Did you follow the theme?
Yes. Your ammo changes depending on the player's temperature or the ammo's proximity to a hot/cold source. Also enemies have elemental weaknesses.

Did you (you or your team) do the graphisms yourself?
Yes

Did you (you or your team) do the musics and sounds yourself?
Yes

The art is really beautiful, gives a great retro vibe. The temperature mechanic is interesting in theory, the problem is that in reality it is easy to kill the enemies at any temperature. I think making the difference between hot and cold more pronounced would help a lot, changing enemy behavior depending on temperature could also be an interesting way to approach it.

I also found the game UI a little obtrusive, especially when walking upward. Just reducing the size would probably help a lot.

Overall, good job!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I agree I could push the mechanics further. Good idea for changing enemy behavior. I'm thinking about making some avoid fire or ice. Also agree with the UI, I'll try to change it to less intrusive sprites instead of text. Thank you for your feedback!

I like the aesthetics of the game and the gameplay too, but I completed the whole level just by throwing rocks.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for completing the game! I assume you mean you beat it without using fire/ice ammo? I'm working on an update I hope to deploy shortly after the judging time is up that will add more mechanics to make this game a bit more complex. Thank you for the feedback!

great little game I thought you could only kill certain enemies with fire or ice but later found out they died either way to bad you were unable to work that in that or I was getting some kind of bug that let me kill them.  The only issue would be the ai seems to like to get stuck against walls other then that seemed to be working just fine.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Yes you can kill the enemies with anything. But fire does more damage to blue beards enemies and ice does more damage to the red ones. I agree the AI could use some tweaking. Thank you for the feedback!

I finished it. Firstly, i should say that the art is great, only the size of the ui on the left bothered me, because sometimes i could not see the enemies under that ui. I couldn't figure out the difference between fireball and iceball, but i think there is a difference. In general, it is a lovely work, nice job!

Developer

Thank you! Yes I need to play around with the UI more to make it less intrusive. I'm thinking about changing it to sprites instead of text. Also the fireball is more effective against the blue beards enemies and the iceball is more effective against the red enemies.

The game was very cute X](a sucker for old-school graphics). It was a great idea to use the slimes as a way to control the temperature. The only issue I had were the mechanics felt like they dragged on. However, I believe this game has a lot of potential for an extended version XD

Developer

Thank you! I agree the mechanics can get somewhat repetitive. I hope to address that in the future.

Great little game!

Really enjoyed this!  The oil droplets were a very cool mechanic.  The graphics were fun, they reminded me of Dragon Warrior for the NES in a way.  The Boxers were no joke!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I agree the boxers are challenging! I hope to add more enemies and expand the mechanics in the future.

I really liked this game, the visuals are very good. It really reminds me of gameboy games. The game levels and mechanics are very well done. Really like the puzzle approach of some levels. Good job!

Developer

Thank you, I' glad you enjoyed it! I was inspired by gameboy game art for this.

Super cute! I loved how simplistic the graphics were. They still got the point across and gave the characters.. well, character! It was very fun (Curse those box enemies! They always scared me!) and I had a great time with it. Good job!! :)

I liked this dungeon-crawler type of puzzle game! Being able to power up your weapon fire fire or ice, and having different corresponding enemies and environments, was a really neat idea, and I think it worked well! Each enemy having a different weakness and movement style was also a nice touch, and it added some variety to the game. One thing I will say though is that the mechanic of different fire and ice powers felt kind of underused; I ended up going around just using default ammo, since I could only use the others very close to the powerups, and I didn't notice much difference in damage when using any other bullets. If you're looking to add some more action, then having each ammo type work further away, and maybe adding some special effects for each - splash damage or slowing down for example - might help improve that part of the game.

I really liked the art here! The use of the colour palette was great, and it made the game a bit more charming. The way each area has a different style, and each enemy looked unique, both made the game more visually distinct too. The animations added some feedback when playing as well. One thing I'd suggest, though, is some more visual clutter and variance - different tiles here and there, maybe some decorative pots or chests, stuff like that. It still looks very nice without it though, so don't worry!

The music was a good fit for the game, and I especially enjoyed the different sound effects for each ammo type, once again helping with the theme of hot-neutral-cold. A little bit of variance in them could've helped when repeatedly firing, though.

Overall, this was an enjoyable game, and there are a lot of things to do with it in future -  a puzzle game, or dungeon crawler? Something else entirely? So many opportunities! Well done on getting this done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for all of your feedback! The special effects are a good idea. I'd like to expand this into a dungeon crawler with some additional puzzle elements. I made some art assets that didn't make it into the game for the jam deadline so I hope to incorporate those to add more clutter and puzzle elements like you suggested.

Great effort for a first jam! Everything felt the way it was supposed to and seemed to work nicely. It did get a bit repetitive towards the end, so if I had to give a suggestion for next time, it'd be to reduce the number of levels but to make them more diverse/have different goals. But overall, well done!

Developer

Thank you! I agree different puzzle elements to add different goals would make this much better.

I loved the look of the enemies! I also thought it was cool that each one had there own pathing. I felt bad for killing the blue ones, but no remorse for killing the green ones, they had to die. I think it would be interesting if you made the enemies completely resistant to an element. It could lead to the case of chasing the blue guys to a fire area.

Developer

That is a good idea to make them immune! I may implement that in the future. Thank you!

Great game! Graphics were really well done. The oil drops were really clever I liked that. I wish there would have been more different enemies. The first two enemies were bit boring and the boxer was nice. I didn't really know what attack to use so I didn't think about changing the attack for different enemies. For a first game this was excellent! Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you  for the feedback! I do hope to flesh out the enemies more as some are definitely too easy as of now.

Excellent job for a first project! Visuals were great and everything played excellently. Don't be afraid to turn up the difficulty a bit too, I think the enemies could've been more engaging if they all had attacks :) Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I agree some parts could be more challenging. As of now the blue enemies flee, the red enemies wander, and the boxers chase. I hope to improve the enemies in the future.

It was really fun, I like the graphics most of all. Elemental bullets and weakness were a good touch to the game. I legitimately got jumpscare by the box enemies. Pretty solid and a good game overall. Rip and Tear!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you were invested in the game! Thank you for the compliments!

Really good job with your first project! It's great you were able to finish your first unity game on your first game jam! Keep on learning :). Now to some feedback for the game, I like the concept, but I did not really find out what the different attacks do except change colors. Also, the camera feels a bit shaky, I assume you scripted its movement yourself. Check out the built-in Cinemachine package in Unity to instantly make it better! It would also be fun if there was some kind of boss fight at the end.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The red enemies are weak to ice attacks and blue enemies weak to fire attacks, but I definitely could have made that clearer. Also if you shoot the oil drops enough with fire/ice they will burn/freeze. Agreed on the camera. Believe it or not I did use Cinemachine here so I suppose I'll have to tweak the settings a bit.

Fun game with great art, brought me back to early legend of zelda days. The Boxers can sometimes trap you in a wall which isn't too fair, maybe when they collide with you give them a bit of velocity away from the character to give them a breather. Maybe also a transition between levels would be good. Like you kill all the enemies, the a stairway down opens up or something. Just to make the transition a little less jarring.

Otherwise great work and good use of temperature mechanics!

Developer

Thank you! The art was inspired by the game boy zelda games. Good suggestions, I'll look into them.
