax after doing everything? Or maybe the goal of the game is to achieve the top (in the picture)?
Hey, thanks for playing the game! There absolutely is an ending, if you can find a way to walk into that light at the top right. :)
If you don’t recognise the green thing beneath it then you’ve still got a bit of exploring to do – good luck!
Oh, thank you! I tried again and truly found an unexplored place with the blue spell. Now I've finished it.
That’s fantastic!
I’ve seen your brutal (but fair!) comments on everyone else’s games and I was ready to die when I saw your name on my page, but you’re totally right isn’t obvious how to end the game. So thanks for not destroying me! :D
What an awesome little puzzle world so fun and chill. Great game!
Hah, thank you! It’s not as addictive as some other game I could mention ;) but thank you for checking it out!
Very fun and cozy. Loved the graphics and the visuals when it came to the spells. I really enjoyed my time playing the game. And as you said it is quite peaceful. Great job!
Thank you so much! <3
I love the idea of combining death with a cozy game--such a sick vibe esp with the awesome music. I loveeeeeee the intro. overall, amazing game (esp considering you did all of this in the 14 days!!)!
Oh, thank you so much! That’s means a ton from you, because I’m super envious of the cozy vibe in Cat-ISTA. It’s at the top of my list to go back and play again – so honestly, thank you! :D
Solid 5s across the board. Such a lovely game
Oh, you are far too kind – but thank you! :D
Really nice little metroidvania, the intro cutscene was really atmospheric, games about death are always very hard to make especially due to the concept of respawning but a cozy game about post-death is very interesting. The character design is pretty neat as well although it did remind me of Aesprite icon but that only made it more relatable tbh :p
Hah, thank you! I never thought about that resemblance, and now it’s obvious. :)
Very nice level design, and I always love a good metroidvania!
Thank you so much! :)
Loved this! A perfect game for the jam - nice and compact with great art, animation and really good level design utilising all the mechanics. Loved the simple story, though kind of sad... but the music works really well and the intro was well put together. Impressed with how much you managed to do in the time frame.
Thank you! I got lucky that I had 14 uninterrupted days to hyper focus. It seems like a cheat compared to folks who had to go to work and school – but still, thank you so much for the kind words. :)
wow what an inspiring game, everything is cool. The intro is incredible, the pixel art is beautiful as well as the animations. The game mechanics are super cool and I love this kind of little experience that can be done in a few minutes. The ideal format for game jam games. Congratulations on this achievement. The peaceful atmosphere is well respected and what a pleasure to progress in this little world!whaou
Hey, thank you so much! That means a lot, especially from you – “Mum is missing” was absolutely gorgeous!
I really liked the graphics and music. It's very nice to play. Great job!
I’m so grateful that you played it! Thank you!
Great graphics and scoping, this is a true and complete metroidvania but it can be finished within 15-20 minutes (or, I don't actually know how long it took but it was a pleasure).
Thank you so much! I was so worried that the game would be too boring or confusing for folks to finish, so I’m supremely grateful for everyone who gets to the end! :)
This is such a nice cozy game in every way. I love the graphics and the palette you use, the music fits perfectly and the opening cinematic was also beautiful! Great work and I'm really happy I could play it :)
(I just wonder what the red pixel tried to tell me. But don't give it away! Maybe others will find it out on their own.)Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to say that!
(And I’d love to know which red pixel you’re talking about because I honestly don’t have clue what you mean! Whatever it is, probably safe to say there’s no hidden meaning!)
On the ground floor of the lighthouse I saw a red pixel above the two logs, it is blinking in a pattern of short/long/pause, I thought it must be a hint in Morse :D I just realized it was only a candle 😅 (But it still looks Morse code to me!)
Oh right, yeah! I didn’t plan for it to be that sneaky, and it did remind me of a Fez secret when I saw it. With hindsight I could’ve cleaned that up for sure, but it’s done now. :D
