Unable to see the background and the time counter on my mac.

Pretty cool mechanic but the grapple hook isn't very easy to use. Couldn't progress very far given that I've been playing it with a touchpad but seems like its good fun!

I guess that this is what happens when you do a Mac build and you don't own a Mac to test it with... But it may be that you don't have Direct 11 installed and it defaults to Direct 9 that for some reason doesn't work properly with some elements of the game.

Also, I don't want to sound rude. But you probably shouldn't be judging what feels precise and what doesn't if you are using a touchpad.

But thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it!

This is really cool!

It's a bit too difficult, however. If you wish, you may leave it with that difficulty, but then you should aim at polishing movement and the controls. Some of my issues were the following:

  • The game froze several times, and I had to restart it. This may be an issue for my computer alone, but I don't know. One of my own games had that behaviour in my computer sometimes when DX11 was used. In the Editor settings, I switched DX11 for DX9 and it was solved.
  • Jumping after hooking feels a bit weird. When I arrive to the cube, I jump forward but somehow overshoot and fall.
  • Sometimes, I shot while being at the border of a cube and the shot "crashed" with an invisible wall in front of me. I needed to go closer to the edge to be able to shoot.

As a suggestion for your walking speed problem: is you walking speed independent of framerate? If not, your character will be slower when the fps are low, and faster when they are high.

First of all glad you found it cool and also you nailed it with the slow thing. I don't know why I didn't think about it myself. the movement was on the update method... So yeah, rookie mistake XD

About the feedback I tried DX9 but almost everything turned black so I just went back to DX11. About the border shooting thing I'm aware but unfortunately I didn't find a solution, the problem is that the border is indeed in the way of your gun and the place you are aiming at. I tried disabling collision if the border is close but then you can see the bullet flying through the floor and it's weird. So I just left it as is.

Regarding the movement I know it's flawed. I did my best in the time I had. You also need to keep in mind that the game systems are complex and has a lot of things to it that are not easy to balance. Is difficult to nail the feel of a first person shooter that consists on flying around with a hook while slowing time and shooting stuff :P

But thanks for the feedback. You were spot on with everything!

It's very original and fun to play. A very good gamplay, but it is a bit difficult for the 30s you have to complete each level. I would continue developing this game, but changing the time (as it doesn't matter outside the game jam). Very good mechanichs and very good concept of futuristic, robotic theme.  You already know, but the speed of the player is very slow. It makes it impossible to jump to the red squares at level 3. And the hook doesn't throw if you are in the middle of a platform. Also, sometimes the hook doesn't hook well. I hope you continue developing this game :D

Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement, I really appreciate it.

As for the "impossible" level 3 jump it's obviously possible, otherwise it wouldn't be in the game :P

The more you press space the more you jump. Oh and the hook only goes off if you are not too close to what you are aiming to. This was done because in fact your arms in this cases are inside geometry but it doesn't look like it since I used camera culling masks.

And again thanks for the feedback :D

controls were a bit finicky but was fun none the less maybe put no timer on level 1. moving in mid air with the grapple felt slow

I guess it's all a matter of taste. Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback, I'm glad you got some fun out of it ^^

This looks like a great game, but for some reason the player movement/walk is extremely slow and I cannot make it to the edge of the first platform before around 15 seconds passes. I can hook shot to the first ledge, but I can't walk fast enough to see the next platform before time runs out. I would have really liked to play this game fully!

I'm so sorry. I have no idea what's going on... Another person had the same problem, I tested it on both my big desktop pc and my shitty laptop and both work fine. Both are windows machines and use the last windows 10 version. I don't know why it's not working :_( Can you give me more details?

Thanks and again, sorry :(

I found the issue. You can try the slow fix version if you want. Sorry for the inconvenience :)

Awesome! I'll give it another go later today. And don't worry about inconvenience at all. It's a game jam and most, if not all games will have many bugs in them, unless you have a huge team of testers lol ;) It's all part of the learning process :D

Thanks for understanding :D

Alright! Now it works haha :D Great game! I enjoyed it a lot. It is a little on the more difficult side, but that doesn't take away from the decent mechanics and great concept and idea. It fits the theme very well also!

Thank you very much. I'm all about them difficult games :P

Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow.. This is a very good game. I love to speed running throughout the level, kinda like doing parkour. lol

Thank you very much I appreciate the kind words :)

What the hell. This is so frustrating >:(
I'll definately look into it. Thanks a lot for the video!

Ok. Fixed it this time for real. The movement was in the update method so the movement was dependant on the frame rate. What a rookie mistake... Hope you can enjoy the game now :D

Hahaha wow this game is really a challenge. I got stuck on level 4 because of my bad skills xD Sometimes the movement feels clunky but otherwise a really cool game and fun mechanics.

Yes, the controls are not always as precise as I would have liked. But I didn't have that much time and the game is already quite complex as it is. But thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you had a good time :)

Nice game, it has quite a rich atmosphere . The grappling hook is a bit unreliable however, there is no real feedback for when the player reaches the face of a cube.  More cubes could be also nice.

Thanks for the feedback, I 100% agree. I would have loved adding more stuff but I had no more time. Although adding a sound to indicate that you can jump again would have been a smart call.

Glad you liked it regardless :)

Very good game!!! Seem ultimate "Cybernetic BeastMaster" (watch on netflix!!) lol!

Very good, but I thing the controllers are too complex.

Id like your opinion too, if its possible:

Thank you very much. I think that the controls are not complex, but tje game itself is.

I'll definately check your game out :)

Omg this is the bast game I have played in the jam yet!

The gameplay is really fun and the physiks work well when you get used to it. The best thing is propably the difficult on avery level I just had one or two seconds left but it never felt unfair. Great job!

I'm glad you like it! Comments like this make all the work worth it <3
